Is This Legal?

I have spent a fortune on OS maps for the excellent Viewranger app. On "seamless" transition to Outdooractive I find that my OS maps have disappeared. Surely I should keep the maps I have already paid for or is this a scam???

The opposite of 'progress' - extremely disappointing.

When you take a great product like ViewRanger and replace it with a non-intuitive, difficult to use app, and worse of all - you encourage poor ViewRanger loyal users to 'migrate' to Outdooractive and then they CANNOT migrate their personal tracks data across without one-by-one clicking and waiting for the painfully slow upload... To carry across maybe 1000 or more tracks in this way would take a user many, many frustrating hours, even if the app didn't hang and get stuck all the time (which it does). Complete rubbish and very disappointing. There needs to be a single migration tool for all Viewranger users' past tracks in one click, if not it's not fit for purpose.

Complete rubbish

This app is quite dysfunctional and does not work at all. I was unable to access my maps when out today, what use is that? I paid for the mapping in ViewRanger and it seems I’m going to lose them if recent experience is anything to go by. A total rip off.

This app is total rubbish

This app is total rubbish. It has almost none of the functionality of viewranger which is a great app. I purchased OSI maps of Ireland which I will effectively not be able to use anymore. This is not acceptable. If they continue to pull the plug on viewranger at the end of this month, I recommend a boycott of anything to do with company.

Viewranger RIP!

Would have given it zero if I could. Have deleted the app and switching to OS or another. Dangerous use of battery on a mountain and NOWHERE near as good to use as Viewranger.

Terrible app after view ranger

Terrible app after view ranger. Eats the battery so no use for any serious prolonged hiking of more than 2 hours! Hate it. Try All trails instead. Much better but not os maps. Would stay with view ranger if I had the choice.

Outdooractive: major steps backwards compared to Viewranger

I fully agree wit the review below. Exactly same experience and feeling

I am a ViewRanger user that is being forced off the app in preference to using Outdooractive. This offered movement to Outdooractive is a retrograde step to an app that just isn't up to the same standard as View Ranger. If you don't know any different, then perhaps you will find Outdooractive to be OK - it does the job and you can use it for navigating in the mountains, but take my word for it - it is very inferior to View Ranger and in my opinion the company should have ditched Outdoor active and used the View Ranger app (unchanged) as it's main product. Instead it is intent on snuffing out a brilliant app in favour of its own very inferior product. I personally am looking for a product to replace ViewRanger (since Outdoor active are shutting it down this February 2022) and it's not going to be Outdooractive.

Not a seamless transition from Viewranger to Outdoor active.

Hi, over the years I have spent a considerable amount of money on maps, map tiles etc. Whilst being an avid user of Viewranger. I notice they are shutting Viewranger down in Feb. This forced me to switch over to this App. Question is where are my OS maps which I paid for. I don't seem to be able to access them unless I pay more money. I was under the apprehension that this would be a seemless transition, which is certainly not the case. At the very least they should be honouring the contracts the users had with viewranger. I find this wholly unacceptable. Why should I have to pay again for access to my OS maps???
I'm sure this would not be acceptable if tested in court. I estimate I have spent more than £150 on OS maps.

Useless

Echo everything written before. Have used Viewranger for years with no issues and happily paid for content. Promised I would be able to take my existing maps to the new platform but no joy whatsoever. Where are the responses from Outdooractive regarding these issues? The lack of it speaks volumes.

Maps not accurate with incorrect information

I have just loaded and run the Outdooractive app and as a start I checked on my exact location at home. It shows my house as being in a car park on a road that does not exist. Not good.

I feel that I could not trust this app to help me if this is the level of accuracy the map gives.

Have now removed the app. Glad I did not pay for it.

Outdoor Active will not connect to ViewRanger maps…

Having spent quite a lot of money on buying maps in View Ranger it seems impossible to view the old maps in Outdoor Active. I have received three "helpful" emails from "support" but the advice was no use at all. Simply cant get into the old maps on my phone via Outdoor Active. Outdoor Active may promise to cover the world, but for View Ranger users its absolute rubbish, Should get zero stars

Terrible

I used Viewranger for many years and loved it - simple to use, rendered 1:25000 OS maps and allowed Points of Interest in different colours. The OA app which VR replaces is terrible. I think I'll probably migrate to the OS Maps app.
