Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Terrible company and customer service and could be using second hand or 4th hand telescopes

Kid has been into space for a while with Celestron and a Bresser Messier Dobson. Birthday and christmas are around same time so asked for a new manual one and barlow etc to go with for one and an electric one for other.

got the dobsonian skywatcher 200p from this company at £450 after vat etc.

It arrived after around a week so generously gave them a star and looks the part so added one for that, im being really generous here.

The finder lens and alligning etc is terrible worse than on older scopes we used not even our ones, cheaper ones from the group who got us into this ages ago.

However all was not bad as i did it through amazon who accepted my refund request as this was dodgy and didnt match what was described and telescopes costing less than 200 quid and years old should be much better than this even when you do manage to get it on whatever planet your looking at.

The guy wanted to be really helpful on the call and said i heard you complained to amazon also, as well as that he heard I was looking for a new scope.

Wanted to help make things easy for me getting this to them, weighs heavier than most kids aged around 7 so that was a plus and mentioned swapping for other scope.

However the electric one was out of stock I mentioned.

He did try one last attempt by offering a very similar product to the seestar s50 with something more similar. Had never heard for it and asked for a little time to google and show kid etc but he said they needed an answer on the call right now. Red flag.

So said no as sounded dodgy, like why didnt they want me to spend 10 mins looking at it on google instead of taking his word on the device.

When I said no he said to me well if that is the case you are on your own.

Went full 90s dodgy car salesman mode and said if I dont take the offer right now they are having nothing to do with it.

I explained I tried royal mail but dont know as he said ill have to find a way to get it to them, asked for suggestions but didnt help.

just said you will have to find someone pay them for the weight, then delivery which is obvious.

then also said 10% to our company too. I asked why, they said they have to restock it and resell it so not only have i paid for it, i would be paying about £40 because they are selling it again? never heard of anything like this in my life.

The best of it is nothing is listed as used etc all brand new and it could be 2nd to how many times used by different people anything you order from them.

I ended up ordering a manual one and electric one ans they have the £602.99 one in stock so they would have made more profit if they had just given me 10 mins to google what i want.

Although im glad I didnt as checked with skywatcher and a lot have said bad things about the customer service especially from this company or scopes coming with faulty parts and them saying they never received to send new ones out or other things, these are allegations so may not be true but with my experience then checking with skywatcher and other brands with different companies and other companies customer service is nothing like theres. I should have looked into this and was my bad.

After so many reviews on amazon, ebay. telescope sites with complete different reviews to the almost exact same sounding ones on your site then I suggest you use someone else at the company to call someone for customer service issues as this guy has issues of some sort.

Luckily I did buy through Amazon, its third party but they might be able to help with return but with them chargin 10% to restock it etc because i didnt agree to the scope offfered to me ill probabaly take 100-150 of the price and sell on some platform.

I'll even leave it set up and take it out so they can try it, if fairly new let them see the older ones too, as I am very honest and want to treat someone I do business with well,
