One star is a lot for this place
One star is a lot for this hotel:
- biggish website and app;
- issues with payments and deposit releases;
- really old houses with dimmed lighting;
- they don’t really focus on cleaning them;
- support and front-desk are generally indifferent to guests’ questions and needs;
- high prices and hidden costs everywhere. Thanks for not charging the clean air fee.

Landal stole payment
After almost 20 years as a loyal Landal customer with dozens of bookings, I was shocked by their unfair cancellation policy. I cancelled within 48 hours of booking, yet they kept the full amount without offering any refund or credit—no service provided, no costs incurred. Their customer service was cold, indifferent, and completely unwilling to help. Landal’s business model feels exploitative and customer-unfriendly. I strongly advise avoiding them until they restore fairness and respect toward their long-term guests.
ABSOLUTELY AVOID – SCAM PRACTICES
ABSOLUTELY AVOID – SCAM PRACTICES
Absolutely avoid. Scam-like practices from start to finish.
No additional mandatory fees were mentioned on the independent booking platform (Hotels.com). The price was clearly shown as taxes and fees included. At no point before payment was I informed that significant extra charges would be required.
After the booking, Landal suddenly added €265 in so-called “service charges”, which represents more than 125% of the original booking price (€211). These charges were not transparently disclosed upfront and completely changed the real cost of the stay.
When I finally managed to cancel the booking due to this unacceptable situation, Landal then tried to charge the exact same €265 again, this time as “cancellation fees”. In other words: fees that were never accepted became cancellation penalties.
Throughout the process, pressure tactics were used: short deadlines, threats of automatic cancellation, and conditions changing to Landal’s advantage. The rules seem to shift depending on what benefits them most.
This is not transparent, not customer-friendly, and feels deliberately misleading.
Below standard holiday at Bude Coastal resort
My wife and I booked a week's holiday at Landal Bude Coastal resort. We booked a Crabtree Cottage, two bedrooms on ground floor and open plan kitchen, living, dining room on the first floor. Prior to booking in we had to pay a refundable £100 security deposit.
We chose this resort due to the location and the resort facilities. Bar/coffee shop and gym, sauna and pool. The sauna was a major selling point. Upon arrival we found out the sauna was not working and our accommodation did not look like the photo’s. Our lodge was was all on one level, the master bedroom was cramped, The TV was behind the door, there was only a small amount of room to get past the bed on one side and the room was dominated by a massive wardrobe. The kitchen was separate from the living/dining room and the living room had a pair of two seater sofas rather than the big ‘L’ shaped sofa that were shown in the pictures. The Hopton Lodge that we were allocated is not shown on the resort website.
The lodge came with a hot tub that we didn’t use partly due to the weather but mainly because it was not private in the slightest. The last two nights the central heating or something in the lodge was loud and made a constant humming sound through the night.
I was told about the sauna issue when we first visited the reception, it was waiting for a part from Finland. I have tried to speak to Landal about the booking mix up but after being given the run around and given several different phone numbers I gave up.
We were very disappointed by this holiday I completed the online feedback. The response I got was “sorry you felt the room was cramped” and to repeat what I already knew about the sauna needing a part.
I am still chasing for the return of the security deposit. Over four weeks after the holiday ended we had still not received the £100 back. When I spoke to reception they said it “had just been processed” and it should show in my bank in a couple of days. I've spoken to the twice and the just repeat the same line about give it time to show in your account. When I paid the deposit it was instant I don't know why they can't do the same when returning it.
Ongoing lies !
On November 19th 2025 BBC broadcast a programme relating to Landal Belvedere and the sale of lodges there.
The item was misleading in so far as the fact that Landal Belvedere is not a company , it is a leisure lodge park at Barncrosh Farm in Dumfries, Scotland . Landal were involved in the development and I own a lodge plot on the site which has had planning consent refused repatedly since 2020 Cipty of London police have so far arrested 6 people on suspicion of money laudering and fraud
Well it looks great on the website but…
Well it looks great on the website but so far my experience has been terrible I booked online but got a message that there was some tech issue but not to worry I would get a confirmation soonish I then called the premises that told me I had to call landal directly which I thought I was on the first place...I still have not got a confirmation and now after reading the reviews am certainly not booking with them anymore as it looks the picture perfect may be not so perfect after all.
Dirty and Prejudiced
Dirty and Prejudiced
Landal de Lommerbergen cannot be recommended at all.
The house was disgusting. Heavy smell of cigaret smoke and dirty. The garbage can had rotting food underneath the garbage bags. The customer service tried to remove the smell of smoke, but it only helped some. We had to deep clean the floors and cabinets ourselves.
In the swimmingpool we had a really bad experience. The lifeguard all of a sudden asked us to remove our child from the wavebasin, because she didnt think our child could swim. It wasnt an issue the other times we were there.
We were told some diverging stories about the only acceptable way of swimming was breast-stroke - because all Dutch learn that first. So she needed to be able to do 100 meters, or 250 meters of crawl.
There were plenty of kids and adults that didnt show any competence in swimming, but they were Dutch, so we were told that she expected them to be able to swim the required breast-stroke.
