Avoid Parcelpal & Hermes without extra insurance!

Parcelpal took the money and Hermes was the courier. Except Hermes lost my parcel (worth £60). Literally months later, after numerous messages to both Hermes & Parcelpal, it took the threat of court action to get a grudging refund of the delivery charge and £15 compensation! The inconvenience, time chasing them and their indifference to my loss was staggering.
Don’t use Parcelpal & Hermes without overinsuring your parcel. Royal Mail for me next time!

I tried to send a parcel to Switzerland…

I tried to send a parcel to Switzerland from the UK. Parcelpal doesn't actually provide any transport itself but subcontracted to Parcel Force.
Unfortunately on the way there, the parcel got exchanged with another one (seating cubes for a bank). When the parcel arrived to the Swiss post office, we noticed it was another Parcel (it was 4 times the size of mine in addition of having expensive VAT fees attached to it). After having contacted ParcelPal, they could not do anything so we waited for the wrong parcel to be shipped back to our house in the UK.
Once we have proven that the parcel content was different from the initial package, we have asked to make a claim to recover the initial package value. The claim was denied on the basis that it took too long to put the claim in, but to put to claim you need confirmation that it is the wrong parcel, as such they have way to close the door to most claims...

I will not reuse the service, next time I will pay the double and send with a trusted source to avoid 5 months of problems and a missing birthday gift.
