I hired an aerator from them at their Godstone branch. Not the newest machine but not expensive either and worked well. The people were lovely and the service was excellent. I will go back!

I hired a mitre saw for two days from their Sevenoaks branch. After I got home and lifted the saw a metal bit fell out and I noticed there were cut marks on where the saw is lowered. I phoned them straight away and told them, the guy on the phone agreed that it would not impact the use of the saw so I went ahead. When I took it back they basically said I lied and that I broke the saw. The metal bit is part of the casing that locks the saw by a piston. I am a 63 years old retiree, so they think I have the superhuman strength that can just yanked the saw open and broke the metal? If it is that feeble DeWalt would not be as popular as it is! There is nothing that I can do, a machine that they hire out regularly and abused just got a new part. What I am angry about is that I know there is no way we can each prove what we said but being confrontational right from the start with no discussion or understanding is appalling customer service. The young chap who serviced the saw could not have serviced it properly. My integrity is the absolute foundation of my entire career, to be accused of lying makes my blood boil. There is nothing I can do because of the contract and it is I who is honouring the contract legally, and it is them who is not honouring the unwritten contract between a company and its customers. I will not hire from them again and I will not recommend them to anybody who cares to ask.

Really polite and generally warm and nice guy on the end of the phone. Super efficient service, did a great deal for me hiring a van. Brand new van (no pressure driving it then!!). Perfect all round and would recommend this company to anyone, especially if you live around the local area.

Rawstone Van Hire was recommended by a colleague - we needed a van when we were moving house last year.

We hired a van from Rawstone, an also used GH Services for help packing up and moving things from our old house to new.

Rawstone were well priced, flexible and really reasonable when our plans changed. Dealing with Phil in the office was great.

Gary at GH was fab - efficient, conscientious, polite and took good care of our stuff.

I recently hired a van from Rawstone Vehicle Hire. I can't recall a time when I have received better customer service from anyone. They were very polite, informative and were happy to wait if I had to drop the van back later than planned. Having left something in the van by accident, they also delivered the item back to me afterwards. All-in-all, I received excellent service from Rawstone and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this business to anyone.

On Monday I provisionally booked a digger, dumper and roller for the weekend because I have 36tonne of type one being delivered. Was to call on Thursday and pay the deposit or I’d be contacted on Thursday to pay deposit. I called on Thursday morning to pay the deposit and they had booked out the machinery I had already booked!
I was told “we have plant in and our all day, I can’t hold onto the plant you provisionally booked”

If I could give 0 starts I would.
Do not use if you are in need of a reliable plant hire company.

Couldn't have had a better experience. Phil was extremely pro-active and attentive in his communication, even calling me to check which size van was most appropriate for our needs. Fantastic flexibility in terms of the hire period. i.e. offering the van from Friday evening to Sunday morning (for use on the Saturday). Would highly recommend and will definitely use again.

Do not use this company, absolutely appalling customer service.

Arranged a breaker for a day at £20 plus vat. Breaker worked fine and got the job done. When returned the cost was £28 plus vat for the day not £20 as confirmed. I queried this and was told the one I’d been given is £28. I mentioned that he had given me it in the morning so it was his error, I had booked the £20 one. The reply was, ‘that one’s £28 for the day’. He’s either ‘not all there’ or, which is more likely, this happens all the time. There was also a chisel sharpening charge added that wasn’t mentioned online or in the morning. After breaking concrete all day I didn’t have the energy to argue. I checked online when home and the one I’d been given was the £20 one.
Steer clear or check it all when collecting - I’ll now be going elsewhere. My wife reminded me that I moaned about them when I rented something before, but I’ll learn my lesson this time.

I recently hired a digger and a tree stump grinder from the Godstone office. I had some complications using one of the machines. Rawstone were fantastic. They brought me a replacement machine and were great to deal with. Every single member of staff was helpful and courteous. They only charged me for the days that I could use the machinery. Great machinery in excellent working order too.

