small animal misinformation

these people say "anything for pets" but what they mean is "anything for pets (that live more than 5 years and are larger than 2 feet tall)" if you walk into the hamster and rodent stuff isle you'd think you just walked into a toy store. Almost none of this stuff is safe for hamsters. the cages are too small, hamster balls are not fun for any kind of rodent, and some bedding is actually dangerous. Don't buy hamster or rodent stuff here, buy it online or at a safe store.

Wide selection

Wide selection. Store hours need to be expanded for working folks to get there especially in the mornings. Open an hour sooner imho.
The groomers are great, pricing is attractive, however, there is no spot on the credit card bill to give the groomers a tip.

I ordered treats to be delivered and…

I ordered treats to be delivered and they didn't have it i guess so they put me in to pick it up at a store that is over an hour away!! Now I can't reorder because i have to wait 3-5 days for a refund!! This place is a joke!! Chewy it is!!!

Auto ship

I ordered dog food on 8/30/25 to start up an auto ship. I have used chewy.com in the past but thought I would take advantage of an auto ship special with petsmart. The website said it would be delivered on 9/3/25. It's now 9/9/25 and I still don't have the food. I cancelled the auto ship but they won't allow me to cancel the current order because it's still in route. At this point my dogs will starve so I had to run to a different pet store to buy the food because I will never purchase anything from PetSmart again. Their customer service is terrible, no one has responded to any of my messages. I will go back to chewy.com, they deliver on their promised delivery date.

They refused to groom my dog twice…

They refused to groom my dog twice because he apparently had a tangle in his ear. I decided to bring him to a real groomer and they did a great job. I now use that groomer. Today I went there with my daughter who wanted a few fish. Instead of just bagging then up and letting us be on our way, the woman had to question everything. My tank, the amount of fish, I'm surprised she didn't ask my blood type. I took my daughter's have and left. It was suppose to be a fun day for her and PetSmart ruined it. We went to Petco who asked no questions and let us walk out with the fish we requested.

My dog has a heart condition...

My dog has a heart condition. He needs the Purina Prescription Lo-Fat Diet canned food tonight for reasons that I won't explain here. I saw on the website that Petsmart in Brooklyn had it. I live in Manhattan so it will take me at least an hour to get to Brooklyn but I went ahead and ordered several cans in mid-afternoon AND provided the prescription from the cardiologist. The website says they typically fulfill the order, and have it ready for pickup, in 2 hours. It's 8pm and they still have not notified me that the order is ready. I phoned and they were busy and said to call back later. Huh? Altho they had no problem debiting my card for the amount. And I thought Petco/Vetco was bad...

I'm letting down because they…

I'm letting down because they advertised one price for 1 item then they charge me for more now. I think that Customers need to not order any Subscribe and Saves from them at all. I was very disappointed about them not giving any money offers off now. I won't be ordering from them ever again now.

Customer service toll free number

My complaint is with the customer service phone line. I asked for a call back to give some feed back and was told I would get called that day. My expectations were not for that day and I told the representative that they could even call on Monday August 24th. No call yet and it's August 28th. My issue was with a manufacturers coupon and only feed back for them

New London

New London, CT. We've taken our golden-doodle Taffy here a number of times with results that were okay. But this time was different. I asked one of the associates to trim off a quarter of an inch all over, leaving her tail and ears untouched. Apparently she handed off the job to another associate who misunderstood the directions. Well they got the tail and ears part right, but they SHAVED the rest of her body. She looks like an oversized Mexican hairless.
We complained and they refunded our bill, but nothing can make it right, the damage is done. It will be months before she looks normal again. We are not happy! Also, the store manager is supposed to call, but we have not heard from her yet.
I would suggest instituting a formal check-in procedure with a detailed checklist of customer requests. This checklist should stay with the dog regardless of who does the grooming. Maybe the groomers should be trained to proceed only when they are sure about what the customer expects.

13 days since order and still no cat food.

I bought the 10 lb bag of cat food, along with other items on August 15, 2025. As of August 27, 2025, 13 days later, items still have not been received on my end. Due to the hot weather, food has now been compromised sitting on delivery trucks for 13 days. Customer Service could care less. I will never buy anything on line from Petsmart again. Update: Food arrived 3 weeks after I had ordered it. Get this ... it was mailed from s store only a little over 1 hour drive from my house. By 3 weeks, the food items are definitely compromised sitting in hot delivery trucks for 3 weeks. But the gut punch was the dry cat food had a best buy date that had expired prior to even sending the food to me. Wrote Petsmart and heard nothing, absolutely nothing back from them. Crickets.

