Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 64 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many individuals frequently complained about deeply unhelpful customer service experiences, long waiting times, and a complete lack of accountability or empathy from management teams when problems arose. Visitors also noted excessive price increases, unexpected extra charges on their bills, and completely unresolved issues regarding their hotel bookings or missing items. However, some customers also noted that certain staff members were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and provided prompt assistance during their visits. A few other reviewers genuinely enjoyed wonderfully clean rooms, fantastic accommodations, and pleasant hotel locations while staying at specific properties.

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry
I was subjected to xenophobia (golf staff making fun of my British accent), after I complained the hotel reception gave out my personal information to the member of staff I had complained about and then said staff member made unsolicited contact with me using his personal email.

Compensation was a few hundred dollars when I paid over 3000 dollars for my stay.

I was really unhappy with the whole situation during my stay and it tarnished my holiday.

Please read reviews and do the research
I stayed at the location LEWISVILLE TX
Be prepared to be charged TWICE!!
And note they charge for parking per day. And INCIDENTAL charge per day of $20 My room had no microwave and hair dryer. The iron was dirty or burnt at the bottom. Ruined my top for the evening. I will not go back and I will dispute the charges. I left after two night stay. Went to La Quinta in Gainesville Tx and very clean $89 dollars per night. Free parking and I did have a microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, and a nice clean iron!!

I stayed 77 days because the staff are good.

Igor & Carlos show tact and diplomacy in making guests comfortable. Hussein and his security team keep the hotel calm and safe.

Mahir makes the Captain's Arms a friendly and joyful English pub. Amin in reception is clever and professional and has an honest smile. Orawan and Winari give outstanding medically informed therapeutic massage

The customer service in the Reservations Department/Call Center

The customer service in the reservations department is nonexistent. The agents and so-called “supervisors” are ill-mannered; they will disconnect once they feel they’ve had enough of speaking with you, even if you’re bonvoy member, even when you’re not rude & regardless of your situation. I’m baffled at the lack of professionalism & quality service, called back to complain and ask if the calls were monitored - got someone just as abrasive, who did absolutely nothing about my complaint regarding their customer service. Marriott needs to seriously work on their reservations department… Hire a quality assurance team, listen to the recorded calls and train to provide world class service. This experience was a reminder of why I’ve been such a loyal Hilton customer.

I have to say... yuck

I have to say, in all of my years being a Marriott member, I have NEVER been so disappointed with any of your other facilities.

For $200+ per night…. We got to stay in a room that had no shampoo, the towel bar was broken, it felt dirty, the hallway was definitely dirty, only one coke machine in 10 floors worked, it was just not the normal quality I expect from Marriott.

There was no inclusive breakfast, for the food that was included in my conference…. Everytime there was chicken… which was everytime…. It was overcooked and then left to get dryer as it was brought to the banquet table until we could get at it.

Truly a major disappointment.

Washington DC Navy Yard Courtyard

I booked a room at The Washington DC Navy yard Courtyard on points and used one of my suite night upgrades. I received an email the other day confirming the upgrade. I arrived at the hotel and was told the only rooms left were “wheel chair” accessible but I was assured it was the same corner king as indicated by the email. When I got to the room it smelled like a dumpster and the shower head was only 4 foot tall. The room was not the corner king with city view. The employee was deceitful. A call to the front desk and they moved us to another standard room. The Manager, who was in the building, could not be bothered to speak with me. I have been a loyal Marriott customer for over 20 years and Lifetime Platinum Elite. I am done with Marriott. This is the fourt or fifth incident I have had with them since covid. Time for me and my team to spend our travel budget elsewhere.

Moxy Hotel in Chester UK

We spent two nights here. We had to speak to the management about the air conditioning on the first day, it got to 26.5 degree celsius in our room and that was with our window wide open; it got so hot that we had to get a member of staff to come up to see for themselves. We were told the next day that someone had been into the room to look at the issue - but when we checked the thermostat, the settings hadn't changed and neither had the temperature. This meant another night with the window wide open hence no choice but to listen to loud people outside, even though we were two floors up ! It meant we were uncomfortable throughout our stay, had terrible sleep and left an awful first impression.