They’ve now exhausted my tolerance and I’ll never use them again,, 3 bad experiences all in a row, rented a digger 2 years ago and it was literally junk( eventually when you could get it started) . Then last year I rented another digger from the same branch in riverhead, paid extra for the pecking attachment, both couplings wouldn’t detach off when trying to uncouple, rang the branch and got told... ‘’can’t get someone out to ya to sort out the faulty equipment till late the next day’’ ...... thanks!... then I managed to free the couplings so I rang to try to save them a journey.... then I was shouted at by a guy called steve (I think that was his name) shouting...WHAT ARE YOU DOING TOUCHING OUR MACHINES!!!... now he’s having a go at ME !!!????!!!! Such a stinking attitude..
Last straw now.... used them a couple of days ago to rent a cutting saw ... only used it once for 2 minutes( the blades were about as sharpe as a spoon ) anyway took it back after 48 hours , was at the Godstone branch, I didn’t raise the issue with the blades on return as I didn’t use them ( used my side cutter in the end ) I joked with the nice lady on the desk!.... ‘’only used it for 10 minutes’’ I said .... ‘’ I’ve just been lazy and lady it on the van’’ I joked...... to which a confrontational guy to her right said YOU HAD IT FOR THE TIME SO YOU GOTTA PAY FOR IT .... to which I said...’’ alright mate I wasn’t arguing about it!’’ Such a bad attitude,
they charged me for 3 days on the receipt ,

They can delete my account ..... they won’t be hearing from me again..... hss all the way!

I wish I had seen these previous reviews before hiring from this company.

Hired a floor saw from Godstone branch on 9th September which was priced at £50 for the day on their website.

Was offered the option to buy a blade or pay for wear - As there was very little to do I opted for wear which was charged per mm.

Agreed to have it delivered for a small additional charge (they said although didn't say how much this would be).

They said I would need to leave a £300 deposit.

The item was delivered by a very unhelpful individual (I didn't see them but my builder did).

Before use we measured the blade (twice) and there was 4mm usable blade.

Telephoned as requested once finished and it was collected some time the next day.

On checking my credit card the following day I find a refund of £74 meaning total cost £226!

Tried to call them on the Saturday but the guy was filling in and didn't have access to the info and said to call Monday.

I called Monday to be told the blade we used had 5mm to start and 1mm left on it (it only started with 4mm so this has to be inaccurate) - and was charged £20 per mm.

The delivery was £22+ each way (and it should have been £28!!) and there was a small charge for the petrol usage.

All in all I feel that we have been completely shafted by this company and are not explicit in their charging structure.

As a result, I would advise anyone to hire with caution, or, better still, avoid at all cost.

We hired a Petrol Flail Mower from Rawstone Hitre, Godstone on Thursday 6/6/19

Having set the machine up and starting to use/operate it. We Immediately noticed that the machine was temperamental and wouldn't always operate correctly. The flail and drive were very challenging to operate and when the red safety lever was released the mower wouldn't turn off, requiring the fuel to be shut off to turn the machine off. This safety factor along with the temper mentality of the machine caused us great concern to continue to use the machine and so returned it to Godstone.
Our observation/dissatisfacti­on/safety concerns weren't even listened to by the man behind the desk and He was found to be both dismissive & rude in his customer service attitude.

I phoned the Godstone branch on the afternoon of 6/6/19 and the man I spoke to must have been the same person who was dealt with earlier as He was again sarcastic and dismissive. He did though say he would get back to me on Thursday 6/6/19 to resolve the dispute and discuss my refund.

I waited to hear from Rawstone Hire, Godstone for the rest of Thursday and by late Friday afternoon 7/6/19, I had to contact the Godstone Branch to follow up on the matter as no one had taken the time to contact me despite promising to and holding on to my £350 deposit.

I was disappointed (but after the customer service we'd received so far, not entirely surprised) to be told there was no one there until Monday 10/6/19 to address the matter.

Appalling customer service.

Steer clear of this company! Ancient floor sanding equipment which caused more problems than it was worth. Result; floor a bit of a mess, house FULL of dust and days of stress. Do yourself a favour and hire from another company with modern, well maintained equipment, not this one!
