Phonak tv hearing aid connector

As Phonak hearing aid users my husband and I thought we’d try the tv connector. I can honestly say it’s been life changing for me. Not only can I now hear tv characters that were previously muffled, loud music no longer blares out, but also, when my husband wants to watch something that I don’t, I can just disconnect from the tv, so can get on with other things in the same room without being distracted. I just wish we’d bought it a year ago! My husband loves it too, but being able to zone out has made it more special for me.

POOR WAX GUARD BASE

My husband and I both wear in the ear Phonak hearing aids but the problem that we both have is that the base of the wax guard (not the actual wax guard) the bit that the wax guard fits into keeps coming away from the hearing aid. We therefore have to wait 2/3 weeks for them to be mended. I previously had Widex in the ear hearing aids and during the four years that I had them the base only had to be replaced once. The Phonak ones need to be replaced about every 2/3 months. I really would think twice about having Phonak hearing aids again unless this problem was remedied.

Worst hearing aids Ever

Worst hearing aids Ever! I get mine through the VA system. These phonaks have been shipped off to Denver (4) times in 2 yrs and I have had to drive 32miles one way 8 other times in the same 2 yrs to my local VA for adjustments or other repairs at the hearing aid repair there. This is completely UNACCETPABLE! They are truly big time suck hearing aids, I am not egilible for replacements through the VA until 4/2028. I Hate this brand the Worst of the three brands I have had in the 15 yrs, I have used aids. Clyde S.

Response time on chat is glacial - hours lol
If you want to know what "enshitification" means then try using the myphonalkapp - if I see another invitation to upgrade to the
chargeable version I will insert the hearing aid in somebody else's rear!!!!!

Their TV streaming device does not work as advertised. But typically, two organizations point fingers at each other.

The retailer, Alps Mountain Affordable Hearing says it's a Phonak problem, they'll send it to Phonak to repair.

Phonak says it's a retail issue, "We recommend to reach out to your hearing health care provider to further assist you with this issue as it may need programming or repair which is outside our scope of support".

Punks out

For the third time in 12 months, one aid would not work. The first fix was a reboot by the audiologist. the second time, shoving it in a drawer for a week and recharging got it back. The third time now, it is heading to a landfill, sorry to see $5K go there, but they are unreliable. Best advice is to go to Costco!!

I have a very negative feeling about the industry that provides extremely expensive aids that are unreliable and one cannot count on them functioning. Who wants to be bothered making appointments, schlepping over to get a fix and keep repeating that scenario? I would really like to see some honest and unbiased statistics regarding frequency of repairs, failures of the expensive devices.
I know I could not work in that kind of environment that causes much frustration and monies for patients.

Very expensive and poor value for money⁸

LVery expensive and poor value for money
Unreliable and seems difficult to set up
Sphere noise reduction works very erratically. Music settings for live and recorded music has setting problems. In the 20 months I have had Phonak music is compressed, distorted and unusable. Only once did the audiologist get it right but then other problems arose and this setting was lost and never recovered!

Would have expected more from this over priced product and wouldn't recommend

Phonak have non existent customer support
Don't care about any problems you have and if you try and contact them they just refer you to your audiologist!!

Very poor, products expensive and unreliable

Do not buy go to Oticon/Resound etc
Probably the poorest company in the hearing aid industry

New Android app with poor adjustment features

Phonak apparently updated their Android mobile app. Now I only can adjust the volume but nothing else than to select various predefined programs with unknown settings.
I have bought these extremely expensive hearing aids expecting to adjust the various parameters according to my requirements any time.
Never I will be a future customer of Phonak.

Legal Violation and Elder Neglect in Turkey

Extremely disappointed with Sonova/Phonak. My father's device (Audeo P50) has failed 5 times in 2 years. Despite 3 warranty repairs for manufacturing defects, the local branch in Turkey ignored our emails for over 20 days and exceeded the legal repair duration. Returning a defective device to an elderly patient without a solution is unacceptable for a global brand. We have initiated legal action through the Consumer Arbitration Committee. Beware of the lack of post-purchase support.

Save your money & don’t get phonak hearing aids!

I got my Phonak hearing aids 4 months ago & I wish I had returned them in the allotted time but unfortunately I didn’t. I kept hoping that I would adjust to them but that’s not happening. Yes, I can hear better with them but it’s the other features that drive me crazy. Forget Siri. It only works sporadically at best. Very frustrating. I could not use Siri but what’s the point in that? It’s suppose to be a feature of the hearing aids but if it doesn’t work most of the time what did I pay so much money for? Also, when on a phone call it just switches back to the sound on the phone from the HA for no explicable reason. Also, you can answer a call by tapping the button but you can’t disconnect the call from the button on the HA. You have to get your phone out to hang up the call. The HA keeps working it’s way out of my one ear & I have to continually push it back in. Annoying. For as expensive as these HAs are, my suggestion would be to forget these. All the fancy stuff is very disappointing. I’m very soon going to be one of those old folks who doesn’t wear their HA because they are so very aggravating!

My Phonak infinio hearing ids were supposed to be the new best thing. Cost a fortune, are very poor at picking up speech, despite their special spheric speech program. Phonak are impossible to contact for help or feedback, despite my audiologist acting on my behalf. I will never use this brand again and will return to Oticon when I can afford new ones.

So far it is a huge disappointment

So far it is a huge disappointment. Thinking of switching to Oticon - I still have a month to decide. If it doesn't improve fast, I have to leave it. Too bad. I love the hearing aid and got it at the world's leading eye & ear hospital and audiologists. They are the best. I run an APP tech company - we don't put junk. And I dont have the time to struggle with someone else's bad tech all day long. Terrible.

Expensive, poor Bluetooth streaming, no noise cancellation

Audiologist recommended these and I wanted to get some help, but they are a royal pain to keep connected. I'm tech savvy enough to know that it's ridiculous, on a product that costs as much as 4 MacBook Airs, to have to regularly delete the MyPhonak app, restart my iPhone, and then reload the app -- all just to fix the Bluetooth connection!!! I fully intended to use these for years to help some with hearing and even more with tinnitus. But after 3 years, I've probably only used them an average of one hour per month — after trying REALLY hard in the first couple of months to master them, with repeated visits to the audiologist, who set up custom profiles for me, etc. Another big regret: I went for the most expensive model of Audeo L90 RT, partly because I wanted to stream audio content and use them for phone calls. But even after getting silicones domes installed, the noise canceling it PITIFUL -- can't hear music when at the gym with all the background noise, and worse, can't use them for calls in a co-working office space for the same reason (to mention I'd have to talk quite loud for the Phonak mic). Upshot: they're not very useful for play or work! ...only for using occasionally around the house to hear my spouse better. In end, I use my Apple AirPods Pro 2 all the time because they cancel out noise great and I can do phone calls in the loudest surroundings and the person I'm speaking with does hear any of it, and I don't have to use a loud voice for them to hear me. Wish I'd just bought some hearing enhancers from Costco for occasional use (in a group when some people don't speak up much, etc) and just stick with AirPods for everything else. Probably my worst financial decision in the past decade.
