About The University of Law

Written by the company

With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds.

We are the largest provider of legal education, with more law students choosing us than any other UK university in 2023 (HESA 2022/23). What really sets us apart is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That's why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.

All of our courses – from our undergraduate law degrees to our diverse range of business courses and postgraduate programmes – are designed with a unique, varied and innovative learning approach proven to deliver self-reliant professionals who can compete in the fast changing professional world.

Our track record of excellence in learning and development has helped us establish worldwide connections within the legal and business industries. We provide legal training for 90 of the top 100 law firms in the UK and exclusively deliver SQE training for over 65 leading UK and US law firms.

More than 400 of our lecturers are qualified lawyers and business professionals, and all have extensive practical experience which they are able to pass on to our students. We facilitate this process with high levels of student-to-lecturer contact time and small class sizes - one of the reasons that many firms insist their trainees study with us.

We focus exclusively on practice-based training and give students access to our expert Careers and Employability service database as soon as they accept a place with us. Students also benefit from our pioneering and award-winning pro bono programmes, which allow them to gain valuable work experience by helping real clients from the local community.

We were ranked in the top 10 for our quality of teaching across UK universities in the NSS 2024 (7th in England) and in the Office for Students (OfS) Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023, we were awarded an overall Silver rating, with a Gold rating for Student Experience and Silver rating for the Student Outcomes.

Our Postgraduate Employment Promise

Terrible admin staff, Overseas call staff's English cannot be understood

Terrible admin staff; calls are always routed to South Asia with no one you can understand. One sales rep, Marco Polo F's behavior, was completely harassing. Kept calling me at odd hours, followed by emails. After I repeatedly told him not to call or email me, he still sent me two more emails. It's quite a traumatic experience. The first counselor, Nicole, was a no-show at our scheduled June phone call. Refused to transfer my case to another counselor and never answered my questions, went on vacation. Now I have missed the deadline to apply. No proper English communication, no effective communication on vital info. Very poorly run and operated from South Asia.

DO NOT APPLY. GO ELSEWHERE

This is an indian based university pretending to be based in the UK. Most of the staff you speak to are based in india. They like to steal from potential students and are filled with staff that are thieves. 5 years later i am still chasing them for a refund of £250 which they refuse to refund. Now i will be forced to file a legal claim.

It is not a fit for purpose university, do not apply and go to a university that at least sits on the league table. They are just selling the name.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback Nonya. We're genuinely sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with your experience and we feel it's important to provide some clarity around the points you've raised to ensure you have accurate information.

We have several campuses across the UK and students can also choose to study online for greater flexibility. While we have staff and support teams located in a number of countries to support our diverse international student community, we do not currently have a physical campus location in India, and we remain a UK-based institution.

We were also disappointed to read the allegations of theft and dishonesty directed at our staff. These are serious claims that do not reflect our values or the professionalism of our colleagues, who are committed to supporting students and applicants with care and integrity.

With regards to your refund, we'd appreciate the opportunity to look into this further and understand what has happened. We have requested additional information through Trustpilot so that we can investigate your case properly. Alternatively, you are welcome to reach out directly at reviews@law.ac.uk.

We'll do our best to support you in finding a resolution.

Practical content and excellent academic support

The University delivered a great programme that provided a good balance of theory and practical application. Materials were structured really well so it was clear what I needed to do and when. My lecturer was also very helpful when I was struggling to complete due to work commitments.

The level of support provided by the lecturers was excellent.

The level of support provided by the lecturers has been excellent, and proved essential to me in completing my course. The staff really care about the students and its clear to see. I was able to study entirely online which was great, given I work full time and have a busy family life. Again, staff were supportive when knowing that I had competing priorities.
The course materials were easy to follow, with links to the required reading, and some extra reading. Assessment support was excellent, allowing me to achieve my full potential. The feedback and feedforward was essential, and its nice to see that staff use the full range of marks.
The quality of teaching, including research-led teaching was fantastic. Its clear that staff are fully aware of changes and new research. Some of the staff are leading the way in terms of research which was nice to see, and enhanced my experience. This was clear to see for my dissertation research, where I was appointed a subject expert.
Really loved my time studying at ULaw and would highly recommend this to you.
