Terrible international move
I moved from the USA to France through PTS and Restore Harrow Green(RHG). This move has caused numerous inconveniences in both my personal life and business priorities for my business. in addition, I have to pay 50% more than I initially quoted and my household goods are delayed for 30 days.
PTS arrived at 2:30pm and started to pack a 2-bedroom move at 3pm in the afternoon, literally the last job of their day with a 26ft cargo van. We finished packing until midnight. I had to pay for the workers' meals and drinks out of pocket, and as a customer, I had to participate in the packing process as a customer.
Here's the quality of the packing :
1. Most of the furniture items were disassembled and intentionally taken apart into several wooden pieces, which I didn't think it was necessary. however, as a customer, I couldn't stop them. As a result, it took a significant amount of time for the movers to pack this seemingly simple item professionally. Additionally, the assembly costs will be incurred at the destination. It is totally defeating the purpose to save on assembly costs and time. Also, I saw them throw one of my computer monitors into a big box with other items and lots of fillings.
2. Many items in my inventory list were not packed in this move, despite not containing a battery. Because of that, as a single lady, I had to pack two separate suitcases and drive alone back to Seattle after midnight. It was inconvenient to carry such a heavy load internationally, and I had to pay additional fees to the airline.
The aftermath of this move ( still going on ) :
1. PTS estimated 20ft international container 2x more than initially anticipated. Since I didn't get the detailed breakdown costs from RHG hence I am not sure if PTS counted all the fillings ( which they intentionally added ) and charged extra labor fees despite the workers told me there wasn't extra charge to work till late as long as I paid the dinner & drinks out of pocket
2. The shipping is delayed 30 days than we initially estimated because PTS spent extra days counting the shipping load.
Had I been aware that Restore Harrow Green was collaborating with PTS instead of International Van Lines (as previously communicated by RHG), I will not choose RHG. Unfortunately, I was not provided this information as a consumer. I wish to assert my legal rights concerning this issue, along with the possibility of seeking compensation.
