Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 128 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Customers frequently complain about extremely slow response times, endless automated chat bots, and completely unhelpful customer support representatives who fail to resolve technical issues. Many users also report terribly unreliable internet service, constantly missed technician appointments, and unexpected billing charges that deeply add to their overall dissatisfaction. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with the affordable pricing models and efficient installation processes offered by the provider. Some reviewers were happy with the stable connection speeds and the helpful support team who assisted them during their initial setup phase.

Dont waste your time

Dont waste your time. I wish I read this review page before going with Oxio. My 2 yr plan with Shaw was coming to end, contacted Oxio and they told me to disconnect my internet for the 6th. It's been 3 weeks, my equipment hasn't arrived. When I raised the concern, they didn't do anything about it. The vibe they gave was - too bad so sad, we can't do anything about it. absolutely ridiculous.

this company stresses me out.

We've been with oxio for a year, to be honest, I have nothing against their internet, their internet has been reliable to say the least. But their customer service when something is up is on another level of BAD.

during the setup, they took a long time to schedule an appointment with a tech. We didn't have internet for 2 weeks after availing their service.

this second time is when we moved places. I scheduled our appointment on the 21st of aug. Day of the scheduled tech visit, the tech didnt arrive, I reached out to customer service (who had messenger, instagram, and text ONLY, no calls) said that its a busy month this month thats why that happened. They also have the audacity to tell me to reach out to only one platform, because it mixes it up on their end. Yes, sure I'll reach out to one, IF YOU REPLY IMMEDIATELY on one. It was an urgent request, thats why I needed help quick.

Anyway, I said okay, I don't have control of that anymore, so what is the next step, what is your solution, there must be some urgency here, because this has been a fault by their system, but no, there was no resolution whatsoever.

and today is Aug 25, 2025, and I've havent heard of anything since. I cancelled my service with them and they didn't even try to reach out like any other companies out there.

Here's what i'll do if I was oxio.
1. I would remove all other comms (messenger, instagram, etc) and just focus on one. That's why you're overwhelmed, because its just the same person messaging you on different platforms come across as multiple messages. Whoever suggested and implemented that not thinking straight.

2. Take care of your customers better. You're a subscription service, people pay you monthly and that is a privilage that you have to acknowledge, thats sure money going straight to the business every month. Losing customer is like losing % of your revenue that you wouldn't take back.

Lesson learned, cheap doesn't always mean "a good deal". Yes, monthly is cheap, but the downside is this. Think before going ahead with this company. It might just stress you out.

Inconsistent

I got oxio about a month ago and it worked great at first. I got the plan that's supposed to support up to 8 devices at a time. Lately I can't use more than one. It's continually kicking my phone off if I'm using my Roku or my computer. It's become very inconsistent and unreliable. The price is good, but not if the service isn't good. Disappointing, because I was really happy at first.

Signed up with OXIO about a week ago.I selected the internet 100 level and it was an easy install. I have checked the speed several times during the week and it has consistently been arount 106 download and 50 upload as promised. The price is less than the promotional pricing from the big players and much less than the price two years down the road.

Seemed good

Seemed good, until we tried to install the equipment and kept getting error messages. Cheaper than other internet providers? Yes. Good customer service? Absolutely not. We are tech people and can't get support people to help us resolve install issues. If we get past this then maybe things will be fine, until there is another issue.

Happy OXIO customer since Nov 2023

I have had OXIO since Nov 2023 and I wouldn't turn back (to Rogers or Bell). There are no gimmicks, service is timely albeit online (text) only but this hasn't been a problem for me. The few issues I have had ie. loss of connection, were resolved via text and quickly. It is reliable and cost effective. I was sooooo tired of price increases, hours long waits for customer service and never feeling I was getting the best deal possible from either of the above named providers. Only when I complained or threatened to leave Bell or Rogers was I given a better price. Oxio bills are easy to read and the rate hasn't changed in the over 1.5 years that I have been with them. No turning back for me.

Save yourself the headache and go with a different provider.

I signed up to Oxio because of their low price and no obligation contract. Once I signed up I selected an appointment in two days for one of their technicians to come out to make sure they could install the modem. I heard nothing back for over a week and had to contact their customer service to book a new date.

Their technician came to the house over a week later for all of 2 minutes, looked at the coaxial cable and left. Not ideal but hey they might be busy, whatever.

I then had to wait another week for Oxio to ship out the modem. Yet again, not ideal, they probably could have shipped the modem while I was waiting for the technician.

When the modem arrived, we set everything up as they showed in the instructions to nothing working. I spent over a hour on the phone with Eero (router company) after which point they said to contact Oxio. After contacting Oxio they said their technician hadn't set us up with the line provider and we would need to go into a queue to wait for this.

Their customer service has been very disappointing with agents avoiding questions and pretty much saying you'll get Wi-Fi when you get Wi-Fi with the occasional emoji.

It has now been three weeks and we still do not have wifi. The icing on top is they have billed us for the first month.

I would highly recommend going with a different company. We have requested they cancel our service to which they are not responding.

Just stay far far away. Not worth the hassle

Not off to a good start.

Please note I am a visually impaired person so all the details may not sound bad but for a visually impaired person it is like jumping through hoops and when you ask for help they say fine, let’s just light those hoops on fire for you. All while apologizing for spilling gasoline all over you, but reassuring you they are here to help with whatever and however you needand want the best experience for you. They just can’t actually talk with you to resolve problems…..

