LIVING SOCIAL THINKS ITS LEGAL TO STEAL YOUR MONEY!

I've been a Living Social customer for the past 5 years (and a Groupon customer for the same period). Recently I attempted to redeem a restaurant voucher that I purchased on Living Social in 2015 - yes the "promotional value" has expired but as per conditions of the voucher and consumer protection laws I am entitled to the "Amount paid" for another few years. Turns out the restaurant went out of business a few days before my visit. Disappointing, ESPECIALLY SINCE I ALSO PURCHASED A VOUCHER FOR THE SAME MERCHANT ON GROUPON - THERES A REASON I AM MENTIONING GROUPON.

So I get home and contact Living Social - 3 times - all by phone - they do not offer the option of resolving this issue via e-mail (Like Groupon does). End result - 2 hours of my wasted time, 2 broken promises by Living Social (to contact me - I had to reach out to them each time), 3 days, and still no refund. They flatly refuse - first I was told that my voucher was "expired". Yes, I know that - I went to the merchant to redeem the "paid value" - which is $143 by the way. "oh: says the csr...well let me research the merchant..10 minutes later she advises me that they will get back to me in 48 by e-mail. 48 hours later - no e-mail. I call again. This time I'm told that the restaurant is "under new management" and that I need to call them or e-mail the manager and ask them if they will honor the voucher. Really? Well, just before I call Living Social I already did my due diligence - the restaurant is NOT open, my phone calls to the restaurant are UNANSWERED, and I drove by the location just yesterday and its ABANDONED.

So, back to my refund request. Now I'm told flatly that Living Social will NOT be refunding my $ nor crediting my account with Living Social currency. The "contract" is between the merchant and myself. This is a LIE - Living Social billed my credit card - not the merchant. At this point I am admittedly becoming really annoyed having wasted so much time on an issue that is a clear case of providing good customer service, doing the right thing, and following the consumer protection laws which govern this industry. So I then ask the CSR for the Living Social corporate office number - I would like to speak with someone in the UNITED STATES, not a foreign call center. I am then given a number that turns out to be disconnected - no suprise just par for the course. Such a shady operation - I cannot believe that Groupon has associated its name and reputation with this scam company.

SO GROUPON - EXACT SAME SITUATION, EXACT SAME MERCHANT, EXACT SAME TIME - ONLY DIFFERENCE IS 1 VOUCHER PURCHASED FROM LIVING SOCIAL, OTHER FROM GROUPON. GROUPON PROCESSED MY REQUEST VIA E-MAIL IN 12 HOURS AND PROVIDED ME CREDIT THROUGH GROUPON BUCKS. THANK YOU GROUPON!! THIS IS WHY YOU WERE ALWAYS THE LARGER AND MORE SUCCESSFUL OF THE 2 COMPANIES OFFERING SIMILAR PRODUCTS. AND WHY YOU WERE ABLE TO BUY LIVING SOCIAL.

It appears that Living Social has also done this to other customers and its STEALING consumers $. I would like to invite any attorneys out there interested in a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT to consider targeting Living Social for this practice. Like I'm sure most consumers out there, I do not appreciate ANYONE sticking their hands in my pocket and STEALING $1 from me, much less $143! I will use every tool at my disposal from consumer protection laws (via my states attorney generals office to file a complaint) to Federal laws to social media awareness to soliciting interest for legal action against these thieves.

Its not the $ at this point, but the principal that a company thinks they can just take your or my $, not provide any exchange of goods or services, and tell the consumer flat out that YOU WILL NOT GET A REFUND! Challenge accepted Living Social.

So mad!

Their customer service is non existent. They ripped me off. I purchased a voucher for golf lessons and they wouldn't refund me when the instructor was out of the country. They told me it was my fault that I didn't cancel within 7 days. They teach the operators to guilt you and make you feel like it is your fault when it is them ripping you off. I can't believe they are getting away with keeping my money and other people's. Their customer service is non existent. They ripped me off. Merchant refused to honor deal.

Merchant offered only flimsy excuse by voicemail as to why it couldn't perform.

Complaining to Living Social got me awarded "deal bucks" equal to the amount of my purchase. When I complained that there was nothing available on Living Social I wished to purchase, the "deal bucks" vanished from my account. No attempt was made to satisfy me.

