Don't Use

I was quoted £90 pounds and decided to send my iPhone 5 16gb in the jiffy bag supplied! 2 days later I receive an email saying the screen is scratched and they will have to replace it, and the new offer is £45. Thats rubbish the screen isn't scratched!!!! Ive asked them to return my phone. I hope its is in the condition before I sent it to them. DO NOT USE!

IT'S A SCAM!!!- CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.

Stated they hadn't received my phone, when gps shows it arrived.

I could have gotten £90 elsewhere and wish I had.

Like many others they will lie and say they did not receive anything or claim to have received a damaged phone and offer you less.

This is a highly suspicious and fraudulently operating company, I am surprised they are still trading.

Terrible company

As many others have said do not send your phone to this company under any circumstances. Seems to be a clear scam working on the basis enough people will either accept their derisory offer or will not send their phone recorded delivery so it will therefore disappear. I'm requesting the return of my phone as soon as they reopen, not 1 bit of interest in any amended offer that they wish to make at this point.

Made up reasons for deductions

I sent them my phone with the case it had been in since new still on but they deducted £16 for the back being damaged - impossible as it had been protected since it first came out the box and had a csreen protector as well.
After compaining to got reduced to £6 but would never trust them again,

Incapable of fulfilling their promise

I dropped my S4. There was damage to the corner of the digitizer, no broken screen, and it powered up fine but with the greeny black screen. I looked into getting it repaired, which would have cost me around 150 to take it to a shop or up to 75 if I wanted to do it myself by buying a new digitizer and screen. I'm sure I can fix it myself but I thought to myself do I want to take that risk?

I'd got a new phone by then and decided since this company deducts the cost of repair (as said, up to about 75 quid), I'd be fine with their £105.

Well. I just had an email from them saying it doesn't power up (have they tried charging the battery because it did the day I sent it!) and there's a scratch on the casing. Miniscule thing in the photo they sent me. So basically I've been paid £0 for something they could have fixed, scratch, new screen and digitizer, for £75.

I've emailed them to ask they send it back to me so I can fix it myself. After all, since it's fixable for under £100, I might as well sort it out myself and give it to my dad or something. I obviously don't expect them to provide a response...

I don't recommend using these guys. They might have 5 stars on the compare websites but they're not even worth a one star.

Will never use again... Avoid!

This was the fourth time I have used mobile phone xchange and it will be the last. Not sure what has happened to this company but all my previous exchanges have been positive receiving my money or vouchers to the full value within two to three days as promised. This time I sent my iPhone 5 special delivery and received an Argos voucher card. I then received an email saying they had inspected the phone and they found a minor crack and they were reducing the value by £11. As it was only £11 I said fair enough and I wasnt going to argue it. I was also told on the email that the Argos voucher card that was sent previously would be available with the amount by the Friday, this was on the Monday. I waited till Sunday before taking a trip to Argos as I decided I would use the voucher to get my sons Christmas present. After choosing the item and proceeding to pay with the Argos card I was then told by the staff that the voucher had no value on it. I phone Argos card service and they told me I would have to contact MPX which I had to wait till the Monday as they were closed on Sunday so I left the store not very happy. I then spent the next week phoning MPX several times trying to get a explanation but was told it would be on the next day. After nearly two weeks and still no credit on the voucher I told them to either send me the money direct to my bank or send back my phone. I then received the money in my bank the next day. This whole experience was exhausting and left me out of pocket with all the phone calls I had to make.

Do not trust

I recently sent of my mobile phone via EE, though not knowing that they used MPX. I sent by special delivery as stated by EE and the package was delivered and signed for the following day. However after 3 days, I started to receive emails from MPX stating that the phone had not been received. I then contacted MPX and they stated that they had the IPhone and it was in its warehouse waiting to be inspected. After inspection they emailed me stating that the "screen was damage" and now only worth 30% of the original quoted price. I contacted them again to ensure that they had the correct handset. They then emailed me back stating the handset was "water damage" hence the revised offer. Both their assessments were contradictory and I believe that no examination of my handset had been done. Hence
I asked them to return my iphone and refused their revised offer.

