Quick Drain Clear - Unprofessional with Worthless Warranty
Our property’s gutters/downpipes were blocked by autumnal leaves. Despite being initially quoted an exorbitant figure to clear some of the drains, we negotiated a fixed price with QuickDrainClear to clear all the drains. Note, dear reader, ALL the property’s drains, without singling out particular ones - a simple enough job scope, you might think. Their worker, Willie Hamilton, also confirmed a 90-day warranty for the work although he did not issue details of this in writing. Out of professional respect, we did not stand over him whilst clearing the drains - which we would recommend any client of QDC should do because it transpired he did not complete the work scope. When we discovered some of the drains had not been cleaned (realising these couldn’t be tested until the winter weather allowed), we phoned to claim under the so-called ‘warranty’. After leaving several messages, we were initially told - by the very same worker - we should have checked at the time whether he had completed clearance of ALL the drains! How might we have done that, we asked. To us, only a child needs supervision - he had agreed a price to clear ALL the drains, payment was made promptly and we were raising a claim within the agreed 90 day period. All these are indisputable facts. We attempted to reason with QDC they would surely want to take pride in completing all their work to a professional level because a positive review inevitably adds greater value to their business than the marginal cost of revisiting the site to finish the job. He refused to attend without additional payment, and has subsequently claimed the warranty was actually only valid for 30 days. Hence, it's difficult to write anything positive about a drain clearing service which proved incapable of completing and unwilling to remedy what should have been a straightforward task without wanted additional payment for a worker to return and maybe do the job properly second time whilst offering yet another worthless and variable guarantee. Our analogous summary: if you take your car to a garage and pay them to re-inflate all the tyres, you presume they won't hand it back with a flat and certainly you expect them to complete the job without further charge!
