Ancient till practice- Beware!

Had an elderly lady calling out the prices to another colleague at the till. When I checked the receipt at home neither offers for compost/tomato grow bags had been applied and we had been charged for the complimentary tomato feed that was advertised with the grow bags. Come on Keydells move into the 21st century and scan items properly. All your offers should be logged into your system and applied when the barcode is scanned. Have a good mind to report them to trading standards! Wouldn’t mind but I spent over £130! Won’t be returning there again.

Woodland walk and cafe experience.

Came for the woodland walk and Santa experience, which was brilliant, and I can’t fault the staff who were running it. Unfortunately, we did not have such a pleasant experience in the café. I would not say this was a particularly busy day or time to visit, so when we were greeted at the café with an immediate “no” before even entering the door, I was a bit taken aback.

I said we would happily wait outside until there was space, but was told, “Well, actually, we do have a table for two, but you cannot put a high chair there, so my one-year-old would have to sit on my lap.” Again, I said this was fine. Once we were seated, I saw there was ample space for a high chair but did not comment. When another table finished, I asked if we could move, and the young girl we spoke to was more than happy to help and said there would be no issue having a high chair where we were originally seated.

Once a high chair became available and we began to put it in place, the staff member who originally greeted us stormed over and started moving our table around in frustration and was unnecessarily hostile towards us. Again, we remained pleasant and did not kick up a fuss.

My dad, who came along for the trip, queued up and bought two cups of tea for the table. Once he came back, I also got up to queue for some lunch. I mentioned that I only had cash and hoped they accepted it, and he said someone had paid in cash before him, so it would be fine. As I got to the till and began to give my order, I was cut off halfway through with a sarcastic, “Is that all you want?” comment. I explained that I hadn’t finished ordering.

When it came to payment, I handed over a £10 note. The order came to pretty much that amount, but she then told me they weren’t taking cash, despite having accepted it minutes before. At this point, I was over the whole experience and decided to leave it. We finished our drinks and left. I can’t say I’ll be returning next year

Shocking experience

Shocking experience, I went with my daughter and Grandaughter to the tearoom.
There were tables vacant inside, but we were shoved outside on table 26 right by the double doors which failed to close fully, there were no other tables outside to ask to be moved to. It soon dawned on me that anyone with children were put outside in the dining area.
RUDE STAFF MEMBER ... my daughter was in the queue to order food, she was greeted by a 60+ year old woman (wearing glasses with a ponytail) when my daughter asked what the soup of the day was at yhe till, she was told it's over there on the board, so my daughter left the queue to read the board and queue again to order food.
I work in hospitality, and the whole experience awful.

Good day at woodland walk ruined by a visit to a cafe

Took my grandson with my daughter to see Santa and go on woodland walk. We came from Basingstoke after a recommendation.
Have to say this part was superb and we, especially my grandson really enjoyed it. We then planned to eat in the cafe and then look round the garden centre. This is when it all went wrong.
My daughter held the door open so I could push the pushchair in and immediately a woman came over and aggressively said to me ‘you can’t bring that in here you have to put it out there with the others.’ I did as I was commanded but though if it rains, and it was very grey, everything would get wet. I was getting the baby bag gir my daughter when sh came out upset and said we’re going somewhere else. I said what happened she said the woman who had just cleared a table for four asked her ‘how many’ my daughter said three. She then said ‘us that three and the child or two and the child’ my daughter said two and my son to which the woman replied ‘I can’t give you a table for four’ so my daughter walked out and so did another would be customer.
I always want to ask people like that if they were born rude or did they learn to be. Can’t say I’ve met anyone quite as rude as her before though.
We were lucky enough to be guided by a lovely gentleman to a Harvester a few minutes down the road and had a wonderful meal on a table for four. We were also advised by the lovely lady who served us that she also had a bad experience in that cafe and would not be returning so I guess it’s not uncommon.

Bird feed

Visited before Christmas and purchased some Westland bird feed to complete a Christmas gift. Upon purchase all seemed ok but it was infested with weevils. I contacted Keydell and they passed the issue onto the supplier who weren’t interested. Keydell were shocked at the negative attitude and personally resolved my complaint with a generous compensation of Guardsmen brand of bird feed and fat balls.

Poor coffee stale danish pastries

We went to the café yesterday, the experience wasn’t pleasant , the danish pastry was clearly not fresh and it was really stale . We complained got another one it was just as stale and so bad we only took one bite out of it. Then the coffee was bitter…we wasted £ 10.00 and won’t be returning.

Rude customer service and manager

Today we visited for a last time after over a year of shopping there. This morning we noticed small trolley with a baby seat so we used this instead of our pushchair for a year old baby we had with us. I wanted to buy few soft toys but been told I am not allowed with the small trolley in the area with soft toys. I left and approached one of the ladies at the tills to speak about this but she rudely said to me: Well can't she walk?? One year old. No. She can't unfortunately. Later on we spoke with the manager who had the same rude approach. He basically suggested that if I have the baby then I shouldn't be out shopping. His arguments were amongst other - if the shop doesn't offer a trolley with a seat do you choose not to shop in that specific place. No sorry, no apology for the rude comments about my daughter having to walk when she is still only able to crawl. In this place customer definitely does not come first.

I bought two evergreen trees

I bought two evergreen trees ; each £56 , from Keydell Nursery in Horndean Hampshire last Oct’22. I was advised for the nursery staff that these trees were hardy and would withstand cold and frost winters.
However in December’22 the two trees looked quite poorly and the leaves turned brown , I advised Keydell Nurseries who explained the trees would recover in Spring’23 , but in Feb’23 the trees were clearly dead so took them back to be replaced. I was only offered half the value of both trees , which both surprises and disappointed me as I had spent over £1000 at the nursery the previous year and had expected some customer loyalty.
I specifically asked the nursery experts for trees that would withstand a harsh winter and was disgusted at the treatment I received from Keydell Nurseries , I’ll take my business elsewhere in the future.
FOOTNOTE:
I HAVE NOW BEEN REFUNDED FROM KEYDELL NURSERIES THE VALUE OF THE SECOND TREE , IT HAS RESTORED MY FAITH IN GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE. WELL DONE “ TOP MARKS “ FOR GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT KEYDELL NURSERIES.
ILL BE BACK TO BUT SPRING PLANTS VERY SOON.
