Totally disgusting

I have just returned from 10 days here and I have to say this has been the worst holiday I have ever had.

The only thing that kept me and my partner there was the fact we were with family for a 60th and some of the staff.

The first day there we where by the pool and all we had was hassel every 5 minutes with people trying to sell us something. after telling them no multiple times they would persist to start touching you and putting creams or proceed to start threading you.

after giving in my partner went for a full facial pedi and manicure. after about 1.30 minutes she came back in floods of tears saying that she was practically tortured by a woman that had been hacking at her face for over 45 minutes and that she only had half of the treatment what she had purchased. my partner was reluctant to complain but a member of my family had insisted we complain. the manager that come to chat with is said that it was basically her fault that she never told them she has sensitive skin (to witch she doesn't) and that her face was disgusting and covers in blackheads. we asked for our money back to witch they refused and said she has to go back for the rest of the treatment and that she couldn't refuse an Egyptian because it's highly rude.

a day later her and another family member went back reluctantly to finish the treatment and the whole time they were rude and basically telling them off. my other family member is mouse blond and she had asked for the lighter shade of henna for her eyebrows but they ended up making them pure black. we did not go back in as this had gotten to the point where they clearly do not know what they are doing.

moving away from the spa the hotel itself is ok but completely stank of sewage where ever you go. the toilets have a burning smell of urine up your nose every time your near them.

The entertainment of a night is truly shocking and boring we ended up spending most of our time in the sports bar.

As for the alcohol it is truly disgusting there are 5 spirts you can have and they all taste the same. I feel jet fuel would taste better. I ended up having the wine but after 3 days of this the pure acid I was drinking made me ill.

this brings me to the food It is absolutely disgusting we witness so much cross contamination from someone using the same hand to put raw lamb on skewers and use the same hand to take them off to serve them. to putting raw burgers onto a grill and use the same hand to put them in bins to serve. the list can go on. they promise multiple restaurants but they all have the same stuff day in day out and have merged them all into one buffet. again here people where using their hands to collect food and using the same utensils for multiple food trays.

from day 3 onwards we all ended up getting ill some of us more than others to the point of sever diarrhea and sickness. the cleanliness of this place is diabolical the smell of sweage in your room when you use the shower to the stench all around the hotel.
if it wasn't for the family I would of left on day 2 this holiday is a 3 out of 10. 1 for family 2 for the weather and pier 3 for the great restaurant staff.

the pools are lined with a liner in the bottom and lack chlorine another way to spread illnesses.

The only good part about this hotel is some of the staff. the guys in the restaurant made sure that we had our drinks and a table for our large family every breakfast and dinner and the pool guy that made sure we had our drinks. the jetty out to sea is a great addition.

the whole experience of Egypt for me has been shocking and a complete waste of £3600 for the same price I would of gone to Mexico. I will never go back here even if someone else paid me to

Terrible experience! Ms Nouhalia at Sungo Club was particularly nasty

I had a reservation at the Pickalbatross Sungo Club in Marrakech. The Reservations Manager at this hotel, a Ms Nouhaila was horrid, rude and extremely unwelcoming. While we were at the reception of the hotel, trying to figure out what went wrong with our reservation, instead of coming out to speak to us at the reception, Nouhaila stayed put in her office and chose to speak with me on the phone instead. She was literally shouting down the phone at me. She said i should go and meet the platform (Prestigia.com), on which the booking was made. I was shocked at such poor level of service.

I had requested for my initial reservation to be amended due to being unable to depart from the UK. She agreed to amend my booking. Only for us to get to the hotel and there was no Reservation for us. She took our money, did not amend the booking as requested and we had to go and pay again to stay at another hotel.

This deplorable level of 'service', especially the antagonistic and uncaring attitude of the staff, is not in line with international standards of hospitality. A 30€ a night riad would offer better service and be more conscious of customer satisfaction.

Pickalbatros, refund my money. If you refuse to accommodate your guests and do not treat them with respect and dignity, the least you can do is give their money back. I want my money back. I have sent a letter to your Group Head Office regarding my experience. Refund my money. You do not treat a customer the way we were treated and still get to keep our money. I want my money back. I should not have to pay for your own inefficiency and lack of initiative.

Horrible and Racist Experience

Horrible and Racist Experience

We were treated with clear racism simply for being Egyptian, which is shocking in our own country. The receptionist refused to let us visit a friend staying at the hotel with no valid reason and then escalated the situation until we were literally kicked out.

