Absolutely awful gym - for a high monthly price they offer a ‘spa’ which includes a dirty steam room, jacuzzi and sauna - all of which have been open maybe once in the past 365 days.
Air con never works in the gym, leaks everywhere, roof fell through and hasn’t been fixed, mould EVERYWHERE.
Waste of money.

The toilet had a big buildup of limescale and grime. Towel had brown marks. Grimy shower tiles/poor drainage. Not sure what they were serving as apple juice. Took 1 sip & stopped. Biget was dirty. The sauna was not working, yet advertised on their website. Jacuzzi was gritty. Management very poor & unfazed. Worst hotel experience ever. Appauling, shocking & disppointing: all this during a 2-night stay.
Manor of Groves
Despite bad reviews I like this place, it’s friendly and comfortable. The staff are amazing especially Jakub on reception so helpful and professional. We’ve stayed here a few times and always had a nice stay, the Manor House has so much character and lovely rooms. We will definitely be back
Very dated needs tlc
I can not fault the staff at this hotel, they were inviting, friendly and helpful. The 3 course meal was pretty decent, starter carrot and coriander soup slightly curry sauce like but was actually quite nice, chicken supreme was delicious I would have again in a heartbeat, sadly the cheese board dessert was rather disappointing, this must have been prepared and keep in fridge all day as crackers were soggy, cheese was hard and tasteless and grapes had wilted a didn't taste good. The bedrooms are very dated and need of a good modernisation. Shower kept changing from cold to boiling hot (which was not a fun experience). The bar area was in the reception and needed a bit of TLC. The hotel overall was very dated, lots of water marks on ceilings and carpets and just needed to be updated. I wouldn't recommend or return to this hotel.
A sad experience
I booked xmas dinner for 6. No drinks when we arrived. Table set for 5 not 6 yet pre ordered all meals/people a month in advance. Bread plates on table no breads supplied. 1 canopy on plate nothing else. Main meal supposedly served with seasonal veg........1 large uncooked slice of carrot, 1 large slice of parsnip, 4 Brussels and anemic dry roast potatoes. My cheese and biscuits were inedible as a third of the plate was covered in pickle which leaked onto my cheese, grapes, biscuits and I dislike it, I thought it would come in a separate dish. Coffee was served......it was like a frothy coffee from a machine in high street cafe and all coffee I've purchased were better than this........barely warm and tasteless. I wouldn't have got mince pies unless I asked for them.....when I did .....shop bought. The whole experience was disappointing, the meal at £110.00 per person was over priced and the meal lacked in quality and quantity for a so called 3 star hotel experience!!! Also I'm owed a refund for personal gym training thextrainer left nearly 8 weeks on and I'm still waiting for my refund!!!!!
Dissapointed experience
No atmosphere in conservatory, no music just quiet. Dirty floors full of wasps on floor in November and just a grim environment. Sandwiches not tasty and bland, not too keen on cakes so did ask for another sandwich but was told I would have to pay for it. Most places they are free flowing. Will not return
Terrible massage
Terrible massage, Jacuzzi not working, you have to pay for towels... overall terrible. Stay away.

Just had afternoon tea here manor of groves disappointed very young inexperienced staff the cups plates and teapots very plain white not nice thick and bulky my friend didn’t like scones asked if we could swap them for cakes was told by the chef he had unfrozen the scones so we couldn’t replace with cakes I felt the experience was less then desirable won’t be going again 😞
Afternoon tea with vegan option, absolutely terrible
To start with we had a crazy long wait even though there was just two of us and another table of six people, the coffee was weak and sent back the standard afternoon tea selection was poorly made, my wife’s vegan option was 50% cheese sandwiches with no butter on dry and curling bread. Scones broke up into crumbs. Dirty tables not cleared next to us. So bad we complained and was discounted half of 1 tea serving. Takes the absolute mickey. Nice afternoon my wife turned into an awful experience with staff apologies that didn’t seem genuine and a manager that hid in his office
Maddie, manor of groves health spa
Just had a fantastic massage from Maddie in the Health Spa at Manor of Groves. Very professional. Good hotel in lovely surroundings. Only a shame the lift was not working but staff more than willing to help. Natalia was particularly welcoming and helpful.