$296 For Two Nights Parking: TOTAL RIPOFF

$296 For Two Nights Parking: RIP OFF HOTEL

Once a lovely Hotel Chain - to which I had a Membership.

Has become a greedy. predatory chain. That adds absurd charges to your bill - after you check out..

Customer Service: Non Existent.. Take the Money and RUN . If you object - get lost.

A total BLIGHT on the industry. Have asked major travel sites to add a Predatory Practices warning.

I have torn up my card.. Urge others to do the same..
Or, if you trust them do not be surprised to see exorbitant BS charges on your bill - when you get home

Lovely hotel BUT,,,

The St.Kitts Marriott Hotel, is a lovely hotel, friendly, clean and many restaurants to choose from BUT, please marriott, educate your staff about data protection. I know skn is a small island and you are all clicky, (a bit to far) but, please let your staff know it's not okay to give information to their friends outside the hotel. Guest personal information which is private, when they arrive and when they leave and their movements. That is so unprofessional. Wake up!

20 years ago I used to be a Marriott…

20 years ago I used to be a Marriott fan. The service was always of the very highest standard. I would recommend any of my business colleagues to stay at their hotels. HOWEVER. I have been trying to book the Westin, Toronto this morning and what a disaster. I waited for 30 minutes on the first call and got 75% through booking and the line went dead. Dalled again and waited 15 minutes for someone to pick up. After going through the process once again I was told their system was slow and I would have to call back. On the 3rd attempt I was on the phone for 40 minutes trying to make the reservation. 25 minutes into the call I was transferred to another operator who was even more clueless than the first person. I got to the point where they were entering my credit card details but told me their system would not accept them. I was asked if I could call back in one hour. At this point i told the operator what a shower of garbage Marriott had become and their customer service was appalling. I got the usual benign apology from the operator. Reading the reviews after being in contact with the Marriott, I'm glad in someway, I didn't make the booking. reviews for this company are alarming. JW Marriott must be turning in his grave. Shame on the incumbent owners......

Horrible Guest Treatment

On June 11, 2022 after experiencing late night car problems on their way back to Charleston, my daughter and her fiancé needed to find a place to stay for the night. The only place available was the Andell Inn on Kiawah Island SC. At 12:45 am they consented to a room rate of $389 not including any incidental fees. Their credit card was swiped and they were given 2 room keys. Around 9:45am she decided to go downstairs before breakfast service ended while her fiancé’ stayed in the room to get a little bit more sleep. Before she could even finish a bite of breakfast, she was approached by two tall women wearing golden name tags stating they were employees of the hotel and that she needed to gather her things immediately, because they had just entered my room and found a man passed out on the bed and her credit card was declined and they wanted her off the property. She suffered extreme embarrassment and humiliation because the employees were not discreet at all. She tried to give another form of payment but was denied the opportunity. She was then rudely escorted through the lobby back to her room and given very little time to gather her items before being escorted to a side exit of the hotel. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until they reached the parking lot that she realized that she left her ring box with her engagement ring and a ring that left to her by her deceased grandmother. Both her and her fiancé tried to re-enter the hotel but were aggressively denied entry and told that the police were being called. They felt it best to leave. When she called hotel back to talk with the manager and ask about her rings and why they were kicked off the property. She was told that she was kicked out because she was on hotel property after checkout time, they were clearly under the influence of some type of drug and that her card was declined. She has tried multiple times to contact Marriott for this horrible treatment, and provided all information especially showing where her card was charged and never declined. Marriott has only given the same response that the hotel gave to her. It is very clear that Marriott only cares about their properties and not their customers. We have always stayed on Marriott properties but will NEVER stay with them again!!

Regular Housekeeping Needed!

