Incompetence on all levels, terrible service, disgusting facilities

Terrible service. Incompetent staff. Dirty facilities. 0 stars.

LA Fitness is the absolute worst gym I've been to. I was scammed into signing an agreement by a newbie sales rep, who guaranteed me a 7-day money back period. I signed on to try the gym out, and I was horribly disappointed with dirty facilities after 6 days, so I decided to end my membership. It turns out that the sales rep LIED to me to make a sale -- it was actually three days. He knew I was hesitant and could've given me a trial, but instead snaked me into a membership, costing me $150.

I tried to remediate the issue with the GM Will Feeley, but he was unable to help. A simple solution would have been to acknowledge the mistake of his sales rep and refund me the money, but no, instead I'm on the hook for $150 because of the INCOMPETENCE of this place.

I escalated one more level and tried to communicate my issue with the LA Fitness corporate office, but insult to injury, they aren't even willing to help me with this. I've been waiting THREE WEEKS for a response from them, despite calling 3x a week. Incompetence and unqualified staff must be a part of all levels of this organization. Pathetic.

They say it takes 40 positive reviews to undo the damage of one negative review. I will write bad reviews and detail my horrendous experiences to anyone who listens, just so they know to steer clear of this dumpster fire of a gym.

You suck, LA Fitness. You know how to fix this issue, yet you don't even try. Do better.

It´s a NO from me. If lafitness.com would focus on great service, clean area, great machines/weights and an easy membership it would be another story.

Don’t trust this place with your money

Don’t trust this place with your money, it’s a scam.

Trainers are $280/month (four 25-min sessions), but many times they are more like 15-minute sessions + possible hidden fees. Membership is $34/month negotiable. You can get a free week trial before giving any personal information and enrolling, although, they will pressure you to give them all your information plus some other contacts you have so they can call them until they enroll. My friends were upset that I gave them that information despite I asked them, cause they were bombarded with calls.

Watch out with the salesman, I was charged extra sessions on some months and he won't take no for an answer when offering extended plans and memberships.

Don’t enroll for an extensive period of time as there are no refunds despite them making it seem like not a big deal, once signed there is no cancelation. I was sold something totally different than I was offered. Ask for deals, promotions, and discounts since they will duplicate their starting price.

The first training sessions you don’t get to work out as they ask questions and talk.
LA Fitness warmly welcomes new customers with ‘sales strategies’ where you have to pay upfront fees plus your last month of enrollment as a non-refundable-deposit. The WIFI is terrible and there is no phone reception, the LA Fitness app freezes every time.

This is the part where I say “if I…

This is the part where I say “if I could give them 0 stars, I would.” LA Fitness is the biggest scam I’ve ever dealt with. They made 0 effort to accommodate their clients in the middle of a global pandemic because they only care about making as much money as possible. There are no personal trainers left because they’ve all quit but you will still be charged for sessions and those sessions will still expire with ABSOLUTELY NO HELP from LA Fitness. They flat out told me “no” when I asked to extend my sessions because my gym has no person trainers left. I was told to go to a different LA Fitness location (there are only 3 locations in all of Austin - so I’d have to drive an hour for a 25 minute workout session). Plus, I could potentially have a different trainer every single session. Which defeats the purpose of a PERSONAL trainer. Absolutely unhelpful.

Can't cancel outside a club.

Only took 3 months to get a membership cancellation on Wed, Sep 23, 7:53 AM. I sent my original email on Tue, Jun 23, 12:00 PM. Then hazard suited up to go to the location on July 21 to find that the manager "was at lunch." Got a call on my drive home which culminated in an 8 minute, 56 second discussion about my desire to cancel my membership amid his sales pitch. He finally acquiesced and said it was cancelled and I would get a notice via email in a few days. Guess it's my fault for believing him and not following thru to verify my membership was TRULY canceled.
I have been a member of 4 gyms over more than a decade and every one is more concerned with their bottom line than any individual. Thank you, LA Fitness, for hammering home that fact. I will find any other way to exercise, outside of a gym membership. I will never, ever go to a gym again. The $21.98 inappropriately taken from my account for July, August and September will serve as testament to why gyms are an extortionist practice. I will be posting these very comments anywhere that leaving a review is an option. Have a nice day.

I have been to many gym over my…

I have been to many gym over my lifetime from several states. I will say that LA Fitness is the bottom of the barrel of the gyms. They are the dirty and unsanitized. The equipment is old, out dated and unsafe.

They have a bunch of kids running the place with no adult supervision. Known for people to catch skin rashes there.

I went down the block to plant fitness in Pembroke pines Florida. Joined for much less, new equipment, super clean and adults are there. If you want to feel like you are in a 30 year old Rocky movie, working out in a basement, la fitness is your place. Or save money, visit multi new, clean gyms for less. I do not recommend La Fintness. Trust me and try and week at some where like planner fitness. Decide for yourself. You will do as I did. Leave planted fitness

COVID hit so I called in to get information about gym closures. A rep stated they would freeze my account complimentary for a month and keep it on freeze for $10 a month until I called to unfreeze. I check my bank and notice that I have been getting charged the regular fee of $30 per month. I tried calling the club location several times but no ever picks up.

Good but could easily be better

So I'll be completely honest the location of their gym is the only reason I go. They charge an annual fee yet there are shortages of ropes, cable handles, bars, plates, and possibly more. Additionally the condition of lots of things in the gym is poor compared to every other gym in the city I have been to. This is also the only gym I've been to without water bottle filling stations, looks like they are being added (I hope). The overall condition is pretty ridiculous based on them taking a fee that I assumed was to replace worn out things. Most gyms use the monthly membership fee for that too though so IDK.

Worst company ever!!

Worst company ever!!
You should better stay away from there. As everyone knows LA fitness closed in the middle of March; however, they collected the monthly fee in advance at the end of February. As a result, all members got two weeks in standby due to the COVID-19 closures. Now in the middle of June they decided to reopen, and charged me a payment of 39.22 USD from my bank account regarding the last two weeks of June. My question is where are the last
two weeks of March, which I already paid for those? Where ended in my money? They don't care about members, customers and nobody else. Besides, the only thing that really matters to them is your money because they're a money hungry. All in all, if you want to avoid trouble keep away from LA fitness.
