One star is generous

One star is generous, as I cannot select a lower rating. I would not recommend this estate agency for selling a property. As a first-time seller, my experience was very disappointing. The value of my property was significantly overestimated and the property did not sell.

Avoid at all costs!

There are no words to describe the sheer level of incompetence displayed by Peter Alan (the Cardiff branches at least). If I could give zero stars I would.

Tried many times to view some properties for sale but appointments were constantly cancelled and rearranged, usually last minute (several times when we were literally on the way to the property). They seem to grossly over-inflate their listing prices just for the properties to sit for months not selling before eventually dropping them (from what I've read something to do with them getting commission based on 'listed' price rather than sale price).

When we did finally manage to actually get a viewing the agent absolutely oozed sleazy salesman. Felt like the kind of person who would sell their own mother for a few quid. Asked about our AIP and claimed 'We own them so we can definitely get you a better deal' (completely false).

They will also call you repeatedly even when you ask them not to, to the point where it is borderline harassment.

Nothing brings me greater disappointment than finding a property I like the look of and then discovering it's being sold through Peter Alan.

Please do yourself a favour and avoid them at all costs.

Never answer the phone. Been ringing for 3 days

I want to view a house they're advertising at the Morriston branch. Been calling them for 3 days, 4/5 calls each time when I can, as I'm at work and they don't answer. I've given up. I'll pass on the property, so if you're selling with them, take note.
This isn't the first time either, I've had the same experience with the Porthcawl and Bridgend. It's so I'd never put a house up for sale with them. Completely useless.

Expensive Pests, Avoid!!!

I had a valuation from Peter Alan around the middle of 2025. Firstly, they wildly over-estimated the value of my property in order to get my custom, and secondly they were asking for fees in excess of four grand for their services. I was horrified by their fee, which was not even nearly competitive with other estate agencies. Plus they absolutely would NOT take no for an answer when I chose someone else to sell my house. Peter Alan phoned me at least eight times after I notified them I did not want their services and I expressly requested that they remove my name from their systems every time they called. But no, they kept calling and pestering me for at least five months, sometimes with up to three calls a week. I've now been living in my new house for two months and I've just taken yet ANOTHER call!!!! At this point, I'm seriously considering calling the police and reporting them for harassment. It's just ridiculous that they won't leave me alone. I find their sales tactics to be unnecessarily aggressive, they clearly don't listen and they charge double what others charge for the privilege. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! This estate agency is an absolute nightmare.

World class incompetence

It is surprising how they managed to get so much wrong in such a short time period last minuite cancellation of a valuation and then making two alternative appointments with out thinking to ask if I was available on the time and dates in question , terrible communication . I will have no further dealings

Terrible and intense customer service

The biggest mistake I ever made was filling in a contact form on their website for a house valuation. Straight away I was hounded with calls. I answered in the evening asking them politely to ring me back the next day in the afternoon after 2pm and the calls started again from 9am the next day (by the same person!!). I told them to stop ringing me and that I'm no longer interested because my first impression of them is awful. I then start receiving phone calls again the following Monday, I've now had to block their number because they don't leave you alone!!

Merciless and Bothersome Pests

Know that if you contact this estate agent, they will never leave you alone ever again forevermore even if you don't choose them. Also, they will over-value your property to get your custom then reduce it to what it's actually worth in the end, plus their fee is over four grand. They're the dearest out there. I chose a different estate agent but Peter Alan agents pestered me twice a week, every week after me asking for a quote only, July 2025. It's now five months on, we are living in our new house and they are still ringing my mobile and bothering me with their aggressive sales tactics. They just keep on, and on, and on - even though I've asked them to stop at least eight times. I'm now wondering if they are ever going to leave me alone. If it carries on much longer, I am going to contact the police and use the word harassment. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour.

Peter Alan:All shades of terrible service

Peter Alan was a terrible experience. The agent outrightly told a lie about cash back and thereafter, could not be reached on phone neither would he reply mails. Am not surprised at their rating on Trust pilot. They are such a terrible agency to have transactions with.

I wanted to share some feedback…

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent experience with booking an appointment to see your mortgage advisor.

As a first-time buyer, I was really looking forward to getting professional guidance. I called your office and booked a specific date and time, making sure to swap my work shift so I could attend which is not easy for me, as I work over 200 hours a month.

A few days before my appointment, I received a call from your team offering an earlier slot. Unfortunately, I couldn’t answer at that time because I was at work, but I had no reason to change my original booking. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I was told it had been cancelled because I hadn’t responded to the earlier call, and it was assumed that I was no longer interested. I found this very disappointing, especially after making the effort to adjust my work schedule.

Although I was offered another appointment the next day, I couldn’t attend due to work commitments. Thankfully, I eventually met with a mortgage advisor who was very helpful, accommodating, and reassuring — and I’m now happily in the process of completing my purchase.

I wanted to share this experience because, while it was frustrating at first, I hope it can help improve communication and avoid similar misunderstandings for future clients.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review for Peter Alan

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review for Peter Alan – Maesteg Branch

Although we weren’t the vendors, our experience purchasing a property through Peter Alan Maesteg was excellent from start to finish. The team were efficient throughout the process, accommodating multiple viewings so we could take renovation measurements and keeping clear, consistent communication between ourselves, the vendor, and both sets of solicitors.

