Great Car Rental

The car was picked up with no problem. New car, exactly what was promised, all good. The price is truly fantastic, there's no comparison to the other big car hire companies, we are talking half the price. We had the car for a month and returned it, no issues. Existing damage on car was acknowledged as existing damage so all great there. Highly recommend Oryx.

ORYX Rent a Car provided a professional service

ORYX Rent a Car provided a professional, friendly, and informative service right from the start. The company representative Branimir was always helpful and replied to any questions in a timely manner. The rental car was new, clean, and comfortable, and the price was competitive and favorable. Overall, I would highly recommend this company's service and would certainly work with them again.

Great service and communication with…

Great service and communication with staff, especially with Branimir Simek. One suggestion, availability to leave car on the airport would be necessary as leaving car in the city and using taxi is additional cost.

Avoid This Company – Poor Service and Lack of Accountability

This company only cares about taking your money. Customer service is extremely poor, and the staff seem poorly trained on their own policies. My experience from start to finish was disappointing.
We booked a VW T-Roc (or similar) because we wanted a small/medium-sized SUV, especially given the narrow, twisty roads and parking challenges in Dubrovnik. However, we were given a much larger Skoda Octavia. When I pointed out to the staff member that this wasn’t the car we booked or a comparable one, he simply said, “That’s the only one we have.” We were left with the choice of taking it or going without a car. Not wanting to complicate the start of our holiday, we reluctantly accepted it.
Things went downhill from there. During our stay, the car was parked at our hotel when another guest accidentally scraped the bumper while maneuvering out of a spot. The driver was honest enough to report it to the hotel reception, and I immediately called the number provided by Oryx for accidents. After multiple attempts, I got no answer. I then contacted the airport office where we picked up the car. The person I spoke to assured me that all we needed to do was fill out the official accident form with the other driver, return the paperwork when dropping off the car, and everything would be fine.

When returning the car, they charged us the full deposit for the damage, plus a €72 processing fee, but assured us the deposit would be refunded since it was a clear no-fault accident. Weeks passed with no communication. I had to reach out myself, sending photos and all the necessary paperwork to speed things up. It took several emails and several weeks just to get a response.

The response? “we do not have a police report on record that you were not responsible for the accident but for the other person from whom you would claim the damages.” This was despite having a signed European Accident Statement from the other driver admitting fault, as well as being told by Oryx staff that the form was sufficient.

I chose Oryx thinking I’d support a smaller, local company rather than one of the big-name rental agencies. Unfortunately, I deeply regret that decision. This company failed at every level—poor communication, untrained staff, and shifting blame. I won’t be making the same mistake again and recommend others avoid them entirely.

Watch out for late pick up costs

Never before had an issue with Oryx and usually would review really well. This time having paid (66.50 Euro) for a late pick up, flight was late and then had to pay another 230 Euro. Felt stung and thought the guy was joking when he first said it! One to watch for.

Quite recommendable.

As it happens as often as not they didn't have an Economy car available and I did want this size of car, but they offered me a couple of upgrades and I accepted a Golf. They were friendly and helpful in explaining how the car ran and everything was ok. Very satisfied. I recommend them.

Friendly staff and no issues

Friendly staff, quick pick up and drop off.
Had a car for 8 days in Croatia.
Picked up in Dubrovnik, Dropped off in Zagreb.

Booked a Golf or similar, got Taigo - which is mini SUV on a Polo platform so quite smaller than the golf. But the car in general was ok.

Would recommend ORYX and will use them again in future.

Very good company

Very good company. Take care to have a "credit" card and there will be no problem. The people at reception are friendly and the vehicles are recent and clean.

Helpful service

Picked up car at Split airport - unfortunately car booked had not been returned so was offered an alternative (slight downgrade but fine for the holiday - extra insurance for island trips offered as a goodwill gesture).
Car was in very good clean condition and worked well for us (VW T Roc for 4 adults,).
Halfway through our holiday my wife was driven into. Oryx could not have been more helpful in sorting out with the 3rd party insurance company and reassured my wife. When questioned whether we needed a police report, I received a quick email confirmation. On returning the car, a very quick inspection and confirmation of what had happened was polite and showed understanding and sympathy.
No additional charges unlike other companies I'd been told about.

Very helpful and efficient service

Very helpful and efficient service. No nonsense trying to sell us unwanted insurance. Car was excellent. We had a slight "incident" and the car was slightly scratched near the boot. We had our own excess insurance and Oryx were very helpful in providing us with all the necessary documentation and very understanding about what had happened. Obviously we had to pay them for the damage and then we are claiming back from our excess insurance, which seems to be straightforward.

The staff were friendly to deal with…

The staff were friendly to deal with but the car was way smaller than I expected. I come from Australia so was expecting the SUV to be large enough to fit our luggage (4 suitcases). We had to squish into this tiny SUV and on top of that it smelled like cigarette smoke

The Oryx Experience

The staff at Oryx, Split were simply fantastic! Efficient, friendly and professional.
Pickup and drop off were smooth.
The vehicle was a comfortable recent model at a very reasonable price with great but space; ideal for myself and 3 women travelling across borders in the Baltics for over a week.
Was a really pleasant experience.
My sincere thanks to Ivan and the team. Look forward to the next trip to Croatia!

Excellent service

Excellent service . Smooth collection and return . Good value with free second driver. Interesting that the crossing the border fee was not taken until I returned. And as I did not have an event while over the border, I could have said I didn’t go . Why not take it in advance ??
