Must try harder, a lot harder!

After my last pump, I was invited to trial the Medtronics 780g insulin pump with the new Simplera Sensors. I took the offer up as I was not happy with my other pump at all ( not Medtronic)

I had the induction and was given a new pump and Simplera Sensors. All was well, then one failed, having been on a different manufacturers pump with Dexcom, I thought the Simplera sensors was all the same, oh dear how wrong was I!

2 years later and the final straw was when Medtronic again failed to send my supplies out for the umpteenth time.

I have 2 insets left, and ask the customer service lady it’s urgent as you again forgot to send them out and I’m overdue. She said it will be 5-7 days, I ask for an urgent delivery and so she put it down as urgent, now Medtronics have sent a message saying it been delayed! Not the first time either, so I got onto my hospital who have somehow got Medtronic to send them out?

The Simplera sensor it just unfit for purpose, the failure rate is horrendous, each box of 5 sensors is costing the NHS around £350, when it fails they do give you new one but again you have to wait..,,

Being on this pump has made a difference and the aggressive algorithm is very good indeed, I can’t knock it but, it needs a reliable sensor to keep the system working correctly, my pump via sensor read 16.5 and was dosing me accordingly, when I took my glucose test I was in fact just 12.5, and dropping with double arrow down.

I have had so many failures on the Simplera sensor it’s truly scary that the FDA actually passed it, I’m constantly doing calculations all day long, I go to bed at 1 am wake at 8 so 7 hours and it’s out by 2 to 3 points each and every damn day, when I had the Dexcom for comparison, the highest that was out was 0.2.

So now they have decided to bring yet another sensor out called “Instinct” my nurse said she heard good things about it, I haven’t, but what worries me, when I had the Libre 1 & 2 they really were unfit for purpose, made by Abbots, they were way out, I mean way out and in the end I didn’t even bother to ask for them, forward a few years and guess who makes the “Instinct” sensor…….Abbots, I’m not even going to say anything, as I haven’t even got them yet, but I’ll try and do a review when I have tried them for 6-12 months.

To sum up, the insulin pump is a game changer, but it needs a solid foundation to rely on and this Simplera is just not good enough.

I truly hope, the new instinct sensors will change my view, but the customer service is just awful, I certainly won’t have another Medtronic even if the instinct aerator is amazing, I have my new pump in 2 years and I’ve picked it already.

I'm on my second stimulator within one…

I'm on my second stimulator within one year of having my first one, placed in, because my lead's migrated, now the leads are migrant, one that I just had put in December 2023. My advice to anyone do not get a spinal cord implant. They don't work just like the drugs that they use to try to treat our neuropathy, doesn't work. They need to come up with something better. But this company is absolutely trash. I want to be compensated for all of my pain and suffering that I have to go through on a single day every day. I'm in pain I get sharpshooting pains
My pain level has gotten worse. And i'm taking muscle relaxers, just to help with the pain, which doesn't help that much, but it takes the edge off. To me, this is just a greedy company.Putting stuff in people's backs without consequences to them, it's all about money. Well now I want all of my money back and then some for my pain and suffering the healing time that it took. Please, if you or a loved one of yours is looking into this company. Look, elsewhere, and I would try anything else before I would do a spinal cord implantation. And before you say, oh well, you should have tried this. I tried everything leading up to this. Including the injections, the medications, the stimulations. This, that any other this was my last resort. The day that they make you set down at the bottom is not the true date.Mine started in twenty nineteen.

Medtronic's customer support is the most horrendous support you will ever encounter.

Medtronic's customer support is the most horrendous support I have ever had the displeasure of using. A couple of months ago I received an email from them stating they were increasing their support staff. It is my opinion that they should further increase their support staff by at least another 300%. As I write this I have been on hold for 40 minutes and counting. Last time it was almost 2 hours. This company provides MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. Not providing their clients with prompt responses when they have important issues is not only poor - but negligent.

Don’t start with this company

Don’t start with this company! Your health is more important than sitting on hold. When pump and sensors work, they do well. BUT if you ever need help forget it. They will not answer the phone or return calls. Can’t handle the business they have been given. Just start with another company!

Formal Complaint Regarding Customer Service and CareLink Account Issue

Dear Medtronic Customer Service Team,

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the customer service I received on Friday, 17th July 2026, regarding an issue with my insulin pump and the CareLink account.

I have been a diabetic for 30 years and have used a Medtronic pump for the past 10 years. Over this time, I have always appreciated the support and care provided. However, my recent experience has been the worst I have encountered.

On that day, I called your helpline four times to resolve the problem of my information not uploading to my CareLink account, following advice from my hospital. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to get through initially, and when I did, the representatives were often unhelpful, impatient, and spoke with a dismissive tone. My fourth call ended in an especially distressing exchange with a representative whose condescending attitude made me feel disrespected and upset. I had to end the call without a solution, feeling nearly in tears.

Customer service should be supportive, respectful, and patient, especially in situations involving medical devices and chronic health conditions. I am concerned about the noticeable decline in service and the apparent shift away from the personalized care I was accustomed to when dealing with your Irish or English teams.

I hope you take this complaint seriously and take steps to improve the quality of your customer service. I would appreciate a prompt response addressing this issue and assistance in resolving the technical problem with my CareLink account.

