So glad I opened a high yield savings account!

Very easy to set up a high yield savings account. Making deposits and withdrawals is also very easy. And I love seeing my interest posted each month!!! Such a good interest rate!!!

Horrible processes and customer experience

If security is such a concern, why doesn’t Laurel Road run security verification BEFORE activating someone’s account and freezing their entire life savings. Chase and BOA have frozen my account ZERO times in the last 20 year. Unacceptable.

They just locked my account because…

They just locked my account because they are doing a security thing supposedly. I think they freeze your money to secure it for loans or trading, and once they profit from it, they unlock it. Other customers said that. I should have listened. Scammers!!!

Terrible customer service and black hole of company

If I could give less stars, I would. Terrible customer service is the nicest way to put it. My account has been locked for a month because I made a transaction out of country. In most cases, a phone call would have cleared the air, but they have requested numerous documentation, which I have provided, but has taken them 30+ days to review. To top it all off, they requested a letter from my bank that I made the transaction from stating that the account is mine. Even after providing all of this, my account is still locked with all of my savings in it, with no way to access. If you value having access to your money, being treated with respect, and not having to provide hundreds of papers to prove you exist, then I suggest buying "parent control software" to block all Laurel Road sites, words, links, thoughts, even this review, from showing up on your computer.

I actually filed a report against them…

I actually filed a report against them with consumer finance protection bureau, cause they charged an overdraft fee weekly of $20 until there was over $100 in charges there, and never notified me that I had a negative balance. It's not my main bank to park my money so I don't check it often, but to have the fee without notification (so I could just fund the negative account and fix it) is really questionable behavior.

Solid app

My go-to bank account due to no fees and competitive rates. Mobile app and website are easy to use and their customer service was very easy to work with.

So far so good

Awful experience. I opened the account and deposited one check that cleared, then the next day they froze the account. I tried calling and talked to someone with terrible customer service saying that it was out of their hands. Then I got a letter saying I have to go pay a public notary to notarize a statement saying I deposited the check (that already cleared and was written to me with my name on it). Shortly after that I got another letter saying they’re closing the account and it could reflect negatively on my credit score. What a nightmare. All that just for depositing a check.

Edit:
I changed my rating to a 4 star. Within a week of writing my original review all the problems that had been occurring were worked out. So far so good now. I transferred money out of this account to an external account with no problems. This is the experience that I was hoping for.