Aromatherapy necklace

Paid for a voucher which the company refused to honor. Impossible to even reach Living Social as the only thing i could find was a list of frequently asked questions and just went around and around and finally gave up in frustration.

RUN AROUND COMPANY; NO CUSTOMER SERVICE

Just recently I bought a voucher for a DAUER Sonic Pro Toothbrush. Item arrived as expedited but product was not as expected. It is a cheap version of the name brand SONIC toothbrush. The manual states "don't use the charger in the bathroom; there is electric shock or short circuit danger!!!!" After reading that I immediately called Living Social and requested to return the product; obviously was connected to someone with broken English over-seas. I was told that since I had redeemed the voucher and had the product that I had to contact the vendor directly (DAUER) and she gave me a phone number. I contacted DAUER at 1-800-883-2590. The person on the other end laughed and told me that I was about the tenth caller that had contacted them this morning and that they DO NOT MAKE TOOTHBRUSHES. 3rd step: another call to Living Social. This time I was lucky enough to be connected to a male who seemed to have better information although he did confirm that since I had used the voucher that I had to contact the vendor for returns but he gave me a different company's e-mail address and it was the correct vendor. It is Freezeandslim.com ??? I bought a toothbrush from Freezeandslim?????????? That is the vendor that sold these sonic pro want to be brushes thru Living Social. They did respond to my e-mail; their response more or less that the caution about the electric shock or short circuit is more or less nothing! They also stated in their e-mail that I had to contact Living Social to return the product????!!! Sounds like a round around by both companies. Buyer be aware!!!! Before buying anything from Living Social check out the company that you are actually buying the product from because in this case neither Living Social nor Freezeandslim.com want to be of any help. I am just thankful that this was a low priced item. If I have to keep it, I promise to keep it near the computer (in the box, unused so that I don't run the risk of getting shocked) so that I am not tempted to purchase anything else from living social ever again. Buyer be aware!!!

Raging!!

Site keeps telling me that I have no vouchers! Even though I bought them!
Then emailing me to tell me the vouchers I bought are due to expire, but will not let me redeem them.. It says it cannot verify the vouchers but shows me a description of the goods I ordered. These were Christmas presents which I was unable to give as I could not redeem them.
Tried to call them but they are closed for New Year.
So angry that I have tried to unsubscribe three times now,but they keep sending me several emails a day.

The worst business entity sill exist and makes fun of people

Living Social -The worst place to buy things and services. Bought a moving service voucher and called the mover the day before move, confirmed pickup time. Called again before few hours of move, confirmed that he is on his way. Scheduled time past, called again, he said still on the way. Waited for another 30 mins, called again, now the mover asked, how would you pay, though i have mentioned him that i bought LS voucher. Then he said, his truck broke down, can't move today. 😳
That was a surprise, as i can't delay the move as committed move out with leasing office. Called LS customer service, they advised for "deal bucks" and try other mover with Living Social. Did that, same story continued.😳
I hired a handy-mover outside and did move things. Now comes the hard part. The refund given as "deal bucks" can't be refunded as $ to your original payment method. You have to spend with LS. 😳
Bought few things, most of them or junk, dead after some time of use. Tried to return them, LS representative said, he will send the return label in mail. Have not received after a week, called again he said it is on its way. Two weeks past, called again, now i was told there is no record of my earlier calls and 14 days return period is over, i can't return the product any more.😳😳😳
All the calls to LS customer service will require 30-50 mins wait time before you get a person on the line.😳😳😳
No email, no chat to contact customer service, only phone.😳😳😳😳
If you ever happened to see living social on your mobile or pc, consider clicking anything will lead to financial loss and frustration with their service, No get away.😢😢😢😢

I would not use their service as it is almost impossible to reach them to resolve an issue

I expected a credit to my credit card account due to a computer error that resulted in a duplicated purchase . I received deal bucks instead . Now since I have had bad experience with merchants on their site , I have no use for these deal bucks. When I try to use their web site to send them an e mail, their system rejects the e mail claiming an invalid phone number. When you call them and after an 1/2 hour for them to answer the phone the customer service can not help you.

Living Social is a sham!

