Disappointing Customer Service

They make great tents but as mentioned in the previous review, impossible to get hold of without multiple emails to them (unless you want to buy something then the response seems a lot more speedy - who'd have guessed it). I ordered a canopy for our tent on Sept 13th to be told the order had been accidentally cancelled by khyam and that I would receive a refund. I therefore reordered the item on a different card and received the product. However for the original order I am still awaiting a refund of over £100 and its now a month later after multiple emails to khyam, only half of them with a reply to me. They have blamed a card transaction company (mollie) they use for holding the payment but in my opinion whatever card company they use is not my problem, they need to refund me and reclaim their money back off they card company afterwards. I don't understand how they can't just transfer the refund to my bank without going via their card transaction company. Im a massive advocate of their tents and think they are great but this experience has really put me off using them again. I have even given them mobile number to try and have a conversation with them but no call back to resolve anything. I am currently trying to seek advice from citizens advice for this.... khyam...please sort this out for me.

The company you bought from was Khyam(UK) Limited who distributed the Khyam brand in the UK, and those directors have set up a new business Holawild Limited. Your review is about another company not us Silent Vale Limited, we would be very grateful if you would agree to remove this post as it obviously portrays a different view as to who we are, Thanks. Poor recent customer service

I’ve been a massive advocate of the Khyam Igloo tent for c.25 years having owned the Mk 1 and then Mk 2 versions. Decided to upgrade to the new Mk 3 earlier this year. Fair play to the team at Khyam, as when I contacted them after I’d put it up for the first time to advise them one of the poles had become detracted from the central hub, they couldn’t have been quicker in arranging for its return and repair. The good news ends there as when the tent was returned to me, and I erected it at Festival it was in a worse state of disrepair than it had been originally. Having contacted Khyam again, they offered to replace the tent for new one or refund me in full. Despite emailing them 3 times in September requesting they arrange to collect the tent and refund me, I’ve now been waiting for a reply for over a month. It appears impossible to get them to contact you. I love the Igloo tent but I’m not loving Khyam currently.

Bought a new igloo as my old 1992 one…

Bought a new igloo as my old 1992 one had failed a couple years ago, tried other tents but nothing is like a Khyam, the new locktec 3 version is higher with a higher door so has easier access, the materials are very impressive, used for my motorbike trips and is an ideal size.

Khyam Arden Four Man Tent

Got my Arden 4 man a few weeks ago but won't be using it to next year. I am very pleased with the quality of it as we have lost two of our tents in the last two years my daughters and my own this year due to strong wind and rain. The reason I picked this Khyam tent is for the the strong wind resistant top attached guide ropes and the little roof above the side door most tents doors just let the water pour in when open them. I also purchased the canopy sun shade for the front this tent ticked all the boxes for me can't eat for next year to try it out.

The other products are great.
I had a few problems with my tent, so I also know warranty and customer service is great. All fixed now.

2* because support were lovely but the tent itself is not fit for purpose

We absolutely loved our airtek 6 tent bundle with extras like the canopy etc and showed it off to everyone on its first outing.
However next use the pump broke as we were trying to put it up in the pouring rain. Noone else's pump was compatible with khyam and as the tent lay on the floor collecting water we started to feel really desperate. Our 11 year old was crying asking if we had to go home. My amazing husband took the pump apart and fixed it and we were on track again after mopping all the water our of the tent.
The third outing, this week just gone, the pump worked fine but two of the beams would not inflate enough and would deflate afterwards so we couldn't get the tent up. Both boys were visibly distressed as we had traveled over 6 hours to cornwall.
We took the air beams out, not really what you want to be doing one your first day, and found small fractures or tears right at the bottom of the beams where they were crumpled into their sleeves. We fixed as best we could with the repair kit and left for 4 hours as recommended. Meantime I'm desperately messaging kyham for help.
They rose to the occasion and shipped out overnight 3 beams, but for airtek 8 as they had no airtek 6. We were so grateful to their support team as the replied beams leaked overnight and I had to get up twice to pump them up in the wind and rain. It was truly awful.
We put the new beams in but they were too long and wide so whilst they held, they didn't make a smooth arc and we had to connect the tent to our trailer at the back for it to stand up to any wind.
Then a third beam failed catastrophically because it had not been zipped into it's sleeve when the tent was assembled and blew up like a balloon in one point and tore. I was crying at this point, there was a quality control thing on the tent which was total rubbish as the beam wasn't zipped in so would fail at some point when in use. I.e. on someone's holiday possibly in any weather at any time.
We had days basically of repairing beams, replacing beams, and finally yet another beam started leaking and needing pumping up twice a day. We tightened all valves but it still leaked.
We managed to have nice days on the beach but our youngest was anxious all the time about the tent and I spent the first three days feeling constantly sick at the thought of the tent failing in the night. It's a big tent and with all our stuff in it, and the boys, just so stressful.
Khyam have told us that you can only return the tent before 30 days, but we absolutely do not think this is OK. Lifetime warranty on parts sounds great until beams fail on holiday, then what do you do? Khyam support were great and saved our holiday but normal warranty is 10 day turnaround and we still have leaking beams and the wrong size beams.
The beams fractured where they were folded to fit in the sleeves, this clearly will happen again and again.
We just cannot cope with the stress of air beams and not knowing when they're going to fail. They'll always fail on holiday so how does lifetime warranty work when you have no tent on holiday?
Oh and finally the tube on the pump has split on a join and we had to repair with duct tape otherwise it leaked too much to inflate the beams.
We just want a tent with poles.