The treatment was disrespectful, humiliating, and completely unprofessional. This was a horrible and traumatizing experience. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

If you want it even shorter or more neutral to avoid moderation issues, I can adjust it in seconds.

Got robbed 600£ extra on arrival by the hotel!!

I have been charged 600£ extra on arrival or no check in for my family because they don’t hold European passport, In Citadel Albatros Sahl Hashish, very frustrating and not a good image for the tourism or tourists coming to enjoy and relax, to start your holiday with frustration and disappointment, make you feel you got robbed despite all the potentials and the nice staff and service received in the resort.
This wasn’t mentioned anywhere or communicated on booking or confirmation otherwise wouldn’t have completed booking cause of this discrimination and unethical treatment.
Warning everybody before coming to this resort!

Not bad

Accommodation was ok except for balcony over a pool was like a motel where all sound especially kids at late nighttime was very loud...would've preferred one of the hut cottages in quiet area away ftom noise..as we were opposite the restaurant la asia it was practical for breakfast but unfortunately very lacking. No honey..tomato ketchup etc..coffee weak as nats piss..evening meal the soprano was best restaurant more selection etc..ala carte was only one called sea restaurant..nothing special .beef fillet was tough as all beef there mainly so chose chicken or fish best option.,?...entertainment was crap which we'd expected anyway..nothing but kids stuff or dancing or fire displays..drinks were quite good especially being served at portofino lounge who were very good and happy to serve double drinks to take home late evening to finish off. .would be better if we had free mini bar or optics like the riu hotels do..saves hassle having to walk back and fourth if yiu just want to stay indoors etc...overall a good break...lacking in signs for toilets especially no toilets in restaurants which is a bit of a pain...sunbeds are heavy wooden dangerous type mostly..
Lost my beech towel and was treated with contempt by beech towel brigade ..hassle trying to get new one!
Overall ok but average food..no poisoning so grateful for that..we were only English there so felt as though hotel caters for Italian etc..

Wouldn’t recommend if you want a 5-star experience

This hotel stay was consistently poor.

The food was genuinely disappointing. Although the buffet looked large, very little of it was actually tasty, and it became repetitive very quickly. The breakfast scrambled eggs were watery, and there was barely anything decent to pair them with. The options during the day were even worse — mostly unhealthy items like cakes, croissants pancakes or waffles. Trying to find savoury food in the afternoon was a struggle.

The service was equally frustrating. Staff repeatedly gave vague or unhelpful directions. At one point I wandered around the complex trying to find the spa after being told to ‘just turn right out of the building’ and eventually had to go back to get someone to drive me there on a golf buggy. When trying to find savoury snacks, I was sent outside to speak to someone who then informed me there was no food outside at all — meaning I had to go back inside where only sugary snacks were available. Everything felt like a hassle, and it rarely felt like staff actually wanted to help.

The room itself was underwhelming. The shower overflowed, cigarette smoke came into our room through the air conditioning, and on one night someone was whistling in the corridor at 2:30am (I know this is out of their control, but I believe it was a staff member as I saw them doing the same thing the next day). Another night the electrics in our room shut off completely at 12:30am and I had to go to reception to get it sorted. For the price and hotel category, the room felt very basic — nothing beyond a kettle and a few tea bags.

Other Issues:
As a woman, I also experienced moments where staff would only engage with my boyfriend, barely acknowledging me and even referring to me as “her” instead of addressing me directly. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional.
There are also derelict buildings scattered around the complex, which are quite an eyesore. And on one morning, someone was drilling outside our room at 8:30am for over half an hour.

Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. The combination of poor food, unhelpful service, uncomfortable rooms, and unprofessional behaviour made the whole experience disappointing. I would not return and cannot recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a superior experience.

Stunning, clean, comfortable, Luxury...well worth a visit

My best friend and I stayed at this beautiful hotel, from the moment we arrived we received a warm inviting welcome. The hotel is very clean and smells really nice throughout, the staff were always around to accommodate our needs and answer our questions. There are so many swimming pools and never a lack of seating. There is a large variety of different foods including homemade pizza which we absolutely loved. I very much enjoyed my SPA experience which is situated in the hotel. It is such a beautiful authentic Moroccan experience and thanks to Fatima Essadiki we were able to fully enjoy and relax, she discussed all our treatment options and was very patient with us. I recommend the full body massage after having a Hamman, the ladies who gave these treatments were absolutely lovely, very respectful and went out of their way to accommodate our needs and ensure we were happy. All the staff at this hotel are fantastic, we both had a really nice holiday and will be returning next year.

