Racist and unprofessional treatement

Extremely unprofessional, rude and racist. I called the place beforehand and asked about opening hours and whether tickets needed to be purchased, I was told it was not necessary as long as we arrive between 10 pm and 11 pm. We arrived 10:30 pm, left standing outside for some time and then we were told it's only for members. That was incorrect as it wasn't mentioned on their website and staff assured me on the phone that the place is open as normal. We were a group of Muslim and Eastern European girls and from the staff's discriminatory attitude, it was obvious that was the reason they didn't want to let us in.
It's very disappointing to experience such hurtful encounter in this day and age.

THIS IS NOT THE 1980s

There’s a lot of rambling reviews on here I’ll put it simply- IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GENUINE 1980s NIGHT OUT DON’T GO HERE

It’s more like a 20 or 30 year olds idea of what the 80s were like - for example nobody ever drank out of a Rubik cube and nobody danced to Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5

Worse than that they played songs from the future eg Amy Winehouse’s 2007 song Valerie Flo Rida - Good Feeling (2011)
Gala - Freed From Desire (1997), with most people singing the football chant words
Cher - Believe (1998)

There’s no dance floor as such just a crush of Chelsea Boys n Girls punching the air whilst getting hammered- you can’t sit down either we were moved by a rude short little security man.

As a teenager I went clubbing in the 80s in London and locally it was nothing like Maggies - Steve Strange must be spinning- but then I doubt most people in Maggies would know who he was anyway

I had previously looked into becoming a member which states “Please note:
All guests must be over 21 and old enough to remember the 1980's” clearly that’s not true
so glad I didn’t apply!

My Maggie's Experience

My experience trying to get into this club was not pleasant because the door staff made us feel like we were not welcome. We were looked up and down and then asked for our IDs, we then began to present our IDs, and my cousin had his id on his phone, that's when we were rejected by a lady who was at the door at present. The door lady then began to recommend other clubs to us in a nonchalant way. I have been told by my colleagues who are of different ethnicity have said they didn't have to present their id to enter Maggie's. My cousin and I felt singled out based on our ethnicity, and neither of us will go back to Maggie's.
