Refund Failed by Merchant and Financing Partner – No Resolution After Months
I am filing this complaint regarding Milan Laser Hair Removal’s failure to provide services as represented and failure to ensure completion of an agreed-upon refund.
I purchased an “unlimited” package based on representations that scheduling would be reasonably accessible and flexible. In reality, I was required to book appointments months in advance, which was never disclosed at the time of sale and is not compatible with my work and travel schedule.
In addition, I had appointments that were scheduled months in advance canceled last minute by the laser center, further limiting my ability to receive services. I was also informed that only very limited appointment times were available and was asked to split my treatments across multiple different days in close succession in order to complete different areas. This is not feasible given my schedule and is not what I agreed to when purchasing the package.
Due to these issues, Milan Laser Hair Removal agreed to issue a full refund.
That refund has still not been completed.
Milan processes refunds through Synchrony Bank, and for over six months I have been attempting to obtain the funds owed to me. During this time:
• I have never received the refund check
• The check has never been deposited or cashed
• I requested a stop payment after confirming non-receipt
• Synchrony has repeatedly claimed the check was sent with tracking but has failed to provide any tracking information for months
• Synchrony has now stated they will not reissue the check
This has resulted in an indefinite delay of a refund that Milan already agreed to provide.
I have made extensive efforts to resolve this matter, including numerous calls with both Milan and Synchrony, and have been given inconsistent explanations without resolution. Despite being the originating merchant and the party that agreed to the refund, Milan has not taken appropriate action to ensure the refund is actually completed.
I have already filed complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the California Attorney General’s Office and am prepared to pursue further action if this matter is not resolved.
