On Friday afternoon

On Friday afternoon, I ordered a replacement battery for my APC 1500 UPS from MDS. The ordering process was straightforward, and I promptly received an order confirmation indicating Monday delivery via UPS.

However, I was surprised to receive a follow-up notification from UPS stating the delivery had been rescheduled for Saturday. This was totally unexpected, especially as MDS's own FAQs state they UPS will not deliver on Saturdays. I was unavailable to receive the delivery, and no attempt was made to reschedule.

Later, I checked my doorbell camera and found that an unmarked van had dropped the parcel off at my doorstep and left without obtaining a signature or notifying me. Fortunately, I was able to retrieve the package later that evening.

After inspecting the contents and installing the battery in my UPS, I attempted to power it on -but it wouldn't start. I then discovered that the battery was completely flat, with no charge at all. While the UPS now reports that it is charging, I’m concerned about potential damage to the cells from being stored in a fully discharged state for goodness knows how long.

I will be reporting this to our procurement team, as they may wish to return the item. It’s totally baffling how that a retailer claiming to specialise in UPS batteries would ship one in such poor condition. I won’t be ordering from MDS again, and will advise colleagues and employers to do the same and blacklist this company as a potential supplier.

Great Service, Staff and Products!

I have only used this company once but have had a great experience with them.

My first call to them, where Debbie answered, I was able to have an extensively long conversation with a very knowledgeable representative. She was able to guide and help me make the right decision for which type of battery needed for my intended purpose. Such dedication and patience was shown considering we were on the phone for a very long time.

I did experience a problem with my order but this was dealt with both swiftly and professionally.

I will be using this company again very soon.

Good customer service

I ordered a battery and it was shipped with UPS tracking information the next day.
Due to my mistake I had to return the product and order a new one.
The customer service was extremely helpful and promt in their replies (I used both the webchat and email contacts).
They sent me a return label to arrange the shipment via UPS and, less than one week after the return was shipped, I have obtained a refund, minus the shipping costs, which is totally fair.
In the meantime I received the correct battery and it is working fine (2 weeks, no issues).
All this happened while in the middle of the Covid-19 lockdown; their customer contact was very proactive in explaining the delays (which were minimal anyway) and provided reliable updates on the shipment's status.
I would definitely buy again from them in the future.

Inconsiderate retailing.

I ordered a battery for my motorcycle which was delivered quickly and was well priced and packaged, the note on their website stated that the battery was delivered without acid and it should be filled locally, this is not possible, it is against the law for any organisation to supply acid to a member of the public, to obtain any sulphuric acid based produc you have to be licensed and comply with stringent regulations, be inspected by local trading standard and Industrial health and safety inspectors. MDS are well aware of these restrictions but continue to sell these products.
My various call to them received a very disinterested response, MDS need to face reality and stop selling this type of product. I only found some acid after 3 days searching thanks to a good friend who happened to have some from a purchase he made several years ago.

Do companies really "Prices Match" Anymore?

This battery company advertises a "Price Match" offer, but they do not honour it. "unable to price match against sellers that do not have an actual shop" - even though...

The company that had the better price, were not a online-only seller, they have trade counter.(No doubt they did even bother to check the links) They would not price match, as there advertised price was already their best. (So why have price match in the first place?)

If you see a good price & the item is in stock, buy it, I did.
Don't fall for companies fishing for new customers with those type of offers.

TERRIBLE CUSTOM SERVICE. FAULTY PRODUCT

Purchased a battery with a 12mths warranty, 3 months later returned battery because from day 1 it did not hold correct charge. MDS would not replace under warranty because of marks on outer casing caused by a securing bracket. Sales agent claimed he did not know who the MD of the company was! BEWARE

Ordered in my lunch break - Batteries turned up the next day.

Great little company. I was a bit worried about using this company based on what the other reviews said but i was right to give them a go. I ordered a pack of 10 batteries in needed in my lunch break and they turned up the next day. No problems at all. Plus i found that they were the cheapest for the product i was buying.

Never Never with MDS

I am afraid someone is going to have the same experience with me. I have a ASUS laptop and ordered a AC adapter from their website. However, the jack of that AC adapter doesn't fit into my laptop. Then, I wrote en email to ask them why the model they provided doesn't fit, and ask them about the refund issue. I sent them emails twice, but no one respond till now.

According to their policy, "Faulty goods will be refunded or replaced upon request. Please notify us of any damages or discrepancies within 7 days of receipt." But it appears that the way they dealt with is different. If anyone want the further information, I will be happy to go further. Thanks.
