I was looking for an Island.

I was looking for an Island to be installed in my Kitchen so decided to have a look in "Make" just off the Boucher Road. Bad mistake!

We decided on a particular design and colour and instructed them to go ahead and order. We were asked to pay a £120.00 deposit (roughly 10%) which we did, not a problem. We were told to allow 3/4 weeks delivery.

3/4 weeks went by and I received a voicemail asking me to contact the showroom, great I thought, my Island is ready.

When I finally got through to the showroom I was told that the salesman who took the order was busy and that he would phone me back, he never did!

The following week I phoned again, this time I got the salesman. I thought he was going to give me the good news that my Island was in but No. They were contacting me only to tell me that I hadn't paid enough deposit so they couldn't order my Island, we paid what the salesman asked us for. 4 weeks after our visit they had done absolutely nothing with the order, the salesman said he had forgotten all about us.. He said if I wanted I could cancel my order! I told him no and that I still wanted my Island so we paid another £400.00 so they could now order it. Another bad mistake!!

Two weeks later I got a call to say that my Island was now in stock, Hurray!

We arranged delivery for the following week only to be told the day before that they were struggling to do it on the agreed day and could I change to another day, after rearranging our diaries we agreed.

I had a fitter waiting for the goods to be delivered so he could start fitting. Shortly after delivery my fitter informed me that the end panels were different sizes and the grains were running in opposite directions and two of the feet were missing. He told me that he could cut the panels to size and make them fit but couldn't do anything about the grain running in different directions. I really couldn't be bothered complaining to Make as I didn't have the time to wait for new materials and just felt that they were not interested in our purchase full stop! Only a £1200 order, not the 5 or 6k they would have preferred. So I instructed the fitter to install anyway.

All in all a bad experience with this outfit. I really would reconsider using another company if you are thinking of giving these people your business.

Kitchen from hell

Kitchen from hell. After taking my£17,000 thats where the customer service finished. They arrived rip out the old kitchen on a Friday leaving us with no sink or cooker even though we payed for a tempory sink. (three weeks later we are still without a sink) kitchen fitters here for four days fitting damaged kitchen units ie Split backs to cupboard, chipped, shelves. chipped doors, delaminated backs to cupboards, bulges in the chipboard where screws have been put in, to top it all none of the units were straight and door handles are not straight too many issues to mention the whole experience is making me ill.. The kitchen was not fitted to plan so they were not able to fit the granite work surfaces but the best bit is they are now asking us to pay more for their mistakes. I hate the kitchen i payed top money and have something that is not finished and looks second hand cheap rubbish. All wrens do is pass you round blaming various other people and take no responsibility to the fact that they sold us the kitchen and their fitters fitted the kitchen.
They refused to take the kitchen away and give me my money back. Please think carefully before using wrens as you too could end up with something that looks nothing like what you have been shown or payed for.
Going into week four they have sent replacement items with
the same damage as the ones they have fitted. Still no sink or hob.
Wrong handles and redilervering the units for the 3rd time
The sink has finally been fitted, of course this is Wrens and in true style the sink has been fitted crooked, and also the plumber caused a leak underneath my sink all over the new laminated floor put in by another fitter from another buisness. Told that the plumber would come back and put the sink in straight (this is in the granite work top that i payed £6,000) plumber never turned up after we waited in all day.
Five weeks on and my living room is still being used by Wrens a storage for old and new kitchen units cant sit and watch TV as no room in living room, still no sign of fitters. Any one else in this possition we need to get together and take this further.
Fourth delivery wrong items, items that are right have same damage, delivery men rude when you tell them to take items back as your living room is not big enough to store all the damage items. Constantly tripping up on things left by them. Got my fingers trapped in the draws trying to open them as still no handles. Best still they say as far as they are concerned they have fitted our kitchen. Even though there are missing handles, wrong doors, wrong counter top, no pelmits as payed for, sink is not straight, living room and garge is loaded with their rubbish.,
And all they can say is they are sorry, well sorry is just not good enough i want more than sorry for all the stress and upset they have put me through 33 years i have worked and saved upfor this kitchen and this is the rubbish they have fitted!

WORST COMPANY EVER

I am 62 years old, this is the WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I have waited 3 years to do this review,

The Kitchen was ordered in November and pain for in FULL,,,

First mistake NEVER pay in full HOLD BACK some money.

On fitting of the kitchen in December I noticed there were no under cabinet lights being fitted, I questioned the electrician, he said to contact Make, which I did, I was informed on the order there was no mention of the lights, I said I had ordered them with the salesman, was then informed he was an independent from the company as were the fitters.

Second mistake NEVER deal with a company that has independent fitters and salesmen.

You then get the run around being shuttled from one to the other. The lights were fitted. Shortly after fitting I noticed water coming out from below the sink. I looked to see water dripping from the U Bends. I rang Make . I was told to phone the fitting contractor ,,, with a promise to get it resolved ASAP a week passed, I gave up and tackled the job myself,, to find the fittings were cross threaded. Stripped the whole system out re did it with Glue and then siliconed the whole lot, job done 3 years ago still waiting for the plumber.

Next was at Christmas noticed the sides of the units at the cooker hood started bubbling, Rang Make, eventually someone came out to asses it I think about 3 weeks. Measured up and about another2 weeks new sides were fitted, Which were fully sealed, which should have been fitted in the first place to prevent the problem. Then after about a a year and a half maybe more . Sick of hitting my head on some of the lift up eye level units and not others. Realised after opening them all two of them were drooping down, on further inspection noticed they had only ONE strut fitted instead of TWO as with the others another call to make again about 3 weeks assessed and the fitter came out with the wrong struts about 3 weeks later, had to now order the correct ones again about 3 weeks.

I had noticed that the under unit lights some were soft lighting and some were bright lighting . At the stage I was fed up with Make and couldn’t bring myself to get this sorted, After about another 6 months I couldn’t look at them any more and contacted Make. I was asked why did I wait so long. I explained that I had been ground down with problems with the company and was fed up of ringing and ringing. Someone did come out about 4 weeks later measured them up and said they would have to be ordered. Which they were about 7 weeks later I rang was told they were in and would be fitted about a week later I got a call that they had been used on another job. Then 4 weeks or so Fitter came out,, and Yes they were the wrong ones . About 5 weeks or so . New ones arrived and fitted. Next they started falling off of the underside of the units. I was watching them being fitted. The under surface of the units should have been cleaned with methylated spirits first which they weren’t, then one by one they started coming loose and dropping off... I decided no point in contacting Make, I Cleaned the surfaces and used two part epoxy resin to refit them. Shortly after one of the LED strips stopped working. We rang Make, their response was. “You will have to pay for it as we have made a reasonable effort to fix it” I decide NO WAY so I investigated it. I removed the kick board and started testing the 12v circuit working back to the transformer. NO POWER. started looking at the 240v end of the transformer, To my horror the live wire into the transformer wasn’t secured and hanging loose obviously had been arcing on the unit which caused the transformer to burn out and not work, even could have caused a fire.

What I have found with Make Kitchens,,, If you have problems you get the run around they make you chase them, they try to grind you down.

What I did notice their Snagging Fitter has twice changed in the time we have had them out, says volumes.

Today we take the transformer back to Make and see their response. Bought a new one off of E bay. decided not worth the effort to go back to this Company. To sum it up with every problem we had to Chase chase chase and go on our knees to get things done. Buyers beware if you get problems be prepared to CHASE CHASE CHASE, if things go wrong. i have to add all contact with Make kitchens I had contact contact contact. they are terrible on getting back to you.
