We had a great family holiday here…

We had a great family holiday here recently. We had recently returned from an active holiday in France with our dog, so this was a relaxing and peaceful break. We stayed in one of the dog friendly lodges and were very happy with it. The hot tub was great!

My sister and her family and dog stayed in a separate lodge, and they also thought highly of it. The staff were friendly and there were a number of activities available for the children.

Overall would definitely recommend!

Sanctuary

Upon arrival the staff were so friendly and continued with their hospitality throughout our stay. Initially we didn’t want to eat in the restaurant because we saw photos on their advertising which did it no justice, however, this place is so remote we had no choice and OMG the food is absolutely amazing in flavour and presentation. We ate two nights on the trot in The Forest Bar and Kitchen and would have ate there again tomorrow but it’s closed so have to go somewhere else. We ate here on the 5th&6th May 2026
The lodges are spacious and clean as is the hot tub.
The only downside side was, we visited Kielder Castle and it was closed due to renovation. We walked three hours to their sister cafe Tower Knowe, closed because the managers left. We went to Calvert activities, closed today. For May, it is extremely quiet but we have appreciated disconnecting from society.

Peace, friendliness, views and comfort.

Prior to arrival, a couple of weeks, we received a very informative and helpful welcome pack by email which provided excellent directions, clear arrival instructions and various resort activity details.
From our arrival the reception staff, Katrina and I think Danielle, were so friendly, helpful and informative. They really made you feel welcome, that nothing was or would be a problem and that they really wanted you to be here, which is quite unique.
We had occasion to request assistance when I couldn’t get the TV to work. Becky who took my call was so happy to help and was so efficient in getting a colleague to us. Conor came and he got us up and running and again was so friendly and helpful. I also managed to lock my locker at the swimming pool such as I couldn’t reopen it and the staff who assisted were once again friendly and helpful. There’s a common theme here!
We stayed in Lodge 45 – Beech Premier Stars. The location of the lodge itself is tremendous. It has a lovely view overlooking the reservoir and countryside, is very private whilst maintaining a lovely open aspect. It also has a stargazing pod although weather had other plans for us this week however it is beautiful and clean.
The resort facilities are excellent with something for everyone. The swimming pool is perfect and because you have to book a time slot, it never gets too busy. We even had it to ourselves a couple of times. There is a great little shop which has a few useful necessities, a few luxuries and some gifts.
The lodge had a wonderful clean pleasant smell on entry and was indeed absolutely spotless. The hot tub was looked after every day by staff who clearly had your privacy as they primary concern and neither looked in the lodge when passing and took great care when looking round the corner to check if we were in the hot tub.
The lodge had every item that you could wish for in terms of kitchen ware, towels, robes and slippers, charging facilities, entertainment… the list goes on. The beds and the sofa/chair are so comfortable as are the dining chairs. Décor is done so tastefully between modern, functional and homely. There is good heating and a tremendous fan if you get too hot.
I can honestly think of absolutely no negative things to say except we have to leave. If you are thinking of staying here, do so, you won’t regret it.
I would like to repeat and stress though how lovely is every single member of staff that we encountered. If you can find something to complain about here then you’re in the wrong place.
We will be returning next year … and we just left today!