True customer service is tested when something goes wrong. This company has NO clue of true customer service.
I ordered 2 sets of sheets that never reached me. They have NO EMAIL to write to customer service and one must spend countless hours on hold waiting to talk with rude representatives. I've spent a total of 4.5 hours (3 calls) and the last call I was disconnected after waiting 55 minutes on hold. WHY DON'T THEY HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS ONE CAN CONVERSE WITH A REASONABLE INDIVIDUAL ABOUT AN ISSUE? Instead, a customer must be on the phone for hours (even though the message at the beginning of the call always says hold times are 10 minutes.)
They said they refunded the entire amount, however, only 1/2 of my paid amount was indicated on my credit card. They gave me (after many requests) a $20 off promotion code, which, when I tried to use it, didn't work (said I wasn't eligible for the promotion).
Miserable, absolutely miserable company to work with. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

stay away from this company

I was able to quickly get a refund of 'deal bucks' for a voucher I purchased but then couldn't use because the vendor wasn't able to do the work (window cleaning). When I called to ask for a refund of my money (instead of 'deal bucks') they refused because it's 'against their policy'. Now I have these 'deal bucks' I'll have a hard time using. As others have noted, you'll spend 45 minutes on line waiting to speak to a customer service representative (and even longer on the internet trying to figure out how to contact customer service in the first place). I will never use them again once I've managed to spend the 'deal bucks'. Use Groupon for a much better experience.

Never buying from them again!

I have to admit, I used to love LivingSocial. In fact, I used to buy vouchers from them on a regular basis. Until today. I live near DC, and I was going to go visit one of the museums this past weekend that I had an expired LS deal for. Yes, expired. I googled the museum to see what time they opened and found out that the museum has closed for good. So, I called LS to get my money back. I spoke to a rude, non friendly lady, who informed that I could not get my money back. Apparently that would have to be between me and the merchant. How on earth am I supposed to get anything from a place that is permanently closed?! I asked to speak to her manager, and she came back on the phone only to tell me that a manager would not come speak to me because they have nothing different to tell me. I am appalled at their horrible "customer service" and will never be buying anything from them again.

Waste of Time

I recently bought a voucher to a concert for $32 - $6 in Deal Bucks, $26 via my Paypal. The concert gets cancelled due to weather and I call about refund. After waiting more than an hour on hold, a representative tells me she needs to contact the merchant to confirm and puts me on hold yet again. After 10 mins, I hang up because I'm headed to a meeting. I get an email later telling me my LivingSocial account had been credited for $32 in Deal Bucks. What?! I call the next day and spend another hour on the phone. I explain to the rep that I was credited for the full amount to my LivingSocial account rather than be refunded the way I paid. I also explained that I knew someone who supposed to go to the concert who got an email, without calling, saying she was getting a full refund to her method of payment. She apologized, saying I should have gotten that email and didn't and said she needed to get a supervisor to cancel the Deal Bucks and refund my card. I then asked if I would get an email, alerting me to the fact. She said I would get one if I wanted. Why wouldn't I when the other person got one without requesting it? I later got an email saying I would receive $26 dollars to my PayPal account. But when I checked my LivingSocial Deal Bucks - $0. Why zero when I have $6 prior? Now, I need to call again and take another hour out of my life to get $6 in Deal Bucks back!!! I will dump the $6 in Deal Bucks ASAP so I can unsubscribe from all LivingSocial emails. I will tell everyone to avoid them.

Worst site ever

I purchased a summer pass for my husband, kids and I . I had an email from the company stating that my vouchers had been received and redeemed. I went to get our cards printed today and enjoy a day at the pool. They had no record of my pass. My confirmation emails from Living Social disappeared. I tried to log into their website with my email address and it said that I did not have an account. Thankfully the company was very accommodating and issued my passes. They advised that Living Social had been taking customers money but not forwarding any money to them and not activating their deals as promised. Living Social is a SCAM!!

False ad, no return allowed

The sheet set I ordered was advertised as being made from Bamboo. When it came, it turned out to be 60% Polyester, something i absolutely didn't want. I demanded a postage-free return, but was told their policy is "no refunds." Their agent is still trying to get them to respond, but it's been a week and no results so far.
UPDATE: it's now 5/27 and they did finally send me a return label after several strong demands. But I'll be removing myself from their list.
