Misleading Product Sizing – Be Cautious Before You Buy

Misleading Product Sizing – Be Cautious Before You Buy

I recently purchased the “small” Appearing Teddy Bear from MS Magic, advertised as being 75 cm. What I received measures only 59 cm from toe to ear using any standard measuring method. Even when using their own unconventional method—measuring along the curve of the bear’s body—it only comes to 63 cm.

They provided a photo to justify the size, but even in that image the measurement isn’t convincing. The tape measure is angled and doesn’t clearly show where it begins, making the result both unclear and questionable. Nowhere on the product page does it mention this alternative way of measuring, nor is there any clarification that 75 cm refers to a non-standard “contour” method.

If I measured my own height using that method—up the belly and over the nose—I’d be over seven feet tall. It’s misleading, plain and simple.

MS Magic did offer a refund—but only if I returned the item at my own expense. As an international customer, this leaves me out of pocket for an item that was not as advertised. They then offered a 20% discount on my next purchase—but only if I kept the item. That’s not a fair resolution.

Suggestions for Improvement:
Advertise accurate dimensions. Use standard, accepted measuring methods. If alternative methods are used, clearly explain and justify them on the product page.

Offer fair resolutions. When an item differs significantly from what was advertised, return shipping costs should not fall on the customer. A partial refund, store credit, or replacement would be a more appropriate gesture.

I really wanted to like the item—and I do like the concept. But misleading product descriptions and weak customer service don’t inspire confidence. Buyers beware: always double-check dimensions before ordering.
