Business Bank that says no to…

Business Bank that says no to everything - happy to take your money but no support for small business! Clearly have no understanding of how businesses work and its always the computer says no! Needed them to approve a 2nd charge and although reducing the overall debt of the company they still said no!

Customer service is dreadful

I've had to contact Royal Bank of Scotland on about 4 or 5 occasions over the last 2 months for various reasons and their customer service is appalling, you cant't speak to anyone, the crappy digital assistant (Cora) is useless, just tells you what you already know or can check yourself on the website. You have to use the crappy chat on the app to contact them as there are no phone numbers anywhere to be found, then wait up to 6 hours for a reply... which you then don't get. If you need to do something in branch you need to plan a half day road trip to visit the nearest one, then as soon as you walk in the door you are directed to self service machines that are also of no use unless you want something really simple and basic. The app gets updated every 5 minutes and just as you get used to the new layout they roll out another forced update and its all changed again. Asked for a cheque book to be posted out, had to chase them 3 times for it over the course of 3 weeks after being told it'd take 7 working days. Currently can't transfer money from one of my accounts to another on the app, all I get is an error and an apology message and please try again later. Again attempted to contact customer service, Cora the heap of crap sends you in circles over and over again telling you "you can easily transfer money in the app.... just do blah blah" When you finally get past the stupid digital assistant you get put in a queue on a chat screen, says someone will contact me with a reply within 6 hours, its been 9 hours and I'm still waiting..... time to change banks I think.

Is shocking shocking shocking the customer service we get from the staff.
Nobody is helping, nobody can do anything and nothing it looks like I am dodgy. I am asking just for my statement to show it to my mortgage under writer but they came back saying my address is wrong which it has been changed in 2017.. Is it my fault not to update it ??? No the manager that left the RBS never did for some reason I ignore.
Now the guy is not showing any interest to send me my paper work a copy or my business mortgage loan ..
The only thing is holidng me back for my new mortgage approval is RBS ... I can't believe it.

Been a customer for over 10years even opened my daughters for first savings with them and the level of customers I have received through online has been beyond me terrible that it’s pushed me to now leave rbs and switch to another bank, the people with the rbs branch are fantastic however online beyond a joke they don’t care about their customer especially long standing customers

I had a virgin one account which worked…

I had a virgin one account which worked very well for us as we are self employed.
Problem is Rbs changed the mortgage terms and conditions half way through the term from interest only to capital and interest, they then demanded 30K arrears caused by this change to our mortgage terms.
Do not trust Rbs they are crooked.
I paid the mortgage off no thanks to them.
Then the sucker punch they did not release our property and sign our house over to us with the Land registry upon final payment of our mortgage.
I didn't realise for until months after our final payment, and I asked the Land registry if our house had been released to us.
When I contacted Rbs they at first denied that they did not transfer ownership after final payment. They then apologised for saying they had when they hadn't and did the transfer as they should have.
They promised a small compensatory payment, which we never received.
They also sent all correspondence regarding the deeds to our old address, the owner who we know kindly brought the letters to our house and of course it was too late to accept their compensation offer because they had sent correspondence to our old address.
We still have no correspondence regarding this gigantic fraudulent act.
SO MY WARNING IS IF YOU HAVE PAID YOUR MORTGAGE OFF, MAKE SURE YOUR DEEDS ARE TRANSFERRED TO YOU, AS THE BANK STILL TECHNICALLY OWN IT, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE PAID YOUR MORTGAGE IN FULL!
CHECK NOW THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AT BEST, BUT ACTUALLY ARE FRAUDULENTLY DEALING WITH HONEST CUSTOMERS.
DO NOT TRUST RBS THEY LIE AND DEFRAUD YOU.
I HAVE PROOF FOR ALL THE ABOVE.

Peterhead Awful Customer Service.

