Local Traders Direct is a helpful site to use to find a trader. I had several replies very quickly

Prepare to be bombarded by every tom, d”ck and harry rouge trader in the county. All i wanted was a bit of advice where to go and now im being called, texted, whatsapp’d and emailed at all times of the day and night. Biggest mistake i did putting my details into this site.

I received one reply from a named company and one from someone who did not identify themselves other than to contact a mobile number. It seems that the companies you deal with are not interested in a small project.

The website was easy to use and I had a very good response rate. Would recommend.

contacted three local surveyors. The first responded immediately and told me I was to far away, and a single visit wasn't worth the effort, although I am 20 miles away from their registered business address, live in Norfolk and their website states they cover all of Norfolk, including all towns, coastal areas and villages.
The second reply told me that they could visit the following day although they had increased their charges by £20 (24%) above the advertised rate due to additional checks they now had to make. Strange that they hadn't updated their fee structure on the website to reflect the additional work required!!!! The third company I contacted which is also 20m away from my home didnt bother to respond.

It was useful but I have been inundated/ overwhelmed with responses and telephone calls so need time to consider my choice

Inundated with cold calls and emails for services I didn't want or need... Despite me emailing asking them to stop sharing my contact information!

Given a choice of local surveyors. Found one charging half of my own solicitors estimate. All done and dusted within a week.

Easy to use, came back with five accredited firms. One was no good, the one I chose however so far seem to be excellent.

Put you on too cowboy firms like McCallums Property Surveying.
Clearly stated what I needed in a report to them and they didn't listen and now ignoring my dispute claim from my bank as they know their in the wrong.
I don't think local surveyors direct vet any of their recommendations they probably all just pay a fee to be recommended and that's it...
