Excellent resource to find the best teachers

I have had great success finding highly qualified, skilled teachers on Lessonface. One of the best things about it, is the ability to access teachers from anywhere in the world. I live in the US and am working with a wonderful bass teacher from Wales and a vocal teacher who is in South Korea. Both of them are, by far, the most excellent instructors I've ever worked with. The platform sponsors hundreds of teachers, provides useful profiles and makes communications easy. It is user-friendly and makes it easy to do remote lessons. The customer support is outstanding. They respond to every issue rapidly and thoroughly. Highly recommend

A game-changer for my piano progress

I’ve been using Lessonface for several months now, and I felt compelled to leave a review because the experience has been so consistently great.
I was originally a bit skeptical about learning an instrument over a video call, but the platform works perfectly. What really made the difference for me was the teacher I found on the site, and my instructor, Natasha Stoll, is very good. After months of working together, I can say she is patient, encouraging, and very supportive.
The whole experience doesn’t feel like a "transactional" website but more like a community of people who actually care about music. I’m actually making progress after just a few months.
If you’re looking to start piano (or any instrument, really), I can’t recommend Lessonface enough. It’s been a total game-changer for my hobby!

Highly Recommended!

Lessonface is excellent! I've been taking bass guitar lessons for two years and have never had a problem with the platform. The video and audio are first rate. It's so well organized and simple to schedule and take a lesson.

We always record my lessons and I go back and watch each lesson at least once so that I review it and make notes. Some lessons I've watched more than an dozen times.

There are a lot of bass instructors on Lessonface but I only know one. I got lucky and chose the best one I'm sure. Jesse Williams is a working professional and an instructor at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I've never had a bad lesson from Jesse in 2 years. He's the best!

Lessonface is so good and it's so simple. Highly recommended.

FIVE STARS!!

Lessonface is hands down one of the best platforms for both giving and taking lessons. The variety of options is impressive — you can find lessons for almost any subject, with teachers offering different styles, schedules, and price ranges to fit every budget.

What really sets Lessonface apart is the convenience. You can learn or teach from the comfort of your own home without sacrificing quality or personal connection. The platform makes it easy to connect with the right instructor or student, and the flexibility is perfect for busy schedules.

Whether you’re looking to learn something new or share your expertise, Lessonface is an excellent choice and a truly modern way to take lessons online.

Lesson Fee Increase Without Informing Me

There are three good negative reasons why I'm disappointed with this US platform:

#1. Before the free trial lesson with Louise Gast, she only charged $30.00 USD for a lesson of 30 minutes.

Four days after the free trial lesson, I decided to book a second lesson with Louise Gast, and it was suddenly $39.00 USD for 30 minutes.

#2. I messaged my instructor twice on January 5th, 2026 after the free trial lesson, she never replied, so I decided to message her again on January 9th, 2026 when she finally responded.

Do you actually think she would've replied to my two messages on January 5th, if I didn't message her again on January 9th?

#3. $39.00 USD is $54.26 CAD, so you're almost paying twice as much for one lesson instead of two lessons.

To break it down, they let me down for the following:

- Lesson fee increase without letting me know.
- Poor customer service by the instructor.
- No Canadian converter, therefore another fraudulent US website on the web.

If you're not living in the USA, I warn all non-Americans to be cautious with these US scam websites all over; this was actually brought to my attention before.

We should all know by now what America symbolizes and lives for - THE LUST FOR MONEY!

Lessonface staff members don't bother replying to me or this negative review because nothing is going to reverse my decision, but only to warn the rest before they sign up with you.

The instructor referenced in this review did offer a free trial lesson, after which no paid lesson was booked by this student at any point, at any rate. Lesson rates are set by individual instructors and may change over time. Pre-paid lessons are honored at the rate they are booked. The student did not complete any paid booking nor make any payment to Lessonface. Pricing on Lessonface is displayed in USD, and this was clarified prior to any booking. While we regret the student’s frustration, the concerns raised appear to stem from misunderstanding. We at Lessonface strongly assert that we absolutely do not engage in any fraudulent activity

