Woodland walk and cafe experience.
Came for the woodland walk and Santa experience, which was brilliant, and I can’t fault the staff who were running it. Unfortunately, we did not have such a pleasant experience in the café. I would not say this was a particularly busy day or time to visit, so when we were greeted at the café with an immediate “no” before even entering the door, I was a bit taken aback.
I said we would happily wait outside until there was space, but was told, “Well, actually, we do have a table for two, but you cannot put a high chair there, so my one-year-old would have to sit on my lap.” Again, I said this was fine. Once we were seated, I saw there was ample space for a high chair but did not comment. When another table finished, I asked if we could move, and the young girl we spoke to was more than happy to help and said there would be no issue having a high chair where we were originally seated.
Once a high chair became available and we began to put it in place, the staff member who originally greeted us stormed over and started moving our table around in frustration and was unnecessarily hostile towards us. Again, we remained pleasant and did not kick up a fuss.
My dad, who came along for the trip, queued up and bought two cups of tea for the table. Once he came back, I also got up to queue for some lunch. I mentioned that I only had cash and hoped they accepted it, and he said someone had paid in cash before him, so it would be fine. As I got to the till and began to give my order, I was cut off halfway through with a sarcastic, “Is that all you want?” comment. I explained that I hadn’t finished ordering.
When it came to payment, I handed over a £10 note. The order came to pretty much that amount, but she then told me they weren’t taking cash, despite having accepted it minutes before. At this point, I was over the whole experience and decided to leave it. We finished our drinks and left. I can’t say I’ll be returning next year
