This company is scam! somebody should do something about it, there is no support, they just charge you money, you cannot cancel your account, you cannot delete any information. Their app does not work, they found an easy way to scam students! really a shame!

This is the WORST company!!
I had never consented to a yearly subscription and while I’m not even a student anymore (graduated over a year ago) they still try to charge me 26 euros for the last academic year, and even more for the rest of this year after cancelling my ‘subscription’. I keep getting emails as reminder to pay but I have never agreed to annual subscription and even if I would have, I’m not a student anymore so I wouldn’t even be eligible to have a Knaek account!!!

This is a fraud site. It will give you 1 year free subscription and will then send you an email saying you are now a member and will be charged some fee every month and will then send a fee of 26 euros to be paid at the end of one year.
Just sending an email is not a consent.

Liked that it lets me search on both the map and by proximity. Has a limited number of discounts and freebies in every city but it's still a good option for discounts

Some promo codes do not work. The order checks all the requirements for a discount and yet it does not work.

Customer service was very quick to respond to email and help me resolve my issue. I didn’t feel judged or pressured.

No email communication regarding payment even though they said that I was on their mailing list. Checking spam, etc, there are no emails. I cancelled my account and they said that the cancellation never went through so they charged me for the whole month. I requested this to be refunded, but they did not comply. I explained how none of their services were used, but they incessantly email me about paying the outstanding amount.

Scam!! I made a subscription in my first year of university and never used their services since then. Now, after two years of no communication whatsoever and no use of their services, all of a sudden I need to pay a fee of 26.66 euro for my subscription. When you want to cancel your subscription, they even ask you to pay extra. Very bad, don't subscribe to them!

Student scammers, they quietly convert a free subscription to a paid one and you'll only notice it when it's too late, when the money was credited from your bank account. There are no real promotions on this app, everything is in Dutch and there is no customer support available.

Very disappointing

Absolute and utter scam, I have already given a bad Google review. I noticed suddenly this morning that I was charged €26.66 out of the blue. Mind you, I have NEVER used or benefited from any of their service, apart from the initial sign-up with bank account and such. There was NO email sending out beforehand to notify about the charging of subscription fee (like any decent other services would do). And when you try to log in and cancel it as fast as you can, they require to sign in via links in emails and most of the time, the links are broken or loading forever, making it super hard to reach your account. I finally managed to cancel mine and they told me I have to pay my outstanding amount of €5 something.

This is pure scam tactic for students, especially those who live on low-budget. I have already sent them an email, called, and requested a charge back from my bank. Hopefully, I can get it back. I REFUSED TO GIVE MONEY TO SUCH FRADULENT AND ILL-INTENDED ACTIVITIES LIKE WHAT KNAEK ARE DOING.

Terrible experience, I subscribed to try to get the student box, a free merchandise but couldn’t. And ever since then, I kept receiving emails from them about canceling my subscription if I wanted to which I did couple of times and still kept receiving them. Until today, that I was surprised to have an amount of 26,66 cents debited from my account without my authorization and surprise! They sent another email asking if I wanted to cancel that subscription but there was an amount of 5 euros to be paid which they advise to pay as soon as possible or it will increase.

If you are a student avoid this organization.

When I started Kanek was a great deal. It now does not have good deals anymore and when I tried cancelling, I had to pay for the entire year and had to pay a cancellation fee despite already paying for the full year ahead. Once paying the cancellation fee, there are no details/confirmation and it brings you to a page where they threaten you that you might still have to pay outstanding fees even though the money is directly debited from your account every year.

Be careful when you start dealing with Knaek. 100% not recommended

Lot's of fresh reviews of us all collectively getting scammed. Anyone a lawyer or a Dutch person who wants to report this fraudulent service?

The app is a scam. The app never worked on my phone so I asked them to cancel my account, they didn't (which I sadly missed) so I am trying to cancel it once more, year later. Again no cancelation links work. So I have to call them to cancel. Many iterations later they are charging me enormous amount of money for what exaclty? I hope that this time I will be able to cancel the account for good. Don't go into business with them.

Scam

They send the renewal mail on the day of the renewal - even though I cannot use the discounts anymore, since I am not a student anymore. I cannot even cancel the subscription for the upcoming year since their cancellation online form does not work.

Very shady and probably illegal business practice - scaring you into submission with debt collectors ...

The app is super easy to use and to navigate, a lot of awesome diverse deals and discounts, perfect for a student (particularly for international students, since they may come to realisation that things are more expensive in the Netherlands than at home :))
