Service Standards Have Significantly Dropped

I have been a long-time RBC client with multiple accounts and mortgages. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been very disappointing.

Communication has been inconsistent, and calls are often not returned in a timely manner. I have not received proactive financial guidance despite being with the same advisor for several years.

Recently, I had to book an appointment just to clarify how to deposit a draft after an initial visit did not resolve the issue. Basic banking tasks should not require that level of effort.

We also waited nearly two months for a credit decision, only to receive a decline without meaningful alternative solutions offered.

As a long-standing customer, I expected a higher level of professionalism and service. At this point, I am seriously considering reviewing my banking relationships.

Horrible customer service and rude staff

My mom and I went to the RBC and one of the employees had horrible service. He didn’t tell us about ANY of the fees, he told us we can figure it out online and he just walked away. Like hello what kinda of service is this? His managers even there. Why is there no managers at a bank. When we first walked in nobody even wanted to help.

Just recently found out my grandmother…

Just recently found out my grandmother had a will. Everything was left to my dad, and my dad was executor, but my dad had passed eight years before she did. Everything was then left between myself and my two brothers. After appointing my brother the executor, he went to the bank with the will and identification. Just to find out that after my grandmother passed away. Someone went into the Royal Bank of Canada and took the contents out of her safety deposit box and bank account illegally. The bank allowed this without legal documents. How could this happen? And now we have to pay legal fees on top of this to find the thief? Unreal RBC

Our daughter has an RBC account

Our daughter has an RBC account. For year s I have been able to deposit money in her account by going into an RBC bank, WITH CASH & her account #, into her account. Over a year ago I'm told by tellers
"if YOU DO NOT have an account with RBC we DO NOT provide you with any services". I explained that you, RBC Bank, were providing a service for YOUR member. I am depositing cash into your members bank account. "NO, we cannot do that unless you become a member of RBC Bank". Idiots.
I told our daughter to switch to a less incompetant bank. I advise the same to anyone else dealing with RBC. They are incompetant.

RBC will universally refuse to provide any service that helps the customer consolidate debt if it means they can gouge less interest payments. They are the most predatory bank in Canada, avoid them.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Account Fees and NSF Charges

I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding recurring fees applied to my account.
Over time, I have noticed what appear to be unexpected or poorly timed service charges applied to my account. On multiple occasions, these fees have caused my balance to drop below zero shortly before scheduled pre-authorized payments, such as my car payment and insurance. As a result, I have incurred additional Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) charges on top of the original fees.
This cycle has placed me in significant financial strain. At times, I felt compelled to seek short-term borrowing solutions simply to prevent further penalties. In the past year alone, I have incurred over $180 in NSF fees, in addition to regular account service charges.
I acknowledge that I am responsible for managing my account; however, the timing and structure of these fees have contributed to ongoing financial hardship. The experience has led me to move my primary banking activities — including payroll deposits — to a local credit union that offers fee structures and support services better aligned with my financial situation. I now maintain my RBC account strictly for limited bill payments as I transition away from it.
I hope RBC will review its fee practices and consider how they impact clients who are actively working to manage their finances responsibly.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

An awful bank

Truly, a horrible bank, lousy, customer service, terrible retail banking, high fees. When you have an issue, they take forever to deal with anything and mysteriously. It’s never in the customers favor.

Avoid this bank at all costs they don’t care about their customers, especially small business customers, but I truly horrible bank for small business.

The service is horrible

The service is horrible. I would not be a client at the branch. I cancelled my appointment. I will keep my current back but will maybe try another RBC branch. This one is impersonal you are just a number not a client they care for and to keep. It is good for immigrants and students not professionals like myself. I just wanted to transfer my credit card for a low interest rate one at rbc and the girl made was not experienced and not theral. They lack professionalism . When I was was waiting for my appointment one women called her coworkers "cocotte ". Very demeaning and unprofessional.
Is she stuck in the 80s??? It is politically incorrect and unprofessional to speak to your coworkers like that .
Amateurs ! On top of the fact I could not even understand what she was telling me
She needs to go back to french lessons. Just with their ratings you can tell that they need to do a big change or close .

Arognat and non-responsive

Arognat and non-responsive. If you put a lot of money into the account, they waste all the investment, but do not charge a $4 fee. If you withdraw money, they charge a $ 4 fee. I went to complain, and they told me that I can close the bank account if I want, which I am going to do.

Extremely disappointed with RBC 😡

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service experience I received from RBC. The telephone representatives demonstrated little to no product knowledge, which made it very difficult to get accurate information about the service I was inquiring about. In addition, the hold times were excessively long, and after waiting, I was repeatedly transferred between departments that did not handle my request. This created unnecessary frustration and wasted a significant amount of time.

As a customer, I expect efficiency, competence, and proper direction when seeking assistance. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite. RBC should invest in better staff training and improve their call routing system so clients are connected to the right department the first time.

If I could give 0 I would

If I could give 0 I would. This bank does not care about you as a customer. I was a loyal customer for years and years only to have my accounts closed with no reason at all. Nothing I was doing was illegal but they closed my 2 business accounts and personal accounts. Credit card and safe deposit box. I asked why, the response I got was we dont need to give you a reason. Horrible bank. Even the staff was blown away and apologized and said RBC is doing this to alot of people lately. I will never recommend this bank to anyone.

RBC Customer Service SUCKS!!!

RBC uses an absolutely awful robotic "telephone assistant" that is a terrible excuse for Customer Service. The options are mostly useless, the system hangs up on people, AND it will only allow you to make an appointment for a call back from a customer service agent IF you you select one of the very limited options! I was "migrated" to RBC from HSBC. I thought HSBC had become too automated and impersonal, but WOW, RBC IS SO MUCH WORSE!!!

Expect a nightmare loaded with B.S. just to do the simplest thing, such as correcting your mailing address because RBC keeps screwing it up!!

ZERO STARS is better suited as a rating for RBC.

I am writing to formally express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the service I have received from your fraud and investigation team. I am a victim of a $1,500 fraud, and despite reaching out multiple times, I have received little to no meaningful assistance.

The representatives keep insisting that the fraud occurred from my device and repeatedly promise to call back, but no follow-up has occurred. Furthermore, there seems to be no real investigation into the $1,500 in question. This lack of support and urgency is completely unacceptable and has caused me considerable stress and frustration.

This has been a highly negative experience.

I gave some wrong information on a phone call that I thought was Rbc and lost $30,000 to my company and they will not reimburse me to the fraud agency even though I’m from Canada and these charges were taken out in India. I’ve never been to India why would they not have put a hold on that?
