Zero after sales - Worthless 10 year warranty

We bought a property with a conservatory still under warranty. We contacted Peacock’s as some small panes had condensation. They said they could send a fitter out but first we need to pay £150 for a name transfer of which we paid within hours. After 6 weeks of poor communication and excuses a man we believe to be the manager came out as he lived round the corner, he measured up, we had noted another window of which he said was a 5 year warranty even though the new guarantee signed by himself sates 10 years! He said our replacement panes would be a couple of weeks! That was Nov 23 and we are now Aug 24, with so many emails and a recorded letter (advised by citizens advice) they haven’t replied or made any contact with us at all. Wish we had read a few more reviews!!!

I paid just under £5,000 to have three…

I paid just under £5,000 to have three windows and two doors installed by Peacock Windows in our holiday home by the sea.

Throughout the sales process the fitter (James) was very responsive by phone and text. While the installation dates were delayed and somewhat inconvenient for the project timelines, it all worked out well and they finished at the close of May.

I visited the house in early June and all the windows and doors were great except for the basement door. I really struggled to lock it as it didn't fit well in the frame and the locks didn't match up. I managed to get it locked after quite a wrestle and put the issue down to stiffness of the new door.

However when I returned later that month, the situation was worse and I could only lock the bottom part of the door and not the top. As a result I had to leave my holiday home partially unlocked when we left.

I called James who didn't pick up. I emailed on the address for the company that had been so prompt requesting payment, to no response. I called the head office and was initially told someone would be there that day, but then they called back to say that the property was too far for a quick response. Instead someone would come to site in the next two weeks. A week went by and I called head office for an update. Now all their fitters either had COVID or were self isolating, so no date could be given. I waited. I called head office again in early August and reception took a message for someone to call me back. Nobody did. I emailed on 17th August, again no response. I called head office again on 4th September and reception took a message for someone to call me back. Nobody did. Today (14th Sept) I called again and .....and reception took a message for someone to call me back.

I'm sure that if everything goes to plan Peacock Windows are probably great, but if something goes wrong, they literally don't want to know.

My house has been unsecured now for nearly 2 and a half months as a result of the quality of their work and customer service.

What company would thank that state of affairs was OK?
