Extremely poor customer service
I was informed that I had won 1 of 12 prizes for a bottle of this company's wine. They lost my data & I was not informed of this until I rang. I was twice told that I would be rung by someone called Gerrard, which did not happen. I was informed that I would receive my prize on Tuesday - this didn't happen. I asked for a gesture of goodwill ie an extra bottle of wine for all the efforts I'd had to make to get the prize & for lack of promised phone calls & was finally offered 15% off the next purchase. This would, of course, assume I'd want to purchase any product from a firm that had shown such poor customer service!

Dear Polly,
This has undoubtably been one of the strangest situations we/I have come across. I’m sorry that you felt you had to rate us one star after you received your prize (one free bottle of Rosé wine). For clarification, Polly has not purchased from us, or been into any of our stores! Polly did win 1 of 12 wines in an online SM competition we ran. We did communicate with all winners via email and said we would start dispatching the prizes w/c 21st June (week commencing - thus any time between 21st-25th). I’m sorry if the use of w/c wasn’t clear, we will not use abbreviations in the future.
Yes we did have an IT issue and we asked all the winners to resubmit their shipping details again via email which was going to delay the dispatch, everyone did this except Polly who chose to call the store directly and provide details over the phone. Polly was a prolific caller to the stores about the prize, and after speaking to Polly for over an hour myself about delivering her prize I had to politely end the call reiterating the same information as was previously communicated. Yes we could have just given Polly another bottle of wine as she asked but this would validate her use of Trustpilot as negotiating tool and in our judgment we felt it wasn't the correct course of action in this situation. We felt we communicated with all the winners in the same way with the same expectations around timings, and in good faith.
In summery, due to this ‘address gathering’ issue our prizes were sent out the following week, and the winners subsequently received their prizes on the dates 29th, 30th June, and 1st July. All-in-all only 3 working days later than anticipated after receiving the addresses on the second time asking. We will of course take onboard some learnings from this competition and scale down any future giveaways to focus on less but bigger prizes.
On another note, we were genuinely glad to receive some positive emails from the other winners (names removed):
The bottle of rose arrived today and it was absolutely delicious.
My mum is actually an NHS Key/Critical Worker, we shared it together and it was wonderful. Thank you so much and I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that I might win another bottle one day. Thank you again and all my best,
