They only pretend to service Cape Breton

They’re very good at phone service. However, getting someone to come to your house in Cape Breton is another story. Be prepared to schedule, get canceled at last minute, schedule again, get cancelled again at last minute and then get offered something that’s three weeks out with no concern to the days wasted waiting for them. With the amount of money that they make on fuel oil and propane, it might seem reasonable to expect that this process should not take months. Very disappointed I will consider a more local company.

Emergency and scheduled oil delivery

I placed order for oil 3 days prior to my delivery date and was told it would have to wait a week because delivery date was filled up. Why give a set day if you can’t get the product delivered. So I spent week putting diesel in tank this is for a 81 year old mother in law. I call to get emergency oil delivery. On hold for an hour and a half only to have them tell me to keep putting diesel in tank because they couldn’t get there. Now it is my delivery date and I am on hold now for 30 minutes trying to find out if I am getting a delivery. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Is their anyone out there who wants to join class action lawsuit. If you say you are going to deliver on Monday then you should deliver on Monday.

Dependable

My primary means of contacting anyone is via e-mail, which I admit is stone-age. When I needed a propane delivery, I emailed Irving on Thanksgiving Day, assuming it would take Irving, like all my other business contacts, a few days to notice They've Got Mail but that wasn't the case. I received a reply that afternoon with a scheduled delivery date ( since accomplished).

I'm impressed with Irving. I've seen their delivery trucks out on a Sunday. I'm a single woman living alone so it's important to know who you can depend on.

Outstanding Customer Service

I am a customer of Irving Oil - Propane Division since 2008. I rent three 420 lb. propane tanks from Irving. Earlier this month I received an invoice from the company for $294.12 for my tank rental for the upcoming year. My previous bill was $132.25. That was a 122 percent increase in one year.

I contacted Irving. I was told of their increasing costs, but I was not convinced that it merited a single-year increase of that magnitude. I was easily and expeditiously able to escalate my complaint to the higher echelons in the company.

I was always treated very courteously and professionally by every Irving staff member with whom I spoke with on the phone or corresponded with via email about this issue.

I received a personal phone call from the Irving Director of Propane Operations, who patiently explained the reasons for the overdue increase from the company perspective.

They also made me a very generous customer retention offer, even though I don't use that much propane usually, less than $150.00 per year, unless there is a major power outage. Low volume users, like me, do not enable the companies to make money from the sale of their propane, so they must recoup their actual costs via the propane tank rental fees they charge.

I conducted extensive online research into what other propane companies were charging. I was astonished to learn that Irving tank rental pricing was significantly lower than any of their competitors in Cape Breton, NS.

I am staying with Irving Oil. I also have had great service from them for years now, and this experience taught me that they DO value their customers, but they also have to run a profitable business.

I want to publicly commend all of the staff members of Irving Oil who were involved in handling my complaint. It was a unique experience for me to witness a company that really is devoted the finest customer service. Thank you.

If you want the best propane supplier, I highly recommend Irving Oil.
