Good service, bad deposit return

Service was very good, staff were friendly enough especially Safi, we appreciate his assistance.

Though Having a lot of trouble recovering my deposit, they said it will be back on the 23rd, then they said 2 to 3 business days, it's been over a week and still nothing, called the bank they said we need an authorisation letter, just a lot of trouble that could've been avoided if they told us to call the bank from the start instead of making us wait for so long. This was due to the card that I used to make the payment being cancelled so I can't entirely put the blame on them, it is rather irregular.

Quick delivery of the car when we…

Quick delivery of the car when we arrived and when we dropped off the car.
The car a KIA worked well. Smal engine but no problem up to Black river and Grand Bassin

Excellent customer service and great…

Excellent customer service and great pricing.
Also, our flight was delayed and they stayed open so we could return the car later than planned.
Highly recommended.

It was the first time to visit Mauritius and choose Ola rental company. Yuvaraj supported me a lot due to not only sudden delay of flight but also when I return the rent car at the airport even he was in holiday. Thanks a lot for his sincere support and kindness. Right side driving seat is unfamiliar with us, but he supported to understand the traffic rules and how to get out of airport. Thanks a lot Yuvaraj.

When I sent the email of my flight delay, the company contacted me by whatsapp and gave me the phone number of Yuvaraj who worked on that day, so I felt comfortable and did not waste my time to find the Ola rent car. I am sure for the next time, I will choose Ola definitely.

This company is terrible

This company is terrible! We had to leave Mauritius early (& therefore turn our car in earlier than planned) because of coronavirus & have been waiting since the end of March to get a refund back! (It is now mid June & we still have not recieved it) ... we left 2 weeks earlier than planned so we are missing quite a lot of money & they are simply not responding to our emails/messages - would not recommend this company to anyone!

Very friendly honest service

Very friendly honest service!
Was handeled quickly. Brand new car. Uncomplicated return.
They found my drivers licence when the next client brought the car back after two weeks, called me in Switzerland and organised someone to bring it back to me!

We recently rented a car with OLA…

We recently rented a car with OLA Mauritius and we couldn't be happier!
They offer a great service and value for money. Collection and delivery of the car were perfect: they were right on time and everything went quickly. The car was in good conditions and we didn't have any problems with it.
We totally recommend it!

Did not get a booking confirmtion at all.

Did not get a booking confirmation at all, after 3 days of asking i got some snapshot of their smartphone screen send to me.
At arrival in Mauritius, nobody from this Company was around. Some other car-rental company employee helped my by calling them. They don't have an office on the airport at the arrival-terminal.
Then they arrived after some time lying that they were around(i have been looking with some very helpful taxidrivers in the arrival hall), then i had to sign for a 500 euro own risk policy. Fully insured they advertise on their website (so another lie). No explanation of the car at all.
All already noticeable damages had to be drawn on the rental policy and signed by both.
And the gas tank was as good as empty, really hard to find a gas station at your first arrival on Mauritius. The car itself was really fine.

After 3 weeks giving back the car i had to find the Ola people again, being a little early they were not there, and i needed to check in my stuff first and than find Ola people. They were outside helping others. Not really recognisable, i by coincidence asked them and they where the correct people. We had to drive to the car where i parked it to see if everything was oke and it luckily was.

There was no navigation at all. I had downloaded offline navigation to my my smartphone before i left to Mauritius. Take a charging cable and usb 12v adaptor with you.

Better get an better price from one of the companies with an office on the airport.

Very good car hire

Just returned from Maurius and was very happy with service and car from this company. They met us at airport promptly for both pick up and drop off. Car was in good condition no issues at all. Only thing I found cheeky was the fact that they advertise free GPS but we had to pay for ours as didn't book direct. Next time will go direct!!! Will use them next time I go😊

Rented a 7 seater with OLA Mauritius

Pritish delivered us the car at the airport.
He was on time and waiting for us. He was nice and fluent in his job.
Explain us very well about the car and leave a GPS to guide us through the roads of Mauritius.
Pritish was very helpful and discreet!
Reservation with OLA was very good. Everything was ok.
Next time surely with Ola !

Excellent Service

I booked a car for 3 days with OLA before leaving the UK. The booking process was simple, Ameer who dropped the car to our hotel was on time (early in fact) and very polite. The car was clean, exactly as ordered, which in my experience often isn't the case with the bigger chain companies. It was very easy to drive & in good condition with new tyres and half a tank of petrol, which despite two days out we only managed to use less than £5 of. The car was collected again & our security deposit promptly returned. I would definitely use OLA again in Mauritius.

