I have recently made a will with the help of Newman's
solicitors in Horley.
I must say the service they provided was excellent.
They made the process very easy for me to follow and I would have no hesitation in using Newman's in the future.

Costing thousands to rectify their mistakes

When purchasing our flat, the team at Newmans was slow to respond, but we managed to complete the process eventually.

However, 3.5 years later, when attempting to sell the property, we discovered that they failed to flag critical issues in the legal documents. Rectifying these oversights has already cost us thousands. Despite reaching out to James and his team multiple times to understand why this information wasn't addressed at the time—potentially saving us significant expense—we have only received vague assurances that they are "looking into it." Unfortunately, despite our persistent follow-ups, no meaningful response has been provided.

Excellent and very quick service…

Excellent and very quick service provided by James Way on a residential property matter for which I was seeking legal advice. James W could not have been more helpful and talked me through the nuances of the matter in a clear and friendly manner. A solicitor in the family department lied…

My instructed solicitor in the family department lied to me when representing me then underperformed. I have this in his own words in writing. I was then part refunded the fees that I had paid and received a pathetic apology. The company then made things very difficult for me with my court application with their complaints process. I would not recommend Newmans,.

I can’t reply to your reply. But stop lying and pretending you don’t know who I am and what my experience was. You know exactly who I am (DG). You employ vermin as your family solicitors and he lied to you as much as he lied to me. You know this as I received a refund. I will be seeking further compensation if you don’t call me to discuss and settle the matter.

Again I can not reply to your reply so I am having to extend my review again. If you have several complaints from people with the initial DG then that says more about your practice than it does about my case. Mr Way can contact me directly to resolve this.

I believe that is me that you are speaking about in your most recent reply but the whole situation has definitely not been resolved and was done so under duress. Only now am I able really assess the damage that was caused by JW and his bad practice and wish to discuss this matter further with him and your directors.

We do not have any current or recently completed clients with the initials 'DG' who have made a complaint to us in any of our departments. The only client we have who used our services with the initials 'DG' and who made a complaint was back in 2022 which was resolved. Can you please confirm this was you so that we can look into this? I want to thank James and team at Newman's Solicitors for all the help we received, dealing with the lease of our new business. Absolutely horrific

Absolutely horrific. Please avoid. I have dealt with solicitors on property transactions every day of my working life for nearly 15 years and they have got to be the worst I have ever encountered.

Initial file opened in August 2020, monies paid to them swiftly, 3rd buyer down the line and we have been waiting 6 weeks for them to send the sales contract to our new buyer's solicitor.

I only got a call 5 weeks after the new sales memo was sent to them, to request the property forms to be completed again (not standard practice among other firms) when I had confirmed nothing had changed since completing them back in August and they keep asking us to repay the fee we paid back in August, without a full explanation as to why and without an abortive invoice (even though it's the same flat we are selling so no idea why this is their process).

I have been waiting for this abortive letter since last week before paying them a further £750 and found out today that they have been sitting on the sales contract for 6 weeks.

I've been so focused on getting our purchase lined up to enable us to complete before the stamp duty deadline via another law firm (who is fantastic) and this was looking very possible until I found out that nothing had moved on our sale.

No urgency, communication severely lacking, no point of contact allocated so can't speak to anyone useful.
Fed up of the excuse of people being "busy", if you are too busy to service clients then stop taking on instructions.
