Absolutely unacceptable and extremely misleading subscription practices
We signed up for JOYclub in January 2025. We NEVER knowingly agreed to a second paid membership, and we certainly did not knowingly authorize another €79.20 payment.
The way the subscription was presented to us gave us the clear impression that the membership would end and that we would have to actively agree if we wanted another paid membership. We were NOT given a clear and unmistakable indication that JOYclub would simply take another €79.20 from us.
Apparently, JOYclub sent reminders that we did not see. And because we missed those reminders, a payment of €79.20 has now somehow turned into a ridiculous €597.07 collection claim, with a lawyer now threatening us over it.
This is absolutely outrageous.
If JOYclub believes we actually agreed to this second membership, then show us exactly where and when we agreed to it. Show us the exact terms that were presented to us at the time, the exact renewal information, the payment authorization, and the evidence that we knowingly entered into another paid subscription.
Do not hide behind an email reminder and then act as though a consumer deliberately agreed to a €79.20 renewal simply because they didn’t notice an email.
A subscription renewal involving real money should be crystal clear, not something a customer has to discover after the money has already been taken and a relatively small €79.20 amount has ballooned into €597.07.
And now we’re being threatened by a lawyer over something we never knowingly agreed to in the first place.
This is exactly the kind of customer experience that destroys trust.
We are extremely disappointed and angry about how this has been handled.

Before any booking is completed, we explicitly show that the selected membership is a recurring subscription and outline the required cancellation timeframe prior to renewal. Transparent information about payment authorization and renewal conditions is always provided before purchase confirmation.
If a recurring charge fails or is cancelled, our payment provider issues formal reminders to ensure the outstanding balance can be settled. When these reminders are ignored, the payment provider automatically initiates further collection procedures, which leads to additional costs over time. Monitoring personal subscriptions and responding to financial notices is the responsibility of each individual.

Joyclub Took My Money and Locked Me Out
I paid for a one-month Premium membership, and after less than two weeks, Joyclub blocked my account unless I submitted a video of myself — something never mentioned clearly before purchase.
They refused all reasonable alternatives and denied any refund, despite not providing the full service.
Customer support was completely dismissive and unhelpful.
Very disappointing and feels like a trap for paying users.
I’ve reported them to the German consumer protection agency according to German Consumer Laws.
