Boos does not take responsibility for defective products

Boos boards are supposed to be the best that money can buy. Not this time. I received a warped board. It rocks when I touch a corner. It is brand new, never used.

I called customer unservice. The agent immediately denied the warp was a defect. She even told me it is “correctable” by oiling the board, wrapping in saran, and weighting it down w bags of sugar and flour. (Really?). She went on to claim the warping was “caused by shipping from IL to the hot dry west coast.” This is an example of how this company fails to take responsibility for their defective products. It is shocking to me that a company of this stature and reputation behaves like a crook.

I am surprised that a longstanding company (since 1880’s) such as Boos has such poor customer service, well, it borders on ridiculous. Their remedies to correct a defective board are laughable. A brand new board should not be warped upon arrival to the customer.

Their excuse that moisture loss *in transit* has caused the board to warp is a stretch too, imo. IF had traveled from IL to the Sahara desert, maybe then it could have experienced a dramatic moisture loss they describe. But, my product did not. Just from IL to the west coast. Non desert.

It OK to produce a defective item from time to time; it happens. What is NOT OK is to fail to take normal responsibility for a defective item that is warped upon arrival to the customer as new goods.

After this experience, I strongly discourage anyone from buying directly from Boos company because they DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. Buy a different brand from a retailer that takes responsibility for what they sell.

I have always wanted one of these…

I have always wanted one of these cutting boards for my kitchen. I finally was gifted one, come to find a tiny hairline crack on it. I figured this must be a natural element of the product as it's wood. The crack got worse over 2-3 months of light use and care following the companies instructions. The problem is,( and reason for my 1 star review) I reached out to this company 3 times over the past 2 months via the website customer care page and have been ignored. I think this is horrible customer care practice especially when your charging upwards of $200 for a cutting board! Zero support is the worse thing you can experience after getting a product you coveted for a long time!
