The estimated 2-3 days delivery was more like a week. The product is fine of course, and the price. I'm really keen to support smaller retailers (vs Amazon), but you really could do with speeding up the service.

After a week waiting after I ordered online I called and then advised it was in store to collect.
On collection the Castelli jersey was soiled on the pockets and back. I was given a discount but was not happy with the overall service.

Alfie at the chez store was a legend! Alfie helped me find the right bits for my bike totaling £102 perhaps the most reasonable price in the region, Alfie gave me a tour around some of the most fascinatingly expensive bikes, even though I wasn't shopping for one he was happy to walk me through his personal experiences with these bikes. Also had a chat with cam on the tills, and found out we have mutal friends! Small world!
Working in another bike/retail store i know how important these reviews are. So for the store manager who reads this. Give them a pat on the back from me too! They deserve more but in this economy we can only pray for a bonus right? Haha.

I purchased an amflow pl carbon from JeJames online, when I bought the bike, the website was showing that it was in stock and available to buy, the order went through fine and I was expecting to get a new bike within 2 weeks, 2 weeks passed with no contact from JEJames, i rang them and spoke to an unhelpful gentleman who told me that “apparently” there was a computer error and they haven’t actually got the bikes in stock at all and it was on back order with their supplier, waited a further 7 weeks!! for my bike to arrive - when it did it was packaged in the wrong supplier box and has a scratches on the fox forks. Not a happy customer.

Been in today to collect my new bike. Can I just say a massive thank you to the young man who helped me choose the bike and get it ready for me. Polite professional and even laughed at my jokes 🤣. It isn't my closet bike shop but it will be the only one I use. Thanks chaps Chris parfitt

I've bought mountain bikes and equipment from JEJames for over 20 years and have always had niggling issues. This year my son needed a new bike and the service was poor leaving us with a bike that didn't work and eventually we took it to another bike shop who sorted it within days. In summary...
- we were told they had the bike in the shop but they didn't
- we returned to ride another bike but they quite rudely said we could only ride it in the shop.
- when we eventually decided to buy it the suspension forks didn't work.
- once replaced we had a test in the shop and the brakes didn't work.
- after being told they'd 'bed in' it was clear something was wrong so they replaced just one of the brake units with a different make.
- once taken home and ridden the brakes still squeeled badly and then the rear one (which was replaced) stopped working altogether and the front one became too stiff.
Turns out the brake cable had been damaged during fitting and the rotors had been contaminated. Each time we tried to get the issue sorted the shop told us it would sort itself and just tried to get us to leave. On one visit during the weekend the shop seemed to be staffed with inexperienced teenagers and on the last wait for the brakes to be sorted our phone number had been written down wrong so promises to ring us delayed the riding of the new bike by weeks. This was the Sheffield branch. But don't take my word for....go and see if the poor service was just a one off for yourselves. I'm done with them!!!! It's taken 5 months to sort out.
Service at Barnsley was great. Adam talked me through the different Liv models to make sure I got what I wanted. Slightly disappointed that, after purchase, the workshop took 4 days to make sure the bike was ready to go, but I didn't push it. Probably could have had the bike earlier if I had asked. Overall good experience, I've had the bike a week and I'm happy with it.

Continuing efforts to say they went "above and beyond" to help me fix a bike that broke after a few months. Nope. They tried their hardest to make it my fault. Tried to blame me every step of the way. You sell rubbish, take responsibility. Dont take it out on your customers. Now you get a one star review for this appalling service.
A young man names alfie at the chesterfield store was very rude to my autistic grandson, we came in to look for his first mountainbike for his birthday! Alfie couldn't help but talk down to us like we was garbage. Not a good first impression, my grandson struggles with his speech and he's very socially awkward, he's been quite upset about this interaction.

I have always shopped at James.
1 x Claude Butler
2 x giant
2 x marren
I x electric raleigh, bosch engine
1 x gazelle, bosch engine
Mainly had my services there.. no complaints about the lads there.. took me a while to realise how expensive their services are.
Because my commute was changing I decided to upgrade my electric bike
I bought a Gazelle, l paid on the day of ordering. £4800.
I picked up, rode home, 2.6 miles, and disliked it instantly, so l rang and said as much.. the answer
"Well it's a used bike now"!
"We can give you a partial refund"
My advice to all.
Plenty of other places..
PS date approx, l bought 9th April 25

This was my first time shopping online at J E James Cycles and I was very pleased with their good prices, wide range of items in stock and excellent communication and customer service. I would highly recommend this shop - this will definitely not be the last time I use them.

Everything was simply fantastic. I phoned up prior to arrival to make sure everything was ready for collection and having never been to the area before was given plenty of advice on where would be best to park. Getting to the store it was immaculate and was immediately greeted by Freddie who was amazingly helpful throughout. He even held carry some of my kit to the car, I can honestly say I've never had customer service as good from such friendly, knowledgable and enthusiastic staff. Thanks very much!

I bought a bike from JE James a few years ago and was happy with the service, so when I was looking for an ebike it was one of the places I went to. The sales staff were really helpful and knowledgeable, and buying in person is always better. After some preparation time I picked it up. Immediately the higher gears weren't changing smoothly but the big problems happened after 6 weeks when first the charger drained instead of charged the battery and then halfway through a ride the electrics wouldn't work. On ringing the service department I was told it could be a month before they could even look at it. I pointed out it was a brand new bike and if they couldn't sort it I wanted a full refund. It was dropped off that day. Hearing nothing after a week I phoned told "we were just going to phone you" had ordered new battery. Rang again a few days later told "just going to phone you" not battery but control unit problem. After a few days phoned again, it was fixed. Gears would be adjusted and a snapped light cable fixed. I couldn't pick up so requested delivery, would be sorted. After a few days no info on how/when would arrive - hadn't been packaged, would contact courier next day. Bike had been there nearly 3 weeks by this time. Delivery would need to be signed for, would be a 12 hour window, not a day I could be at home, so arranged collection. Brought out wrong bike, barely a word, no paperwork, no info on what had been done. At no point was there an apology, gave impression I had snagged cable, no idea whether battery was replaced or not, higher gears ok now but lower one's are clanky. All in all shocking after sales. In hindsight really wish I had just demanded a full refund and gone somewhere else. Two stars balances out helpful sales staff and terrible after sales.

Ordered an Electric mountain bike online. Process was simple and the guys at JE James were great when I went to collect the bike. Great knowledge of the bikes and the technical detail, unlike other bike suppliers I have visited previously. Freddie went through the PDI and functions of the bike very thoroughly.
Top guys at JE James Barnsley 👍👍👍
