I absolutely love my two purses, and the customer service staff were incredibly nice and helpful. However, as someone who shops online frequently, their return/exchange policies stand out in a bad way... See more

Portland Leather Goods was founded in 2015 when Curtis Matsko began crafting leather goods in his Portland garage with a simple goal: create beautifully simple, high-quality leather bags at a price people could actually afford. What started as a one-man project has grown into a global community of leather lovers, artisans, and repeat customers who believe great design should be accessible. We specialize in simply designed leather bags and accessories, including crossbody bags, tote bags, backpacks, wallets, journals, and everyday carry essentials. Our focus is on clean lines, functional design, and real leather that looks, feels, and smells like leather should. We source our hides from the beef industry, giving materials that would otherwise go to waste a second life. Our leather is tanned in award-winning facilities that prioritize environmentally responsible practices. Because our bags are made from real leather that is not synthetically coated or painted over, natural markings such as spots, grain variation, and occasional scars are part of what makes each piece unique. We own and operate our artisan workshop, The Studio, in León, Mexico, located near two of the most respected tanneries in North America. This close partnership allows us to maintain high standards, reduce environmental impact, and build long-term relationships with the people who make our products. Today, Portland Leather Goods continues to grow through word of mouth and a loyal customer base who appreciate simple design, durable materials, and accessible pricing. Our business is built around people, from our artisans to our customer support team to the community that proudly shares their bags every day.

The handbag was bone with a small black spot on the front that would not rub off and the the shoulder strap was very crooked. Very poor craftsmanship.
Trying to return it, I am not getting any replies back from their customer service.
Quality lacking
The experience was okay. The quality of the purse is not. I haven't even used it yet and when I went to use it, I saw that there's "flaking" on the strap. Maybe the purse is leather, but the strap is something else because leather doesn't flake like that for no reason. I won't be buying anything else from therm.
It all fits!!!
Easy shopping, the only issue is keeping track of where a certain bag is! And which bag comes in which color.
Today ! Got A Box! Now I think I can get organized in my pink a boo koala bag! I got a utility bag, and two small square bags. They all fit perfectly! I can find what I want right away. Amazing!!!

I have shopped with PLG for myself and my wife for a number of years. I think my first visit must have been in Portland just after they opened. We've never had any issue - we've visited stores in Portland and Denver and had wonderful visits as well as good experiences shipping. These are beautiful bags that hold up well. These bags are what they are - largely unlined, not fussy, durable, and natural looking and reasonable for the price. Just shopped the C-sale with my wife for her and a friend. One tiny complaint - add more for men - belts with removeable buckles, bigger backpack/duffle type satchel bags. I'd be an even happier shopper.
Products are 5-star, Order fulfillment and Shipping is Negative Stars
Products are 5-star, sense of community on the Insiders page is also 5-star, but their 3pl partner is absolute trash. Order fulfillment and shipping is beyond a joke. It's as if they bought they 3pl partner on Temu. Since the switch, orders take over a week to process and way more than that to ship. Nothing is shipped via trusted, efficient shipping carriers anymore. When you contact Customer Service, they just feed you the standard spin of "we know it's frustrating, we're working through hiccups, thanks for your patience." I'm a loyal customer who spends too much money on their products and I am perilously close to saving my money by never shopping there again. I've turned a lot of people onto PLG and if I leave, they will too. Which is a shame because we are all having so much fun growing our collections.
Purchased a small coldbrew slouchy…
Purchased a small coldbrew slouchy bag that has the three little trees on the front of it and one of the trees broke off. They won’t cover it under their warranty. The bag is four months old so they don’t stand behind their products. I do not recommend buying anything from them.
I like the leather bags but purchasing…
I like the leather bags but purchasing directly from PLG is a gamble. They use multiple delivery companies, UniUni? Vehoo....they are terrible. Packages damaged or delivered to wrong address. Customer service is poor. You must buy the shipping insurance at checkout. I purchase most of my bags on resale Facebook pages for PLG where I get reliable delivery via UPS or USPS.
Poor Quality, colour difference, return cost
The bag I received was a totally different colour from how it appears on the website. It was poor quality, it looked cheap A note came with the bag stating the dye could transfer onto clothing! I would never have ordered had I known this before. It cost me $35.00 for shipping to me and $30.00 to return it. A total of 75.00 for a refund of $114.00. I shouldn’t have to pay this 75.00 for their inaccurate web photos. What a rip off. I wish I had read these reviews before ordering from this company.
Unfortunately a one star is way too…
Unfortunately a one star is way too much. Poor quality workmanship and leather. Extremely poor customer service as they make it very difficult to contact them and forget about returning the items. They have a great social media department they embellish so well. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!
Not as they advertised
I was wanting to order a bag on the "Almost Perfect" section and use my accumulated "points" to get a discount. Could not follow the procedure for claiming points and asked for assistance as I really wanted the bag. 3 days of automated responses and telling me they would email...nothing. Even told me the bag wasn't available when it was still visible for sale on the page. Constant automated responses to my concerns, no assist with points, which I think the try to get out of using. Have loved my previous purchases but this was poor service, very poor service and attitude toward customers
Scam
Scam! On the commercial you see super good looking bag , with magnet lock , hard skin and nice colour . In reality you receive a Chinese model cheap bag with zip , smelling weird (not like skin , but some chemicals ) and fake leather . Super disappointed - waste of money . Never order from them !
I wish I could upload the pictures of what I purchased and what I received….
BEWARE
I made a purchase on 5/2 received on the 8th. Immediately contacted company that pocketbooks weren’t large enough. I have gotten the runaround ever since. When completing return form it takes me to buy another. Very shady company and I want ever purchase again.
BEWARE…