There are no signs about any requirements in swimming ability anywhere, not their app, not physically. We felt extremely singled out and discriminated since we werent Dutch.
Landal de Lommerbergen doubled down after we complained, brushing us off with "its the decision of the lifeguard" despite the other lifeguards not having an issue on the other the other days. So basing a decision on whether you are Dutch (and thus automatically able to swim 100m breast-stroke) or not Dutch appears to be acceptable company policy.
If you are not Dutch I will strongly recommend you find another vacation place, as de Lommerbergen appears to be a place where lack of cleaning and prejudice goes hand in hand.
We have used Landal extensively over the years, but that is over now.
They charge top notch price but give…
They charge top notch price but give budget value...got tub didn't really work..sauna didn't work...handle for door to balcony broken and had been taped so they obviously knew...accodomation for 10 and small pans in kitchen so cooking for large numbers a challenge...TV in living room really poor signal so only 1 or 2 channels worked....did let them know about sauna and hot tub but didn't want to ruin weekend by chasing up so just made best of it... definitely NOT worth the money and much better value elsewhere
Mislead into booking
My preference would have been to give ZERO stars. We wanted to visit Laceby Manor for a long weekend. Said dog friendly but little to no info on whether you could have meals in a dog friendly restaurant. I contacted Landal direct and was sent the menus and told we could eat in the Clubhouse for breakfast, lunch and evening meal accompanied by our dog. We arrived early evening on the Friday, unpacked, fed the dog and headed to the clubhouse for food. We arrived, ordered a drink and then asked for the menu. We were told they didn’t serve food and that has always been the case and other than bar snacks we had no option to eat at the resort.
We specifically asked about the amenities on the resort so we wouldn’t need to leave. Our dog is 12 and suffers seizures so short walks and a lie down is how we spend our weekends away.
We would NEVER have spent £600 to drag our dog around for 3 days so we could eat.
I contacted Landal and they offered £60 as compensation. No ownership to what they have done, we would never have booked. We go away every month and have never had an issue with get the right information before we travelled.
Positive experience
So far it’s always been a positive experience at Landal. The prices can be high but we always like the accommodation and the location. There could be more vegan food available though.
This company has stolen my life saving…
This company has stolen my life saving after advertising for people to invest in a risk free investment. Myself and 100 other people invested and bought what we thought was a lodge in return for an annual set rate interest and a buyback after 5 years.
Instead, the company used our money to build a whole new site and have now told us that our Ownership is not valid and are taking everything generated by the new lodges that we paid for. They’ve stolen over £9 million of innocent people’s money who were trying to better themselves. I’ve lost my whole life savings. Alan Mc Nara orchestrated this.
Scam !!!
Landal are renting my Lodge which I paid for with my families life savings ! They are keeping all the rental monies, sold to many people using our hard earned money, only to get nothing in return! Big scam l!! Leaving so many people devastated!!
Lost lots and lots of money lost
Lost lots and lots of money investing in this fraud company.
Landal overcharge, use alternative sites.
They overcharge massively compared to the actual leisure park. Realised the next day once received the confirmation from the park itself (not landal), so I called to ask why & whether anything could be done. I was told it's 'dynamic pricing' which they have no control over (laughable), and not possible to cancel (of course not). Cross with myself for not doing sufficient research, but hopefully others don't make the same mistake. Not a chance I'd recommend these guys or use again.
Misleading advertising
Wish i could give this place a 0, first of all got a lodge booked last week, they then cancelled it on the same day a couple of hours before i was going i paid for a £300 lodge for sauna, hot tub etc. they then cancelled that one and tried to offer me a lodge that was available for £170 but still tired to charge me the same amount, bearing in mind this other lodge they had offered was a total downgrade no facilities to use in the room, so i said leave it i’ll rebook next week. today comes when im supposed to be going and only a few hours before hand i was sent “rules” to go over before getting there, now my thoughts are i pay £300 for this room i get to use everything within the building pretty much as soon as i get there. nope not the case at all, book in is at 4 i then have to wait until 8:00 until the tub is checked and then only does it get turned on, now it takes a good few hours for a hot tub to heat up properly, i paid for two days the woman on the phone then proceeded to say “yeah but you’ve paid for two days so you can use it the day after” even tho i’ve paid for the two days so i expect to be able to use what i’ve paid for. Woman on the phone then continued to “blacklist” me from the website saying she did not feel comfortable letting me stay in the lodge anymore. end of the day i pay for hot tub, sauna, tv and wifi. get none of it, total misinformation and unprofessionalism.
Awful! Stay elsewhere!
Tired, shabby lodges with broken blinds,damaged floors, uncomfortable beds,chipped glasses. The photos shown do not show the lodge you’ll get. Save your money and stay elsewhere. Diabolical customer service.

In my opinion a terrible company that does not look after it's investors. Everything sounds good but it is only on paper.
Fraud!!
Biggest fraud scam with many scammers and companies involved. I’ve invested through other comapnies and my income has stopped whilst the lodges are still being rented out and company generates income.
Pay our monies back!
SCAM
SCAM. Thieves! Ponzi scheme! Avoid, don't even stay there and support these con artists who stole from innocent people like myself!
