Fantastic

We recently purchased a Renault Grand Espace which was priced very well and although had over 100,000 miles on the clock was still in above average condition. The whole collection and handover experience was safe and COVID secure and was very friendly. Unfortunately there was an engine management fault after a few miles which when we contacted the dealer was absolutely no problem, they arranged for it to be diagnosed and repaired without hesitation and at a considerable cost to themselves. We highly recommend Ivybridge Trade Centre.

Slippery salesmen

I purchased a car which immediately then had a number of serious issues. The salesman who sold it was very awkward and unhelpful, and did everything they could to avoid dealing with the issue. The garage they asked me to take the car to were helpful and allowed me to print off all the engine computer error reports to help make my case. It took me around a month of threatening legal action directly to the owner to return the car for a refund, and they only gave a partial refund at that. However, I was relieved to get the car off my hands. I am giving two stars rather than one because I did manage to eventually get a partial refund, because the actual garage owner was a decent guy, even though his salesmen were very unpleasant.

We're already running at a loss

"We're already running at a loss, so you can bring the car back or see how much it costs" - Andy
Andy was Very quick to hand over the keys and send us on our way seemed like an OK chap to start with. We only learned then and there the car has had a total of 8 owners. We were not aloud to test drive the car as of the Coronavirus. It was not stated in the advert that the car had a few marks and dings here and there, this wasn't much of an issue as the price was competitive. The biggest concern was that the interior locks and the remote central locking were not working at all. We inquired about it and Andy informed us that he already spent too much getting the car ready for sale and told us if it was something minor he would he could do it (Keep in mind this should come under warranty) we were told to go to Ak motors to get the issue resolved. Ak motors had a friendly can do attitude and were very professional. The matter could not easily be resolved and we were invited to come back next week to fix the issue. We were starting to think that this was a known issue on the car that was deemed to tricky and expensive to fix. Upon calling the dealership again this almost confirmed our suspicions. They would not give us a definitive answer as to weather they were going to do right by us and fix the issue under warranty. His attitude on the phone completely dropped off, felt unfriendly and dismissive, all kind of notion to keep us as there customer went and wasn't too bothered about us returning it. This central locking issue proved too much for him.

Hi Rebecca, thank you for your feedback-bit confused as to why you were unhappy with the service?
On Monday 1st Feb, during national lockdown, when we have restrictions on how we can sell and can only offer click and collect, you called to request to test drive our 207, priced at just over £1000. We explained that we couldn't let you test drive due to restrictions and government rules, but we could offer a 14 day cooling off period where you could bring the car back for any reason, for a full refund. You asked for a discount, and wanted the car within an hour, which although would be hard to get it sanitised, valeted, and safety checked, as you were desperate for the car we pulled the stops out for you.
Tuesday, 2nd Feb you called to say remote locking was not working from button, but could lock car from key. We advised that our approved repair garage AK motor could look at this for you under warranty, it should be an easy fix. After you called 7 times in 1 hour, Andy did get frustrated as he had other customers to call, so suggested that you bought the car back for full refund, as per the 14 day cooling off period, as he thought this might be the best option for you as your expectations of a 13 year old, 120,000 mile car would be difficult to meet.
Tuesday, 2nd Feb PM-You bought car back, and full refund transferred, no quibble, back into your bank account straight away.
We sell over 100 cars a month, and 99% of these customers leave happy.
If you would like to call myself, Simon, directly to discuss further please feel free on 01752 876715.

SECOND HAND CARS CAN BE OF DUBIOUS RELIABILITY

This business is allied to GKS Car Sales of Ivybridge & is basically overseen by one of the GKS car sales team. Their "secure compound" is offsite & certainly used to be a field outside of Ivybridge. Hence why you may well need to make an appointment to view vehicles, to give them time to bring the car in. Their second-hand cars are generally of high mileage & can prove to be rather unreliable soon after taking ownership. While they may offer to resolve the issues, this causes hassle & inconvenience for customers. Moreover, their website does not seem to mention anything about vehicle guarantees or warranties, or their policy in this regard. Also note, they only post positive reviews on their website, so don't be hoodwinked by this, as there have been unhappy customers with negative experiences. Just be very wary.