After 7 days the handset had still not been returned to me, so I contacted them and asked them once again to return the handset. at this point i explained to them that the iphone was examined by a phone retailer prior to sending MPX the handset - and the handset checked and found to be fully functioning and cosmetically like " new condition " with definitely "no water ingress and no screen damage" which was why I wanted the Handset back, so it could be examined by Apple

However, after several emails and letters requesting return of the Iphone, the company have still failed to return the handset. I now have no alternative than to issue legal proceeding against MPX to recover the loss of the Handset at full value

What this space as I will update it as proceedings commence.

Somebody needs to take action against the company as it seems like a lot of people have been mislead and conned by the company.

Totally untrustworthy! Avoid at all costs!

Quoted a price (£165) then claimed the phone was faulty and offered £50. When told them to return offer went up to £90! Got the phone back which is fully functioning and have now sold to Mazuma (who are first rate by the way). Avoid these con artists!

Fully working iPhone not paid for due to 'water damage'

My iPhone 4 16gGb was pristine for a four year old phone. It had been kept in a case with a screen protector and had no scratches or dents. It did have some rub marks on the back of the phone from the case and that was it. I sent it off and have just been told it's been valued as £0 instead of the £58 quoted due to water damage! It's never even seen water!! This site is a complete con!!

Avoid!!! Disgraceful company! Reduced quote!

I sent my phone back using special delivery through the EE recycle service. I paid £7.15 for me postage. The parcel was guaranteed before 1pm the next day and after checking online I could see the parcel had been signed for as received. 9 days and 3 phone calls later and I have just received an email to say that the touchscreen wasn't working...I only got the phone last month through clone phone!!! They have offered me £50 which I am going to refuse as the initial amount quoted was £100. I am disgusted, there was absolutely nothing wrong with my handset when it was sent, this company are absolute con artists and I would advise going to another company instead. I will be writing to EE, Mpx, Watchdog and Trading Standards regarding this matter.

AKA Brightstar - Samsung Trade-In uses these inept, incompetent rip-offs!

Received a quote of £120 for a brand new iPhone 5 64gb. Sent my phone in as part of the Samsung Trade-in deal to get double the value in vouchers. Three weeks later I'd still not heard from them and tried to email. The email bounced back. Tried again. Bounced back again. Tried from another email. Another bounce back. By this point I was very concerned and contacted Samsung. After being shoved from pillar to post, they contacted Brightstar on my behalf.

While waiting for a reply, I received a revised offer of £0 from Brightstar due to (and I quote) 'LCD works OK?,LCD isn't all white or all black?'. They enclosed two photos, neither of which showed any damage, nor did they actually show an iPhone 5. They instead showed very clearly a black tablet with a working screen.

Samsung asked me to call Brightstar / MPX directly, which I did, to find that there had indeed been a mistake. In fact the offer was all of £30 and was due to a failure of the LCDs. In the same photos, which they refused to admit were not of my phone, they insisted there was a yellow or green or blue line around the edge showing that the LCDs weren't working properly. No. No it doesn't. If you can't tell whether the colour is yellow or blue, then you need to accept that there is not a line there. I can also confirm that there was no line around the screen on my phone when I sent it in, either.

I've rejected their offer and asked for the phone back. At this point I expect them to have stamped on it just to make sure I don't get a better offer. I will NEVER partake in an offer that uses Brightstar, MPX or any renamed version of their company. You can call it what you like, but a foul company is a foul company.

rip off! do not use!!!!!!!!

I was quoted £110 for my iphone 4S which was in perfect condition. I paid £7 to post it to them, and they offered me £24 and said it had water damage, which is frankly a load of bo****ks! I said no and asked them to send the phone back, within an hour I had another email stating they can increase their offer to £54!!!!! I said no, please send the phone back which they are doing. i asked them to refund the £7 postage and they said they couldnt, so I am £7 down due to these con artists!