Their app is a failure and it takes…

Their app is a failure and it takes more effort to get an order to go through than they're corporate service statement about integrity is an abject failure when it comes to calling and complaining. It's more about placating and evading responsibility than actually solving issues. Each time that I use the app, I have to try several times to get it to an accept and order. I called yesterday, was told that it was on a third party payer, and to speak with them. The issue is the third party payer never received the order because it's still sitting in the cart. A return call to speak to a supervisor I was told "she would contact me". Didn't happen. Another call this morning, first thing, same. Waited two hours, Called back, again, to get excuses. For a bag of dry cat food. Why should it be so hard? Because they could care less.

If this time is any evidence the grooming salon is not well run

New London Connecticut location: This was the third time we took our lab for a bath and nail grind. The first two times went smoothly. This time he came home with an eye injury that required a trip to the vet. They said "He kept rubbing it" but were clueless as to how it happened. He was in perfect health when he went. Also, maybe they were short staffed but there seemed to be disorder and lack of service when we arrived and when we came to pick him up. It didn't seem like a well run operation, at least not today.

Bogus coupon codes

Two months ago all of the one-time use monthly coupons they send out stopped working. Customer service is useless and half the replies seem like AI as they don't pertain to the actual question. When you do finally get what seems to be a person, they send you a coupon for in-store use, which is of no use to me as what I need is online sold online. I just signed up with a student discount site and they offer one-time use PetSmart coupons. Those don't work either. Stop sending out bogus codes to your customers.

So disappointed

Make sure if you ever get bonus points you use them right away. I got bonus points on the second of August and by the 4th of August they expired them 10,000 points they expired in 2 days after giving them to me pretty freaking sad if you ask me

Shoddy Supplies and Poor Customer Service

ONE star is to many. Should be negative 50.
Spoke with a Manager Jennifer 8/11/2025 about a Top Paw Metal Pet comb. The comb was loosing the teeth and wasn't that old. Jennifer said she would be working until close on the 12th, so I said we would be in. Jennifer offered a refund and when we got there, the wife went and got one so we could have a replacement instead. I was told Jennifer was at lunch and a different manager took care of us. This person said they do not give refunds or replacements if over 60 days. Regardless, I just started going back to Pet Smart because of a really "bad" experience with the grooming salon from a few years back. I was starting to get comfortable shopping there again until today. This gentleman lacked any customer service skills and apparently from what I have heard on these metal combs, it is common for them to loose there teeth. That is all a pet owner needs is an item that there pet can try and eat which could cause serious injury if not worse to the pet.
I guess I will continue to go to Petco and the other pet stores that actually care about the customer and the pets, because it is obvious that this one does not!!!! I don't like being "LIED" to by a member of management.

I am totally mortified with the…

I am totally mortified with the grooming my pup received yesterday. I had booked a grooming 2 weeks in advance and had a scheduled appt. Upon arrival, I was met with 3 other customers who stated that they also had an appt with the same groomer at the same time. Nonetheless, the groomer didnt even show and we were all sent home asking us to comeback at 10:30 when a manager would be there. I received a call at 10:00 asking if we'd like to come in at 10:30 for my appt. I agreed and checked my pup in. I was very specific on the cut I wanted for my pup and even showed them two pictures. The groomer asked if I wanted the same cut from last time and I said yes. I was told that my pup would be ready in 3-4 hours. To my surprise I was called 45 minutes later saying my pup was ready. I thought it was strange that Teddy Bear cuts dont usually take 45 minutes. When I arrived for my pup, of course you have to pay before you even see your dog, so I did....$113.00 later, they bring out a fully shaved dog!! NOTHING like what I asked for, and to make matters worse, the groomer cut my dogs pad and it was bleeding pretty good. I was so upset that I left witout even talking to a manager. I took my pup home and he was so scared and depressed. He did not eat at all and did not play. We bandaged his pad and here were are a day later and its still bleeding. I am taking my dog to the vet today and taking PETSMART the bill. I will never use them AGAIN!!!!

My dog went for a grooming appointment…and was mutilated by his groomer

My dog went for a grooming appointment on July 17, 2025. He was returned mutilated, cut ou with visible shaving marks and cuts ALL OVER HIS BODY. I COULD NOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER ABOUT WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED to my dog during groomer. After his wounds got worst , he had to be taken to vet for treatment, and antibiotics. This was definitely abuse to my dog. He will. NEVER RETURN THEIR FOR ANY SERVICES.