Controversial

My experience with OLA Mauritius contains two stories: 2014 and 2016 with some controversy between them. So you can read both stories carefully and make your own conclusions.

in 2014:
Had a great experience. OLA people were really friendly and on time to deliver and collect the car. The car itself was a fresh Nissan Micra in great condition. I Was really pleased with my experience and could recommend OLA to anyone.

in 2016:
The rates were still competitive compared to chains and I booked Nissan Micra again. But some other things deteriorated drastically. First of all, OLA has no office at the airport, which means you have to agree how you collect the car in advance. In my case the guy who delivered the car was 40 minutes late. I tried to find him by calling their office but the lady there could barely speak English and lied to me telling that the guy was already at the airport.

When he finally arrived, it turned that instead of Nissan Micra they brought me Perodua Myvi telling it's similar. How was the car? It had seen life. A lot of it. It was dirty as a hell on inside and falling apart on the outside. Driving it was a punishment so terribly bad and dull it was. Also it was, I guess, quite a dangerous experience (google for Perodua's reviews and safety records). My overall impression was that this car would be much cheaper to buy and then throw away than to rent.

Returning the car was a hassle again, similar to collecting. I could not find the agent where agreed and had to phone the office again. The agent had no badge or any other piece of OLA branding on them and looked like if he was hiding from someone. May be they are not allowed to operate at the airport – I don't know.

Also, when returning the car, I could see him giving another Perodua to another customer. So I would strongly doubt that better cars advertised on OLA's website even exist in 2016.

Conclusion? Never ever agree for Perodua. Act at your own risk as their service may be inconsistent from year to year or from customer to customer.

Being a customer centric organization we certainly can't accept this type of service and we are monitoring the situation with a view upgrade our services.

We would appreciate if you can write to us at info@olamauritius.com regarding your reservation number so that we can conduct a proper enquiry. This will allow us to remediate to certain issues especially to lateness. We simply can't accept 40 minutes lateness for delivery and also for collecting the car. We fully understand that this is a very stressful moment since you've been travelling for hours and then the tension to be on time for check in. We'd like to say that we constantly lecture our agents on this aspects but in some remote cases it's just out of our control. At management level we conduct regular meetings and provide training on customer satisfaction but often it doesn't work as we expect things to be.

As for the car i would like to draw your attention that we can's guarantee a particular make or model just as all major car rental agencies for very practical reasons. That's the reason why we have dedicated a paragraph in our terms and conditions. We always display a particular car with a " or similar " note. We can guarantee a particular model unless there's a special request and it's a paid option like major car rental companies. Also as per Mauritian law we have a time frame of 5 years to operate a particular car as a contract vehicle licence. It's quite obvious that our cars in their 3-4-5 years would show a high mileage . Here upon your reservation our system will assign cars depending on the time a reservation was made. Early bookings will mean the most recent cars which will be more expensive. For late reservation we believe it's fair that older cars will be automatically assigned. The same will apply to model and brand of the car. Infact we offer popular brands in Mauritius and which has been cleared and passed security test to be on the Mauritian roads. Perodua Myvi is a car with a 3 star rating as per the ASEAN NCAP and therefore considered as a safe car here. I would strongly recommend fellow customers here to post their reviews to give a honest feedback as we also have popular brands like Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Mini Cooper and others. We assure our clientele that we offer a wide range of car models but it's simply an automated assignment of cars based on several factors as explained above.

We'd here pray for your comprehension and encourage you to write to us in order that we have all relevant information so that we can remediate to the lateness issues. Your help would be much appreciated. Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Avoid

There's no desk for Ola at the airport and they failed to advise us of this before hand. Meaning we went searching around the airport with no result. Turns out they meet you at the exit, only 15 minutes or so after the time you said you would arrive with no notice they would be late or apology. Forget these guys and go for anyone else.

Bad experience

Website said full tank petrol and free GPS - both not there when car is collected. Only minimal fuel left and said no GPS required in Mauritius, well don't advertise it if so! Car not in good condition, on 2nd day, the car won't start and the 'service' sign came up on the dashboard. Waited 3 hours for someone to come to our hotel who teaches us how to start an auto car, need to turn the ignition key and step on accelerator simultaneously. More to come, at departure, no one showed up to collect the car. We have to call and they said someone is coming. After 1.5hr waiting,was told no one is actually coming and we're asked to leave the car key in the car. Too much car drama for a holiday. Not recommended at all.

Ola mauritius car hire

The car was clean and I had no hassles.
GPS needs to be updated,provided me with a baby car seat which was great.
Drop off was convenient I was met at the airport right outside the entrance which meant a short walk with the luggage.Car was delivered to my resort.
Rate per day was cheaper than what resort quoted me for the same vehicle.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Our car arrived on time, clean & tidy (a Honda Jazz as booked), the rep was helpful with tips on where to visit. A free sat nav included. The car was collected with no problems other than the fact my husband left his new glasses in the car when it was returned. We returned to UK very very early the next day so contacted Salim by email and he has had them shipped back to us - what great customer service!!