Dreadful

Sent my Samsung Galaxy S3 which was in perfect condition to these bunch of cowboys, only to find out via My Account (not even an email) that the display screen was, according to them, damaged. It was posted on 21 Oct in double bubblewrap inside a padded jiffy bag, and l used Special Delivery. Have emailed them and told them l want further information and also to send the phone back as l can claim for damage from the Post Office.

Wish l'd read all the previous reviews, used this company a couple of years ago and it was fine, but this really takes the biscuit.

Do not use them.

COMPLETELY ILLEGAL ACTIONS - NEED TO SHUT DOWN!!!

My partner got quoted £74 for her mum's Apple iPhone 4 16GB, which seemed like a good deal. Now the phone itself was in perfect working order without a mark or scratch anywhere (it had been well looked after). It was sent via Royal Mail Special delivery in the padded envelope provided my MPX. Once they had received the phone they then emailed my partner saying they now cant pay £74, they can only pay £17 as the screen is cracked and would need replacing. My partner rang them immediately infuriated and asked for the phone back, as soon as she said that they offered her £38 (add's to their guilt), she said no chance send the phone back. We received it back and it is now damaged and scratched as they said. There is no way the damage on the phone could've happened in a padded envelope, its clearly been damaged on purpose or they've dropped it and then said it arrived like that! So now we're left with a damaged phone which needs fixing and wasted the cost of sending it to them!! They really need to shut down, they are disgusting and are a bunch of crooks, I will do everything I can to spread the word about them and get them shut down!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

A total con and poor service

Sent mobile phone xchange a fully working and immaculate phone with no scratches to either the screen or case, they quoted £260, came back with damage to screen and a counter offer of £142, total lies as i took evidence photos prior to sending the phone, customer services tried back tracking when i called them, i asked them to send the phone back to me, hopefully this will happen but i dont trust them in the slightest. Avoid at all costs. Please go with a reputable company with good reviews as the highest offer is a hook to get you sucked in!

Cowboys!!!

I feel so foolish and greedy for not doing my research before I sent my phone to this company but I stupidly went with the company that offered me the most money! Well I won't do that again! They allegedly didn't receive my phone within the allocated time and have told me it has severe scratching to the screen even though it was perfect when I sent it and it was sent in the original box. I just don't believe what they have said so have asked them to send it back to me but we'll see what happens! I would give it no stars if I was allowed!

THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN

There is no point repeating all the previous reviews - I'm just going to say this company is a disgrace and I cannot believe that an official body hasn't stepped in.
I posted my excellent condition iPhone 4s to them on 10th July and guess what, it's never been received.
Despite the clear packaging, a senders receipt and return details clearly on the package if not delivered, it's just disappeared! Like so many others sent to this company.
I have emailed and called them repeatedly asking what is being done about all the mail sent to them that is never received and I have also asked what is being done to check their warehouses. They could not care less! Would you be happy running a company where so much mail posted to you goes missing?
Clearly there is something dodgy because it can't be a coincidence!
Looks like if they had have received it, I would have only received a pittance for it anyway!
I'm really upset by this whole scam and have many people to contact about it yet!!
Please do not use this company - you might as just throw £114 in a bin! Better still, give it to charity, at least then you will feel good about yourself instead of feeling stupid at not reading these reviews first! :-(

Avoid this company and the Vodafonebuyback scheme!

I used this company through Vodafone buy back. Unfortunately I didn't read here first, thought as they had a partnership with Vodafone they would be worth using.

I was offered £79 for iPhone 4S with broken lock button, when they received it I got an offer of £53 for the phone because the button wasn't functioning! I phoned them and got told the sim tray was missing (nonsense!) as well as the broken button. The phone was fully intact including the sim tray when I sent it.

They did offer and extra £10 after the call, so 2 stars. But no point in taking it back if they've removed the sim tray (or maybe the postman did it!), it'd cost extra postage and then the phone isn't worth as much to try it somewhere else.

Best avoided, try somewhere with a good reputation. If people are posting only negative reviews it can't be good, whereas some companies have tons of positive reviews - there must be a reason!