What a rip off company if you have to return a bag!
I received the bag, the strap was too short to work for a sling bag as advertised plus when I go to return the bag they charge me double for shipping return plus I was already charged for shipping in the beginning for a bag I paid $105.00 for the original purchase for my return is only processed at $42.11 . What a rip off!
Beware! I will never recommend or shop with this company in the future.Really bad customer service! One star is really too much!

Terrible customer service!
I placed my second order with Portland Leather just one week after my first purchase. During checkout, I entered the WELCOME30 code I had used previously, but it did not apply and my order was processed at full price.
I understand that WELCOME30 is a one-time-use code, so I’m not disputing that. What was frustrating is that the company was actively running another promotion, SUNNY25, which would have given me 25% off. Portland Leather themselves acknowledged that if I had entered that code, I would have received the discount.
I contacted customer service immediately after placing the order to cancel or have the active discount applied, but there is no option to cancel an order and no customer service phone number to call. Their response was that they could not make any retroactive adjustments and instead offered me 600 reward points toward a future purchase.
That solution felt inadequate, especially since they admitted I was entitled to a substantial discount if I had entered the other code. Considering they seem to run sales almost constantly, the “sale” pricing appears to be their standard pricing anyway.
I do like their products, but the lack of flexibility and poor customer service left me very disappointed.

Great Products and Customer Service
I love all of my products from Portland Leather Goods. They have the best customer service also. I had a slight issue so I contacted customer service via email. They responded within a day and made sure everything was correct in no time. I would highly recommend this company.

Do not buy unless you are in the US
Do not buy unless you are in the US. They will not return your purchase if in another country and they add fees on top of the purchase like duty’s.
Very unsatisfactory.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM
They cancel orders, ignore emails, and run a permanent “25% off” discount code designed to create false urgency. They are currently being sued in federal court over it. (Lyden et al. v. Portland Leather Goods, Inc.).
Their shipping insurance scheme is predatory. On top of the regular shipping cost you have the choice to buy shipping insurance. Which should cover any mishaps. No insurance means no help if your package is lost, damaged, or you need to return it. I had insurance, still waited over a week for a return label, and was shorted on my refund.
There is no such thing as customer service, unless you consider auto generated emails that basically say the same thing and are never answered acceptable.
The quality is very poor. Shop elsewhere. You’ll be glad you did!

I ordered from PLG three times
I ordered from PLG three times, as a new costumer.
The first time, I recieved a smooth black med crossbody & the crocking on the bag was so incredibly bad- the white towel I wiped it with IN THE BOX, turned black.
Exchanged in a store a city away from my house because “customer service” didn't get back to me after a week.
Second order; I did my research and purchased two bags in Nutmeg, thinking pebbled brown wont stain. These were gifts for Mothers day.
The bags arrived and had this TERRIBLE smell, such a strong chemical odor it literally made me nauseous. I aired out each bag, and the smell seemed to have gotten stronger.
On top of that, each bag was supposed to arrive with a canvas organizer. Neither one did.
The quality of these bags is nothing special, and the smell attached to them is beyond nauseating. Not to mention my “free” items werent included which I didnt even realize until a day later because the smell threw me off so bad.
This company feels very scammy. I will never order from them again.