I am deeply saddened by Alf leila wa leila

I am deeply saddened, shocked, and annoyed by the service I received from Alf Leila Wa Leila. I experienced a genuine medical emergency involving my father, who was declared critically ill and on the verge of death by multiple doctors. As a result, I was unable to attend my booking.

All documentation, including full medical certificates and official doctors’ letters, was provided before my expected arrival date. The hotel was fully informed and advised in advance, which should have been sufficient to allow either a refund or a date change. This was well before my stay, so the reservation should not have been treated as a no-show as i informed them before hand. Despite this, the hotel refused both a refund and a date change and isn't assisting me.

Expedia and Agoda attempted to contact the property as they were my booking partner, yet the hotel did not respond and has still not responded.

Other hotels were understanding and assisted immediately once they understood the severity of the situation. This was the only property that refused to help and has still not provided any support.

Please book with caution, as this experience has left me unable to recommend them. I had expected a large, reputable brand to handle such situations responsibly, but this was not the case.

If anyone at the property is willing to resolve this matter, I can be contacted om my email I would appreciate proper assistance, as this process has been exhausting if a date change can't be issued i should be refunded or a compromise can be reached.

Warning about Booking at Pickalbatros Hotels on Booking.com

This is regarding three reservations at the following hotels:

Pickalbatros Palace - Aqua Park Hurghada

Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park - Neverland Hurghada

About a month ago, I booked two rooms for my family at the Palace - Aqua Park through Booking.com, and a friend of mine also booked a room at Neverland through Booking.com.

All of these reservations were marked as “No prepayment needed – pay at the property.”

A couple of days ago, I noticed that the hotel tried to charge my card for the amount of the first night. The transaction was declined because the card didn’t have enough funds.

I contacted Booking.com to ask what was happening, and they told me that the hotel is not allowed to charge anything in advance and that they would contact the hotel to tell them not to attempt any further charges.

The next day, my brother had the same issue — except in his case, they didn’t try to charge the card. Instead, they said his card was invalid and told him that unless he updated his card details within 24 hours, his booking would be canceled.

Today, my friend faced the exact same situation. They didn’t try to charge him, even though his card is active and has sufficient funds, but again told him that unless he changed the card, his booking would be canceled.

I called the Guest Relations department at the Palace - Aqua Park today, and honestly, their attitude wasn’t great — they were very dismissive.
They ended up saying that they must place a hold for the amount of the first night, otherwise the reservation will be canceled.

When I tried to explain that the booking clearly stated no prepayment and that I should be able to cancel for free up to a certain date (and that refunding the money later could be a hassle), they told me,

“It’s not a charge, it’s just a hold.”

(As if there’s a real difference — either way, the money won’t be available in your account.)

Of course, I wasn’t happy about this since it’s not right. I’ve been booking Hurghada hotels through Booking.com for four years and never faced anything like this. I actually have another booking at a Sunrise hotel under the same terms, and they didn’t try to charge anything.

When I told them I might cancel the booking, they simply said,

“Do whatever makes you comfortable.”

In summary:

The hotel listing on Booking.com says “You’ll pay nothing until you arrive,” but you may find that they:

Place a hold for the first night’s amount, or

Claim that your card is invalid even though it’s working fine.

Thankfully this happened before my trip, because I can only imagine what kind of experience it would’ve been at the hotel itself.

So be careful, everyone!

Food poisoning

My husband and I stayed in the Agadir Palais Des Roses resort 6-13 October.
We arrived fit and well yet within 24 hours we both came down with the worst food poisoning ever, which completely ruined our holiday. I was extremely poorly, had to have the Doctor visit the hotel to give me an injection to stop the extreme diarrhoea and vomiting. He also prescribed 5 different types of medication that I had to take for 5 days. I was in bed for 5 of the 7 days and my appetite didn't return until day 6. The hotel is excellent as are the staff but there is no doubt whatsoever that we both picked up a terrible bug in this hotel. My husband didn't need the Doctor but was also very ill. We have been home almost a week and his stomach is still not right.
I sat outside the hotel after a couple of days and saw a driver dropping off a paper bag of the same medication that was prescribed to me. We were not the only ones that we very ill.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Staff are amazing. Nothing is too much for them. Always there to listen.
The hotel was clean and the rooms were great. We were upgraded to a sea and pool view. The views from the balcony were lovely.
The food was fantastic. Such a large variety to choose from. The bakery section was delicious. I have told family and friends to stay at this hotel.
Well done to all the staff at Palais de Roses

