Great gym unless you voice your opinion

I went to this box (they call CrossFit gym a box) for 2 years. Loved the coaches, the programming and the people who go here. There were several instances where I was yelled at by the owner(which I let go because I loved the gym) (and no, it's not for safety reason). I decided to leave this year because the gym is too far from my work and home, in addition to a recent rate hike (formerly almost $190/month plus $50/year for "equipment fee". The new rate is $200/month with $50 equipment fee. It's funny that they charge an equipment fee but also ask members to volunteer to clean the barbell once a year); the class size also got really big and they still only have one coach for the most popular class of the day (imagine paying for private school tuition but getting a public school education). When I submitted my request to cancel my membership (they make you commit to a year contract or pay even higher price) and gave some reasons why I decided to leave, this place terminated my membership immediately and blocked me from all of their social media outlets. I was hurt. I was the gym's self-proclaimed CrossFit baby and always cheered everyone on. I was baffled of how swift the action was and how ruthless the treatment I received was, all in the name of "it's not healthy for members and coaches" to have someone who openly doesn't want to be at the gym there. Prior to this incident, I intended to try other boxes and come back if I can't find anything comparable and closer to me. Since they decided to burn bridges, I feel I need to share the truth about what happened so others can be aware. It's a sad exit, but I won't miss the toxicity there. It's the people that makes this place special, above all else. Do better, Pace Health & Fitness.