Overall, the hotel brands provide comfortable and affordable stays, especially Fairfield Inn and Suites. However, it would be even better if your brand of hotels go back to the pre-COVID days of cleaning the hotel rooms on a daily basis, instead of scheduled cleanings or cleaning every 3 days. In fact, now is the time that daily housekeeping is needed and it's absurd that the industry is doing quite the opposite. Infrequent cleanings will only lead to other sanitation issues, like unwanted guests (bugs). This was my experience at a Residence Inn in Virginia. It is also a rip off that hotel accommodation charges are higher and housekeeping is not regular. I hope it doesn't take a health crisis or litigation from a disgruntled guest to effect a change in this policy.

Don't trust the price guarantee

Do not trust the best rate guarantee. I have the highest annual and lifetime status with marriott which means I spend 100+ nights a year there and my business uses them a lot. I recently booked via their site for a weekend believing they would match the best rate which was disappointingly on Trivago/Expedia and took a screenshot of it. They refused.

This is a hospitality company that has…

This is a hospitality company that has lost its way.

This company has lost its way. We had our wedding in Phuket Thailand at Le Meridian Phuket beach resort. We have a general manager that stands up for lying and lazy employees and insists that this employee is good and we have never had problems. We signed a contract over two years ago and had to postpone several times because of covid. This employee messed ups bill not once but twice in a written contract. Messed up a setting chart, messed up an agenda, ignores one party during the rehearsal. Not once ever once did she apologize. A very clear question was asked about status for rooms we booked and this very same employee answer without hesitation yes. Then when it turns out to be false she decides to quote terms and conditions the first time we were ever told about terms and conditions. To this day the general manager makes excuses for her. He claims she was taking direction from my wife and I, he claims she was taking direction from wedding planner. A big fat lie she had the signed off agenda a month in advance she had the signed of seating chart and yet she still refuses to take responsibility for her screw ups. Neither does the general manager. The general manager offered two nights worth of points in compensation for over 12,000 usd in business brought in. Not my concern points cost him money. The value to me the customer is between .17% or .43% of the overall bill we paid depending when we use those nights. so no effort. You try and leave a review on the Marriot site and they say they welcome reviews and yet only randomly select who gets the review link emailed to them. So again a big fat lie on the part of the company. Spend several days on the phone with customer care to be given the run around over and over to be told false information because no one knows what is going on in the company or how to do their job. A Coco Yan a corporate liaison officer spent time going back and forth ignoring emails, then blaming them for not going thru then blaming the customer for typing the email wrong when all I did was hit the reply button. Coco also called in good faith she said to come to amicacble terms and I told her what I wanted and was flexible and she flat out did not move so she lied and waited my time since she had no intention of negotiating in good faith. Then after all of this 5 months later the General Manager proposes that a solution to the problem is to force the employee to apologize to me 5 months later. So clearly a GM that has no concept of customer service. Marriott is the only hotel chain that does not have a way to contact hotels directly. We spent a month before the wedding trying to book the Le Meridian Maldives for the honeymoon to have a month of back and forth and calls with management as they feel something special and romantic is a package next to the kids pool. then after words they wrote the non requested room type and give no excuse when asked about it they simply say sold out.
This company that used to be great has clearly lost its way and will be relegated to the bottom of the hospitality industry if they do not start to fix the shortcomings.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Edmond 301…

Fairfield Inn & Suites Edmond 301 Meline Dr, Edmond, OK 73034
The hotel representative and manager named Imran are very sloppy and rude, they are not available and away from the desks most of the time. There is no water in the gym and when ask to refill, they ignore our request. When we ask for late checkout for elite member, they always find the excuse to not honor. The worst of all, they blame us to be rude to them. We have asked them to testify with us or provide video evidence if we indeed are rude to them, they dont respond. We are very upset not only they are rude themselves but also they accuse us to be rude. We asked manager Imran step up and be responsible for this!

Just another weak company that kowtows to the communist party of genocidal China by refusing to host a Uyghur conference, citing "political neutrality". This translates as profit over people.

The hotel, based on my experience, are overpriced and average. Food is meh.