Stayed at Pickalbatros makadi resort…

Stayed at Pickalbatros makadi resort lasted one day before I checked out and went to another hotel, rude reception staff felt like they couldn’t be bothered ignored us walked off not the welcome we wanted, the resort itself isn’t bad but staff make a hotel in my eyes they was rude bar staff clearly badly trained drinks were shockingly bad, warm beer badly mixed, food was ok but queuing rude guests pushing in and then looking at you like your in the wrong when you call them on it. Only redeeming feature is the amount of pools. Night time wasn’t any better cheap plastic furniture made it feel like an all inclusive in Benidorm not a 5 star resort like advertised it’s clearly a 4 at best. Also trying to charge for un returned pool towels was insane our towels got taken off our dryer outside and couldn’t get our card back how is that our fault ? Top tip go stay at jazz asteria and watch how they run a hotel perfection ! We lost thousands and had to fork out for 5 days at jazz worth every penny. Stay clear

Pickalbatros vita resort- marsa alam

Honestly can't give this hotel enough stars!
Mostafa Othman contacted us via WhatsApp the day before out arrival with all of the necessary info. He met us at check in and ensured our room was strategically placed so it was easily accessible with our 2 kids. Ot was outside the aqua park and near the kids club. He would check in with us daily to ensure we were satisfied and if any concerns came up and we reported it (AC wasn't working) once the technicians had been (within 5 minutes) to resolve it, he would come and ensure it was all up to standard.

The hotel is vast but once you find your bearings it is ok. There are a variety of restaurants and all the staff are so polite and friendly. There is a bus that goes around the hotel, cute little family bikes or if you feel lazy, you can call a golf cart to your door.

The aqua park is open from 11-1pm and then again from 3-5pm. There are also Motor boats and pedal swans during these times. There are lots of pools ( generally one behind every room that can be shared between approx 12 rooms) but always quiet. There is also portofino hotel next door and you an access everything there as well. There are lifeguards all day at each pool so very safe. Waiters are always around to offer you drinks.

Housekeeping staff are all very friendly and always smiling.

There are shops on site but I founds them pricey (£10 for a bucket and spade) so maybe pack your own and your own snorkeling gear.

There is a dive centre on site where you can hire it from for £5 a day per person but we would snorkel almost every day so was pricey. They also offer excursions. We chosen to snorkel with turtles. I do feel they oversold and underdelivered but the guide was really nice and tried his best to make sure my kids (4 and 6) had the opportunity but taking them out onto the water and ensuring their safety.

If you are looking for a resort where you just stay this is perfect. But if you want to venture out, there is nowhere to go.

This is the second pickalbatros I have stayed at and It is perfect for families with kids.

It's a beautiful place and spotlessly clean

It's a beautiful place. The staff, including Aminia, our cleaner, Massi, our waiter, and Fatima in the spa, were brilliant. There was nothing they would not do for us.
We holidayed here in Agadir last year and were so impressed that we returned again in 2025. We will be booking another cheeky week next May. Thank you all

A vacation ruined – poor management, not worthy of a 5-star hotel

We stayed at the Pickalbatros Golf Resort in Marrakech, and what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday quickly turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience.

From the second half of our stay, the hotel prioritized a medical congress over the wellbeing of its regular guests. Half of the facilities were privatized: one of the main pools was closed without warning, the lunch restaurant was made inaccessible, and even the sunbeds and parasols were reserved for the congress attendees. As a result, we were all crammed into a single pool area, fighting for space and basic comfort. This is absolutely unacceptable in what claims to be a luxury resort.

We had booked two rooms and encountered serious maintenance issues in both. One had a flooded bathroom, a broken bidet spray, and lights that turned on randomly at night – I had to unplug them to get some sleep. The second room had persistent sewage smells and also required technical intervention for the plumbing and leaking bidet. We had to call maintenance several times. If this is what they call a “room upgrade,” I can’t imagine what a standard room must be like.

The management’s only response was to offer a last-minute spa voucher – completely useless when we were already leaving. No real apology, no financial compensation, and a clear lack of professionalism.

We are still in contact with other guests who experienced the same treatment. It’s clear that the hotel puts private events before the satisfaction of paying vacationers. I strongly advise against staying at this resort – there is nothing 5-star about the service or the guest experience.
