Beautiful, affordable, cruelty-free vegan make-up!
I recently switched to a plant-based diet, and thought it was time to reconsider my choice in make-up too, as many lipsticks etc. contain animal fats.
After much digging around, I came across 'MEMI'. I checked out their products in their online store. Everything looked good, and the prices were suprisingly reasonable.
There weren't many reviews, so going ahead with an order felt like a bit of a gamble, but me and my mam really needed some fresh make-up, the neutral shades really appealed, and, perhaps most crucially of all, mam's from Yorkshire and so is MEMI - 'Well, I have to order from them now!'
During the order I had a bit of trouble with the registration form, as it kept asking for my phone number, even though I'd already entered it. I couldn't get past this stage, so I emailed support and got a response within the hour. I now know, if you run across the same problem, just skip the registration and go straight to checkout. Sorted!
Before finalising the order, I contacted support again with another query, and the response was just as prompt, friendly and helpful as the first. This really meant a lot, as I didn't want to mess up mam's order.
The make-up arrived today. As soon as we opened it, we were immediately impressed by the quality of the card packaging and the compacts and containers. The lipstick case actually conceals a spring, so the stick can be locked in, then popped out, as needed. I've never seen that before!
The eye-shadow palettes were much larger than expected, nice shades and beautiful quality, with a good sized built-in mirror. Once again, the casing is very sturdy, so I'll have no worries chucking it in my handbag.
The liquid eyeliner contains a ballbearing, to maintain consistency - you can hear it when you shake it. Again, this is a feature I haven't seen before. The applicator is very soft and fine, without being whispy, and produces a nice, steady, deep black line. I could paint delicate details with this thing, if I had the skill!
Wrapping things up, me and mam are delighted with everything in our order. Both of us are really surprised at the quality and value of the products, and the care and consideration that has gone into the presentation and packaging, to say nothing of the ethics behind the products themselves.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, it's good to look to the future, when we can all step out, and enjoy the world together again. I hope that time will be soon. 😊