It would be in your best interest to ensure your staff are trained properly.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Majella

I was not given a trial period which I understand is common practice and it was placed in my body permanently. The representative at my surgery was confused but did not raise a flag because she was leaving on maturnity leave the next day. I had no representative for the first 5 to 6 months. I have gotten very minimal to no help with the product since it was placed. The first rep was unbelievably cruel regarding my situation with my husband passing. I had to request another. I finally got a good rep but she was promoted. I call and leave messages and texts with no reply from my new rep. The product hurts and doesn't work and I can't get any help.

Medtronic’s Terrible Support

Medtronic’s Terrible Support
Keep getting failing Simplera Sync Sensors and they never have enough supply to meet demand.

Now awaiting 5 failed sensors to be replaced sone for three weeks.

They keep no stock in UK as all comes from Netherlands in Environmentally unfriendly packaging.

Senior management all appear to be hiding under their desks. They keep signing up new customers to these sensors but cannot meet demand.

If you are going to a new Hybrid Loop System avoid Medtronic - they are incapable of supporting their products.

Worst experience ever. I had to call to get a remote device because the app wasn't compatible with my phone. The rep suggested that I get a new phone so I could use the app. WTF??????

Disappointed Customer

I have been a customer for many years. Unfortunately, Medtronic has become very difficult to deal with. The hold times have been outrageous and simple problems have become very difficult to rectify.

First off the diabetes pump tried to…

First off the diabetes pump tried to murder me. Multiple times. Customer service is usually good, if it didnt take HOURS of waiting. Before I accepted this product, they answered, they replied, they responded IMMEDIATELY. Now all you do is WAIT for hours. Terrible, dog shit wait times. It is ridiculous. Most people work, and can't sit on the phone for 2, to 6 hours, for a simple solution. Sick and tired of this b.s. customer service. Will be inquiring my insurance for another diabetes pump and sensor combo. If I could rate 0 stars I would. For years it has been a battle.

I am very disappointed with the wait…

I am very disappointed with the wait time whenever I call for help!!! I am on hold on average of 2 1/2 hrs to the point that I hang up!!! I don’t have that kind of time to sit and wait for help when my pump will not sync with my instinct sensor. I was changing my sensor at about 10:30pm. I accidentally deleted the CGM number on my pump and there is no place to add the CGM number. I tried to figure it out on my own but no luck!!! I searched the booklets and every option in the app and on the pump but no luck!!!!
I have left messages with a Medronics rep with no return calls!!!
This is absolutely unacceptable especially for a 24 hr service!
What is a patient suppose to do when they need help!!!!!
Please tell me because I am out of options and I’m getting really pissed!!!!!

Angry customer!!!!
Shelley!!!

Medtronic is an unreliable product

Medtronic is an unreliable product, apparently so much so that customer service is constantly overwhelmed. If they cannot work out the reliability issues, they need to add more customer support. Once fraud is driven out of the government’s healthcare system, maybe a better product can be procured or at least have better support for this inferior product and service.

Extremely angry and frustrated.

This has got to be one of the most frustrating companies to get information from in South Africa. It seems that when you try and find out information regarding the doctors that actually fill the apparatus, they are very few and very far between. It is unacceptable that doctors offer this companies apparatus to people who live with pain and then there is no back up service whatsoever when it comes to dealing with the refilling of the pumps that are supplied by this company. For nearly a year I have been trying to get hold of the one and only doctor who did do the refills, as per a rep from Medtronic, only to find out a year later that she no longer does it and now we must contact another doctor who's taken over from that doctor. We were told that the new doctor has all the files from the old doctor only to find out that the doctor doesn't have the file. How do you sell or promote a product where you don't have enough back up to maintain the product. People have to travel for Km's (sometimes 100's of km's) to get their device refilled and then it's a whole other scenario when you now have to find the kit they need to fill it. What is wrong with you have you no shame promoting something that you are fully aware of the fact that there are not enough doctors doing the procedure. As an example: 2 doctors in the whole of KZN and 1 doctor in the whole of Gauteng. Really people get your act together.

I have been using Medtronic's for…

I have been using Medtronic's for decades. the last 3 to 4 years they have been nothing but impossible to deal with. First, I returned a pump for credit, they received it and kept telling me to wait and the credit will be processed. It never was they sent it to collections. Second, my transmitter barely last a year and I need a one? Every year? I called tech support 3 days ago and no one has called me back. Now I have to fight a clueless collecting agency and hope to god I can get it resolved since they refuse to send me supplies now. Stay away!!

No support if you leave the country. Hideous situation.

I had a neurostimulator installed in 2020. It saved my life, the support used to be great. I had a replacement neurostimulator installed in 2023. It migrated and broke through the skin recently when I moved to Colombia. Medtronics refused to give me any contact info for local reps or to recommend a local spoecialist. Just "Go to the ER".

Lack of Support

My husband uses your insulin pump 780G. I am writing to express my serious concern regarding a critical incident that occurred on Sunday, May 3, 2026
On that day, the pump became stuck in Suspend Mode, which prevented my husband from receiving his insulin. He immediately contacted your customer service department and was placed on hold for over five hours. I also tried to reach support and was on hold for more than an hour. Eventually, a representative informed me that she needed to transfer me to another department. I explained the urgency of the situation, as my husband was feeling weak and nauseous at the time. Despite this, I was transferred and left on hold for another hour without ever speaking to a representative.
As his condition worsened, he became severely ill and was ultimately hospitalized overnight.
I find it extremely unfortunate and unacceptable that we were unable to get the assistance needed during this emergency. The lack of timely support put my husband's health at significant risk, and I am very dissatisfied with your customer service response.