History

Recommended by a friend…. Says it easy to sign up. Went to the site, Price sounded great, applied on line…..

That’s where it ended.

They shipped hardware by Purolator. But Purolator didn’t deliver anything. They left a notice, rather than delivering, so I had to go and pick up the package. Mind you no notice of size or weight??? So no idea what I was getting of how getting it home on public transit.

So the events of today…..

Got up early, and made my way to the Purolator pickup centre. Left early, as I had the install technician schedule between 8 am and 6 pm.
(Still can’t figure out how bad you scheduling is that this is the time frame you need. Guess planning, organizing and scheduling are a thing of the past…..)

Once I got the equipment home, opened the box and the back of the modem I hanging off, obviously broke

Try contacting OXIO, and appeared all they have is a useless chatbot.

After a while found they do sms texting. Not the greatest for visually impaired. When finally got a response, asked if someone could call me to assist?

Nope.

Chat, text of Facebook messaging.

So truly hope their system is flawless because if you have a problem. That’s the ONLY way to deal with them. Text or chat

So after I sent pictures and indicated my issue, I was asked if I could send pictures. I indicated I already did, should I resend?

After waiting, got the response they found them???

They indicate that they will ship out new equipment,

But it only took a week to get the broken equipment, plus the extra day to pick up the equipment….. annd already have a disconnect date for previous internet provider……

Oh and this is all on the same day the technician is to arrive to do the connection….. and just receive the third notification today that I have an appointment with their technician……

And it just gets better

After jumping through more hoops, they want me to return the broken device and will send written instructions on how to do it…. But the equipment has to be returned in good working condition. Seriously…. This all started because the sent broken defective equipment.

Again asked if someone can call me……

And still no one can give me a call.

Asking to talk to a manage or supervisor, was told they can, no one is available, but they can only communicate through texting chat or Facebook,

Btw the conversation and exchange only took an hour and 45 minutes. An no further ahead than I was when I called, as they said they would be sending me return shipping instructions and that the new equipment will be here shortly. And because of the mixup they won’t charge me for the return shipping of the broken/defective equipment……

Guess I have to see it I can stop the disconnection from previous provider and start looking again

My advice stay away…. Thinking Koodo. At lest they have people you can talk to…..

I believe the service has been…

I believe the service has been misleading, false reviews, the worst exprience. Almost every day, it's offline for half a day. Every time I really need the internet, it goes offline. Almost always I must worry about it going offline. Customer service, although they say they are Canadian-based, I guess they are almost all from India. I'm worried about my data, will freeze the credit card I believe they potentially could steal data

Reliable

Just as good as the bigger companies. I have been with them for over a year now (almost 2) and have not had ANY service issues. Fast tech support, no shady backroom chats. If you're looking for a new ISP with fixed rates, no contract, great referral program, fast service, and no hassle Oxio is a great option.

I see a lot of 1 stars here but people have to keep in mind that a smaller company cannot meet a high demand for customer service in some cases. Yes, the tech support is slower than parent companies but you save on your bill and if you can try to work past their tech support hours and limits I'm sure you'll enjoy oxio too

Oxio service took a nosedive after a year

Like many bad relationships, things with Oxio started off great.

We switched from Teksavvy and got a lower monthly cost, better speed, and more reliable internet.

Unfortunately, that didn't last long.

About a year into our service, we started getting unexplained connection issues. It wasn't as simple as just resetting the router and modem and getting on with the rest of your day. The internet would go out for half an hour or an hour at a time with no easy fix.

We used to chalk it up to construction in our neighbourhood, thinking these projects were affecting our internet.

We hit a breaking point when the internet cut out from 8am to about noon. A factory reset on the router and completely deleting and re-creating the network was the only thing that fixed it. Until 2pm or so, when it went out again for the rest of the day.

Oxio support was useless. They asked me to send pictures of the router and modem, then asked me to reset both of them (even though I told them I'd done this multiple times already). Their only solution was to send a tech the next day. I work from home, and I need internet access to do my job.

I'm pretty sure the cause was faulty equipment, especially after seeing other reviews here. The support agent didn't care what I had to say. I switched to Bell that day.

Absolutely useless company

Absolutely useless company. It's shameful the way they do business. I've been waiting two weeks for wifi and it's still not working. Techs have been here twice, saying it's an issue on the back end. Oxio has failed to rectify the situation completely. Text-only AI responses for customer service. They don't care at all about their customers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Bad customer service, given faulty router

I was optimistic about oxio but after getting the internet setup it worked for 2 days then cut out. Had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment with a tech, tech came in and said its a faulty router and I had to get oxio to send a new one. Texted oxio and waited 3 hours for a response. Still havent heard back from them and just cancelled my service. 3 weeks no internet and customer service is no where to be found.

Surprised to see negative reviews

I switched to Oxio from Cogeco 3 months ago and it is light years better. I am paying 50% the price (!!) and the internet speed is actually faster. The set up, mobile app, and everything has been super smooth.

I haven't had to use customer support yet but the internet did go out one time for about an hour, I reset the modem and was good to go again. Other than that I haven't run into any issues.

If you prefer a more modern company than the other big companies in Canada, Oxio has been great so far.
