Nicki was excellent in answering our query - friendly, helpful, thorough and reassuring - thank you once again - very much appreciated (Call: 25/6/26 - 11.50 am to 12.05 pm)
A great first experience - thanks Benjamin!
This is our first time using a deposit scheme and battling an unfair deduction claim from a landlord.
I called today and had the best support and clarity from Benjamin. He patiently walked me through the process, was happy to answer all my questions in length, and provided very helpful guidance and advice.
Thank you for making a stressful situation, a little less so.

DO NOT USE THIS INCOMPETENT COMPANY
Avoid at all costs. Completely incompetent company. Supposed to offer impartial adjudication for deposit disputes. The evidence was not reviewed at all. Totally biased and as their decision is final, they feel that they can just do what they want. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
My deposits in the pockets of the Landlords!
A recent experience from someone close to me has made me feel that 'mydeposits' do not protect the tenants deposits in any meaningful way, they are there to serve unscrupulous Landlords who make false claims and use the deposit as another way to profiteer. Of course not all Landlords are the same but in then case of my friend, the Landlord put several unjustified claims forward to withhold 2/3rds of the deposit. Things such as a ceiling which had a small mark touched up with the matching paint but a claim was made for complete repainting, a completely unnecessary claim, a kitchen lino with a small stain left by a doormat, a claim was made for a complete replacement!
Such claims are fraudulent and should be plain to see by a neutral organisation. my deposits are no such thing sadly.
Excellent Customer Service
I spoke to 2 customer services agents while setting up a new tenancy deposit account. Both ladies were extremely helpful, which is why I went with MyDeposits rather than a competitor. Customer Service is King in my view.
This service has been nothing short of APPALLING
This service has been nothing short of appalling. Communication is slow and unhelpful. The website is very user UNfriendly and deliberately confusing.
Despite providing clear and strong evidence I was met with delays, responses were dismissive and they lack accountability. It is an absolute disgrace.
This scheme should be avoided at all costs..

I spoke with them regarding general advice about how to approach my letting agents who were taking a very long time to release my deposit. It was very useful!

a 50/50 judgement
Process was long, took me almost 3 months to receive an answer. They side with landlord when it comes to cleaning, natural deterioration of furnitures. I had my place domestically cleaned, but they My deposit still decides I should pay for another cleaning service in full. The landlord also charged £150 for a furniture which was obviously natural deterioration but My Deposit doesn't consider this. Although I won some deposit back, it felt like My Deposit tends to do 50/50 allocation even tho I have strong arguments in all claims, especially the original claim from the landlord was just unfair, exaggerated and charging more than it needed to be fixed, like all typical landlords.
Dreadful experience in which MyDeposits…
Dreadful experience in which MyDeposits is quite clearly on the side of their members (landlords). We lost a large amount of deposit money despite significant pictorial and written evidence to the contrary showing how disingenuous our private landlords were in making a claim. The landlords also tried sent emails bordering on harassment and a false invoice from a fake company which was outed. If you find out your private landlord has deposited your money with them and a dispute arises at end of tenancy then obtain legal advice, speak to shelter or ask Citizens Advice Bureau. MyDeposits are definitely not neutral in my view and at best totally dismissive of evidence supplied. Stay clear.
Absolutely terrible service.
Absolutely terrible service.
I spoke with 'David Adams' today as my estate agents asked me to contact mydeposits.co.uk who can activate the release of a deposit and make the whole process quicker.
Unfortunately, David could not grasp this and kept asking me to raise a dispute, I explained there was no dispute and I simply needed them to activate the release of the deposit.
David insisted that they do not hold the deposit, something I never insinuated or thought, I was simply asking for them to activate the release as it speeds up the process.
David proceeded to show a lack of understanding and a complete lack of empathy within his role.
A useless service and a complete waste of my time.

It’s a very difficult site to use and limiting how many words you can use on an explanation is rediculous.
My claim hasn’t been settled yet, but I’m expecting them to side with the Tenant.
I was not happy with the original award…
I was not happy with the original award because the tenant had removed three mattresses from the property. On their form they reported they had WhatsApp messages stating I had given them permission to take them.
I appealed to My Deposits informing them that these messages had not been sent by me or the estate agent on my behalf and the response was : “the scheme cannot retrospectively verify authenticity of such evidence unless clearly challenged during the dispute stage with supporting proof”
I did not know they were going to fabricate evidence. And what proof would I provide of something that had not happened?? And how would I know they were going to fabricate evidence.
Useless scheme.
Landlord deducted £215 to remove excess…
Landlord deducted £215 to remove excess compost from flower beds and mydeposits agreed with the cost.. Absolutely ridiculous, exorbitant amount of money which could have been sourced much cheaper but as it was my money and not the landlords, I guess they didn't care and neither did mydeposits, another company taking from the poor and giving to the rich. 0/10.
It costs less to have a complete house removal and a months worth of storage than to remove excess compost.. What a joke.
good service
Crooks, need shutting down
Completely biased decision awarding the landlord amounts that made no mathematical sense, the adjudicator says they refused a lot of the landlord's claims and then awarded them the majority of the money anyway with no break down of costs or how they arrived at that very round sum. When a complaint was filed they said they couldn't do anything and the matter was closed. It also transpires that they have no oversight from a governing body like the property ombudsman, so they can essentially decide what they want and not have to answer to anybody.
The landlord illegally claimed £45 per hour for their own time, incorrectly claimed for damages that were already in the check in report, mistakenly sent the next tenant's check in report showing nothing had been fixed anyway (who knows how many times the landlord has claimed without actually fixing the issues they claimed for) and didn't provide a proper breakdown or invoices for their 'work' and now we can't even speak to the adjudicators to get any answers or clarification on their decision, bearing in mind this is the tenant's money, not the the landlord's. These people are crooks and should be shut down