Lessonface was the answer to all our problems

Before our family was on lessonface, we had been on a couple other platforms and the teachers we matched up with were substandard honestly. My wife and I noticed several differences right off the bat:
1. Lessonface customer service answers immediately when you had a problem. We had initially purchased credits for a teacher, but our lessons didn't work out and they gladly unscheduled those lessons and I was able to choose a new teacher.
2. The first lesson with Alison Ervin for drums were amazing and my son loved it right from the start. The biggest difference was that it was structured like a teacher should and we received weekly feedback that we felt our son was finally making real progress.
3. Lessonface vets all of their teachers, and I can see the difference right away in the quality of teaching. Again, the biggest difference between the teachers on lessonface and the ones our family had previously is that there was teaching, but no real directly and understanding of what needed to be accomplished. But Alison took the first lesson to do an assessment and then recommended a teaching book for my son, which he was thrilled with. It was targeted to his age group and he started having a lot of fun!
4. The difference between the teaching quality from lessonface teachers and other platforms we've used is night and day. They are professionals that are actually successful in their own fields (look up lessonface's vetting requirements for teachers including their teaching licenses!).
5. Flexibility of the platform. After scheduling my first subscription, I wanted to change the time it was scheduled, and again their customer support staff took care of it within 24 hours. I cannot say enough about the support from their team! If we've ever had any issues, they also have given us coupons and apologized for any issues. There's always going to be something that goes wrong no matter what you engage with, but I always look for those companies that treat their customers well and immediately correct any issues. Lessonface is exactly this type of company.

Our family has been extremely pleased with our choice to move to lessonface platform, and have subscribed to our teacher and now take lessons every week. My son after a couple of months is already graduating to the next drumming book in the series, so he's getting more complex rhythms and he did his first recital on the lessonface platform! Yes they have in person, online recitals. Amazing!

Lessonface has changed my life

Lessonface has changed my life. I have always wanted to play the guitar, but I have never found the right teacher, and my local options are quite limited. With Lessonface, I am able to take lessons with a teacher who lives on a different continent and teaches the very specific Argentine-style guitar that I've always wanted to learn. She's also so inspiring and supportive, so much so that I'm even exploring playing in a band. Without Lessonface, this aspect of my being would never have had the chance to flourish. Thank you, Lessonface!

Lessonface ROCKS!

Lessonface ROCKS!!! It has been such a blessing for our family!

We live in a small town that doesn't have many music teachers, let alone clarinet and saxophone instructors. We looked high and low for someone to help our boys learn and progress to the next level with their instruments.

We used the Lessonface platform to find an instructor. We did a few trial lessons and ultimately found a perfect fit in Illinois (we live in Texas).

Luke, our teacher that Lessonface matched us with, has been such a blessing for our entire family. Our boys play and practice more than they ever had because they genuinely want to make Luke proud. Luke meets my boys where they need to be met each and every week. When my oldest said he was tired and frustrated and maybe needed to stop playing the clarinet, Luke was there to support him and give him the space he needed to navigate that bump in the road. Luke has been terrific with teaching our youngest everything about the alto sax from the very beginning. Luke is really amazing at picking up on little things even over Zoom. Our oldest worked hard with Luke and just auditioned and earned 1st chair out of 96 in our region!

There are NOT enough words to express my gratitude and appreciation for Luke. Without Lessonface, I do NOT think we would have ever found him.

The Lessonface platform has also been FANTASTIC! We are reliably able to get into our lessons and have never had any problems staying connected. When this busy mom asked for more notifications, the Lessonface team worked to figure out a way to those set up for me.

We have been so incredibly impressed by the Lessonface platform!

Wonderful user support on Lessonface!

I’ve had a wonderful experience with Lessonface. Over the past year I’ve taught more than 200 lessons through the platform, and I’ve been consistently impressed with both the integrity and professionalism of their staff. The website, scheduling, and payment processing all work smoothly, and whenever a question came up their support team was attentive, responsive, and thorough.

As a teacher, I appreciate how well the platform is run. For students, that means your lessons happen without technical headaches, your payments are secure, and you can count on clear communication. Having tried another, much larger platform in the past, I can honestly say Lessonface has been a real breath of fresh air.

THIS IS A SCAM

THIS IS A SCAM. Just like Indiegogo and Kickstarter, Lessonface tells you the best way to have students on Lessonface is to bring your own students - and pay 5% of your fees to Lessonface.

There is no matching and no students contact teachers. You are a teacher? Set up your own website, integrate a payment gateway, and keep 100% of the money your existing students pay. Full Stop.

Reply from Lessonface

Dear Ben,

Lessonface is no scam. The vast majority of students active in our platform find their teachers through our simple site navigation and our matching system, which does, in fact, exist.

Lessonface is a competitive marketplace. There are so many excellent instructors already operating in the community, with significant momentum that is visible to students, that it can be hard for other great teachers to be seen and to gain bookings. So to address that we do enable teachers to bring their own students to the platform to not only utilize our many features but to gain stats and reviews with legitimate students, and the fee we charge on those lessons is 5% of a teacher's set rates, which includes credit card processing fees. Credit card processing fees, as you likely know, are the fees you would need to pay with a payment gateway on your own website, too. So we are making between .5-1.5% of the lesson fee on these lessons after the processing fee. It's not a money-maker for us, in other words, considering all the work we put into running the platform and in marketing it over the past 12+ years, and again, certainly not a scam. This student referral system is completely optional, and there are no other fees to join for teachers.

You are welcome to contact us directly if you'd like to further discuss our policies.

Best,
Claire
