Royal Hotel in Kirkby Lonsdale
Stayed at the Royal Hotel in Kirkby Lonsdale on 7th July 2025. This is a lovely hotel. Staff are lovely and food is excellent. It's an old building but has seen a lot of refurbishment. Our room was great. TV, complementary tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits. Feather pillows and very comfortable bed. Bathroom had a large shower unit and modern utilities. A very well kept and clean establishment. Breakfast was excellent and we would certainly stay again. The only downside as with all places like this including the lake district is the appalling parking facilities. The square across from the hotel has a parking area. If you're staying for 3 or more nights you can buy a pass but overnight stays means you have to keep feeding the machine which is annoying. I think the hotel could do more with regards to some kind of permit for those staying at the hotel. As you can't check in until after 3pm it means paying at the machine up to 6pm, after which, it's free until 8 am the following morning. After 6pm you can feed the machine for up to 3 hours which rolls over to the next day and means you can get up and have breakfast and check out at 11am without having the bother of machine feeding or warden watching. I would highly recommend this hotel.