On key collection day, everything ran smoothly, and the team were absolutely lovely to deal with. Even after completion, they continued to support both us and the vendor with follow-up tasks such as meter readings and final handovers.

We have another property to sell soon and will definitely be using the Peter Alan Maesteg team again. A big thank you to everyone involved – your professionalism and friendliness made the whole experience stress-free!

Peter Alan Canton Cardiff 5* Branch

Peter Alan in terms of professionalism and quality depends upon which branch you are dealing with!

For the last several months as buyers, we have been dealing with Peter Alan in Canton in Cardiff … we set the bar very high in terms of professionalism from communication to customer satisfaction and I have to say that weve been particularly impressed by Sophie the sales manager angharad the sales negotiator Luke Dawes Mortgage Broker and Joseph Boxhall who deals with Lettings.
Our proposed purchases have always not been successful although some have so this review is guided more by the quality of service and the details being attended to in a calm impartial and structured way.
We cannot speak for Peter Alan as a company, but in terms of a five star branch Peter Alan Canton takes a lot of beating . We will continue to work with them as future sellers as well as buyers and absolutely
recommend them. Nothing is too much trouble.

Peter Alan Whitchurch Sales Team Failed…

Peter Alan Whitchurch Sales Team Failed to Tell Us for Three Weeks That Our Sale Had Collapsed

We recently instructed Peter Alan Whitchurch to handle the sale of our home. What should have been a straightforward process became an exercise in persistent frustration and poor practice.

Throughout the transaction, communication was erratic at best. Days would pass without a response to emails or calls, and when replies did arrive, they were cursory, unclear, or factually incomplete. It became apparent early on that we were doing the chasing while the sales team appeared content to let matters drift.

The turning point came when we discovered, entirely by chance, that the sale chain had collapsed. Peter Alan had known for almost three weeks yet failed to tell us. By that time, other parties were already aware and had adjusted their positions accordingly. We were left exposed and uninformed. That level of concealment is indefensible and deeply unprofessional.

Faced with silence from the sales side, we acted decisively and engaged the Lettings Team instead. Their conduct was everything the sales department’s was not: prompt, organised, transparent, and commercially astute. Within days, the property was let on a fixed 12 month tenancy with vetted tenants and all funds in place.

Only then, on the eve of the tenants’ move in date, did the sales department send a brief evening email claiming the original chain had been re established. Not a phone call. Not even a clear explanation. Just a single line, sent hours before a legally binding tenancy commenced. It was an extraordinary display of poor judgment and timing.

Even when presented with a viable solution to progress the sale as a tenanted purchase, which would have benefited all parties, the sales team failed to act. Our detailed written proposal was ignored. Follow up emails went unanswered. When we eventually managed to speak with someone by phone, we were told the buyer would not go for that, despite no attempt to confirm this with the buyer. It was a textbook example of indifference dressed up as assumption.

The pattern was clear:
• Information withheld without justification
• No continuity of communication or responsibility
• A reactive, patchwork approach instead of forward planning
• An absence of professional care for clients’ time, finances, or trust

We have since documented the entire sequence of correspondence, timelines, and missed communications. The record speaks for itself. This will form part of our formal complaint to Peter Alan Ltd and our referral to The Property Ombudsman (TPO) and Trading Standards Wales for investigation under the relevant consumer and agency regulations.

To their credit, the Lettings Team conducted themselves with competence and integrity. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Sales Team, whose mishandling of this sale has cost the company more than a commission; it has cost them credibility.

For anyone considering instructing Peter Alan Whitchurch for a property sale, proceed only if you are prepared to document every exchange and verify every claim. Our experience should serve as a warning that professionalism here cannot be assumed.

Atrocious landlord & staff in Peter Alan - Avoid!

I rented a 4 bed property with Peter Alan in Manselton as I was moving from Manchester down to Swansea with my two young children. I should of read the reviews! Absolute joke from start to finish. Brian did NOT hand me my copy of my inventory with all my comments in there to say what needed repairing when I first moved in. These repairs went on for over a year, after PAYING for a years rent UP FRONT. The landlord in question IGNORED 99% of these repairs (including leaving me & me 2 children FOR 4 WEEKS WITHOUT HOT WATER OR A BOILER & A GAS LEAK!). Said landlord kept fobbing me off saying it was Peter Alans fault & when I asked Peter Alan for advice I was ignored! The garden decking was already broken & very unsafe when I moved in & said landlord left it FOR 8 MONTHS after I had environmental health in to take a look. When I asked for a copy of my Inventory from Brian all I got back was that he "would look into it" (I asked 4 times in the space of 3 weeks) & i never recieved it! Landlord tried to take me for money & a fool after left the property of my own accord. Thankfully the Zero deposit scheme saw my reports I had made a number of times & have said I was in the right & I owe NOTHING to the landlord as it was already broken before I moved in & the landlord chose to ignore the repairs (also tried to charge me for blinds he bought himself AFTER I left the house, even though on the check out report it said the blinds were in "good working order") as he was honestly the worst landlord ive ever come into contact with! Peter alan are absolutely atrocious to deal with & would avoid like the plague as they still have landlord on books.

I would give 0 stars if I could because unless I hadnt complained to the right authorities about this, it wouldn't of been noted how bad this situation was.