Ratpack evening 14th Feb 2025 was disgraceful! Falsely advertise with a solo act who barely sang any of their songs. Rude staff, inexperienced, unprofessional who were of no help we had no hot water the entire staff. Due to poor management and communication, this so called country club employs teenagers who have no interpersonal skills. Totally and utterly indespicable. There was no management apart from a reception manager Cathy who was rude and unhelpful and put the phone down on me.. SHAMBLES!!

Stayed here two weeks in a row...unfortantly. Really run down hotel. First visit took me three rooms to find one that had not had its door put through. Second visit, stayed in the old manor part of the hotel, trhe furniture in the room had seen better days, chipped and stained as was trhew carpet. Bathroom sealent hanging off, rustly taps. I could not get wifi so asked the reception who told me guests bring their own wifi boosters to get the hotel wifi in that part of the building. Gym is tired, machines are all on there last legs. But I have to say the staff were all nice, just a shame they have so many issues with the facilities on offer. Never again

Afternoon tea
Booked afternoon tea for myself and my daughter with a voucher I had won in a raffle and added an extra place for my granddaughter. Staff were polite but when tea bought to table nothing was explained as to what was on the trays. Cakes were obviously not made in house and we had to ask for serviettes and tea spoons. Scones were below par too. We were expecting to have the tea overlooking the grounds but were put in (I assume) the restaurant which wasn't a particularly nice view. We were advised that there was a party in the normal room they use. It would have been nice to let us know before we booked. Overall it was an OK afternoon tea but I have been to much better places.
Sell on your information
My daughter had a gym membership but unfortunately was made redundant 3 months into the membership, she called the Manor of Groves to inform them that there was no way she could now afford the membership any more even though she was in a 12 month contract, the lady she spoke to at the time was very matter of fact and said she was tied into the contract even though my daughter would have no income for the foreseeable future no sympathy what so ever towards her situation , fast forward 2 years of hearing no more she has now found out that the Manor of Groves have sold on her debt and she is now being chased for nearly £500, indespicable behaviour from them especially in the circumstances surrounding her redundancy, they should be ashamed of themselves in this economic state that most people are experiencing,
Dreadful restaurant
My Daughter stayed here on the night of her 18th Birthday with her partner. She asked us (MuM & Dad) if we would like to join them for dinner. The best I can say about the restaurant is its similar to a average motorway café! The ceiling tiles are broken or filthy dirty and absolutely 0 atmosphere! The food was Okay but the service was slow. My wife ordered a Coffee liquor and when served the young waitress said I wasn't sure if you wanted cream so I made a latte and poured Tia Maria in it, it was awful! We booked the meal on the Hotel website and mentioned it was my Daughters 18th but sadly this was missed. The external grounds and driveway to the hotel are beautiful but please do not let this fool you, once inside you will find a very dull looking hotel run by children!
The hotel need a refurbish
The hotel need a refurbish. Be aware of thieves, had our belongings stolen from our suitcase before it was taken to our room. I have my suspicions.
Dreadfully disappointed
Unfortunately we were unable to use the pool as they have very specific times for children which wasn’t made clear when I made the reservation. The room wasn’t made up during the stay and a curtain fell down meaning we had to sleep with outside light coming in. This also wasn’t rectified. There was no lift to my room and I had to struggle up the stairs with a pram. The room had no window that opened and no air con. There was a lot of damp in the corridors. I asked to speak to a manager but none was available.
Afternoon inedible tea
Had afternoon tea , waitress was excellent but no matter how nice they cannot do nothing about the food , stale bread , asked for no salmon and got salmon , scones where borderline weapons . Would be better served with golf clubs. And the cakes where packet long life sponge dry . Shoe pastry was rubber and macaroons where chewy. In all a fiver from aldi would have been better. Nothing is fresh or made in house . Only reason it got 2 stars was the poor waitress was doing her best under impossible circumstances.
Went for an overnight spa stay
Went for an overnight spa stay. Run down, needs a big makeover. Cleanliness was ok, but the health club could have been much better. Ladies shower area for one, lots of scale, dirty bins, just not that clean.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Apart from the lady on the desk at breakfast, very miserable, curt, totally disinterested and unapproachable. The whole place needs a makeover. Rusty railings outside health club, unkempt garden round the side of the pool outside. Would not recommend or return.
