Review of Moxy Edinburgh Airport

Review of Moxy Edinburgh Airport – A Total Disappointment

From the outside and in the lobby, this property looks and feels like any other Moxy you might visit around the world. Unfortunately, that is where the similarities end. One critical but shocking issue: there is no air conditioning in the rooms.

Our room was 26°C (79°F) when we arrived and climbed to 28°C (82°F) by bedtime. The only solution provided was a tiny wall fan that did nothing to cool the space. The window opens just a crack, offering no relief. We essentially spent the night in a sauna. It was impossible to sleep, my wife and I developed migraines, and our kids had a miserable time trying to fall asleep in the heat.

This feels like a bait-and-switch. Nowhere in the booking process was it made clear that the rooms have no AC. For a hotel carrying the Marriott name and charging what they do, this is unacceptable. Even a budget motel—or camping—would have been a more comfortable option.

I have stayed at many Moxy properties globally, and this is by far the worst. Marriott should be embarrassed to keep its name on this hotel, and Bonvoy members should be warned. The lack of transparency and comfort is appalling.

DO NOT stay here. There are far better options nearby, and even if it means a slightly longer ride to the airport, it will be worth it. This property completely fails to meet Marriott standards.

AWFUL

We stayed for 1 night at the Moxy hotel in Fountain bridge, Edinburgh and left very disappointed.

When booking the hotel never said the carpark was under renovation! So we had to park at the local retail car park costing £30! There was no offer of discounted parking due to the inconvenience.

We had to walk in the rain with our luggage for a mile!

The bed was awful, barely slept a wink as the mattress was rock hard and the pillows lumpy. Also the room was cold.

We stayed at the sister hotel Saturday and Sunday and it was perfect.

How can Marriot go from one extreme to another! We checked out at 6.30am to get out!

Moxy hotel Southampton 👍👍👍

Stayed for one night and was very happy. Location was great next to shopping Center and short walk to town Check in was quick and reception staff friendly. Room was clean bathroom with shower only with a few toiletries We had a room on the 5th floor at the back so was nice and quiet Breakfast was very good plenty of choices for everyone including Americans who were cruising. This hotel is ideal for the cruise terminal Checkout quick and easy paid 5£ for overnight parking a bargain Would definitely use this hotel again A couple of small negatives are it is difficult to get a table for breakfast when restaurant is busy they need to fit extra tables in dining area and also you needed to use your room key to operate the lift this was a bit hit and miss Nice stay well done Moxy 😎😎

Moxy Bath Road (Owned by Marriot) - NIGHTMARE STAY

Moxy Bath Road (Owned by Marriot)
I stayed here in 2019 and after having a bad experience with the air con not working on a fairly warm night, Courtney Murray from guest relations offered us a 50% voucher to use on our next day within the next year.
Covid hit and that was not possible & I was classed as high risk too. I’ve only just been able to get out a little, so called Moxy Bath Road who refused to authorise my voucher and said even if it was in date we cannot authorise it! Which I did try to use in August 2020 I still have the emails as proof. ‘Apparently’ the owners have changed which isn’t the case as it’s still owned by Marriot! This is appalling behaviour and most certainly will not be even thinking to stay at any of the hotels owned by Marriot!

Not great customer service and expensive

Moxy York

I paid three months in advance and was advised over the phone that breakfast was included and advised by email that I had paid.

When we arrived breakfast was not included and I was asked to pay again which I did as I did not have payment records at hand. When I left I was also asked to pay a third time but refused. When I moaned to a friend as to why they did not have to pay again the reception manager was rude ("I told you why you have to pay"!)

Unfortunately the same staff run the reception/bar/kitchen area (with all these amenities in the same room. This means they get distracted with administration stuff on their computer screens when you are waiting for a drink or for assistance.

They claim to have a 24 hour bar but when we asked for cocktails they said they had stopped making them as it was too late. When I asked if they still served other drinks the reception manager said ("of course we do"!) So flippant!! Why would that be obvious.

My brother (and 4 others) also stayed at the same time. He paid £230 for a small room without breakfast and I paid £143 for a small room with breakfast (which i never received).

No tea making service in room or iron.

Silly child-like graffiti on the lift mirrors and walls. Felt very patronising.
