We had a great team. Very responsive when we had questions. They were proactive. They reached out to us and kept us updated on our loan status.

Navy was my only option but the rate is obscene.
Everyone involved was efficient, professional, and kind. We were kept notified during the whole process, had all our questions answered, and even were called back quickly when we had a question. It was a seamless process. Thank you Navy Fed!

I’ve already filled out one Survey. It took over 80 days to close my loan. Multiple times my loan officer said that she did something but she did not and at one point she even said I’m sorry I stink. The lack of knowledge from my loan officer was terrible. She was telling me things that I needed, but I didn’t actually need them. Also, on several occasions, she said you might just want to withdraw your application and apply with a local bank.

As a 32 year Real Estate Broker I have never experienced something so horrible. Delays after delays, inaccurate cummunication, asking for the same documents multiple times by multiple people that were already provided. Reason for delays is and I quote "We are the largest credit union and you can expect delays" Voicemails left with management multiple times with no call back. Think twice before using this company.

I deposited a $6,000 check in person at a Navy Federal branch after driving about 1½ hours specifically so a live teller could review the transaction. We explained the two signatures, both IDs were checked, and the teller accepted the deposit.
We were first told the funds would likely be available in about two days, then five business days, and later the deposit was placed under an extended review of up to 30 days.
Navy Federal later acknowledged in writing that a duplicate hold had been placed on the deposit and that the duplicate hold caused my account to reflect a negative balance.
I was also repeatedly told that I could submit “supporting documentation” to help expedite the review, but despite asking several times what documents were needed, no specific documentation was identified. Navy Federal later stated that no additional documentation had been identified that would result in an immediate release.
I also asked whether the check could be canceled or returned and did not receive a clear answer until much later, when I was told the issuing financial institution would have to recall the funds through a Hold Harmless agreement.
I understand that financial institutions have fraud-prevention and risk-management responsibilities. My concern is the inconsistent communication, the admitted duplicate hold, and the amount of effort required to obtain clear answers while these funds were needed for normal financial obligations and a pending home closing.
I hope Navy Federal reviews this experience and improves the consistency, transparency, and timeliness of communication with its members.