I've been with this bank for many years in Peterhead.
Up until recently, I've never had to go into the bank.
I had an important matter to deal with and the only way to get it arranged was to visit the branch. Per instructions from their call centre.
The woman at the counter didn't know how to deal with my request. Asking her colleague if she knew what I wanted them to do and how to go about it.
The woman I was with was curt, impatient, condescending and flustered.
She didn't smile at all. When I asked questions she cut me short telling me to wait. In a very impolite manner.
I ended up feeling I was inconveniencing them. Yet my request was something banks deal with many times a day.
I left hoping I'd never have to go in again. But unfortunately I did. A few weeks later receiving the exact same experience.
In contrast a few weeks later, I had to use the RBS branch at Queens Cross in Aberdeen. I wasn't looking forward to it.
There was no need to be concerned. They were extremely helpful. The man who was dealing with my request was friendly, polite and chatty. He knew exactly what he was doing and made sure I understood every aspect of the process.
That branch gets a massive thumbs up from me.
I hope I don't have to go into the RBS in Peterhead again.
I was going to open a new bank account with them as I was going to be receiving substantial payments regularly. And wanted a separate account for this.
Instead I opened an account with the Halifax in Peterhead. Who's customer service is miles better than the local RBS.

Tried to open this account to get the rewards - no point, never got the rewards despite meeting requirements . Then I tried to shut my account down several times through the app. Because it’s a rewards account, they charge me fees each month. Despite having tried to close it several times through the app and being told it was closed, it still hasn’t closed and it’s continued to charge me money. Now I’m being told I have to go into branch in person to close it down, taking time out of my day and off work because of their stupidly limited opening hours. I’m extremely cross as I’ve never had to do this to close a bank account before and i keep having to top up the bank account by a pound or so every month to keep it in credit. Stupid system, waste of time - never getting involved with this bank again.

RBS is crap

RBS is crap. I decided following a stroke maybe it was time to retire but I was unaware how long it would take to access my pension so there is a temporary cash flow problem but not to worry I have had my rbs credit card since 2002 and usually pay it off each month so no worries. You would think so at least but no RBS stopped my credit card despite me telling them I was relying on it for food. I have never spoken to so many idiots in one place! Although they are all heart and sent the NHS out to check I wasn't going to harm myself. I don't need to I can rely on them for that. I call it the RBS diet. So far I have lost 2 kgs. Not bad but now they have taken the stop off my card which will kick in on the 9th March so I guess I can lose a lot between now and the 14h February and 9th March. 3 weeks so at least another 2 or 3 kgs.Make no mistake if I die it is on RBS!

Shambles attitude from business branch. Changing account signatory left us with no access to business banking for a week now, still ongoing. Wouldn't it be smart to appoint new signatory and only then remove old one? No, they removed old one with no access to account to make payments and now setting up access for new one which takes to complete how long? they don't themselves that... Kindergarten

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would. I banked with RBS for a few years current account and rewards account. I one day made an amazon order as I regularly do this order was around £350 after making order I checked my balance and the cost had been deducted from my available balance as expected. Within a day or 2 I had received all my amazon items and so as far as I was concerned that was bought and paid for. I was waiting on backdated child maintenance being paid to me so logged in again and saw my balance was up by few hundred and thought my maintenance had obviously went in. I paid bills done an online food shop etc the following day I logged in and to my horror I was minus £350 or thereabouts. Now this was an everyday current account that had no overdraft facility they told me I couldn't have an overdraft I checked all recent transactions and to my shock amazon the day I ordered goods had requested the payment which they need to do for order to be sent out and as explained this had reflected on my available balance I received my goods between 24/48 hours but despite goods being sent/received the money that had left my available balance had somehow went from pending back into available balance and so when I spent what I thought was my backdated maintenance it was in fact the amazon payment meaning when they went back in to take it and I didn't then have it I was left £350 overdrawn which to me is a LOT of money and I had no way of paying I pt back being single mum and on benefits due to poor health I'm unable to work. My universal credit which I need to survive was completely swallowed up I had to go into the branch each time this was paid in and taken and explain my full personal financial situation in front of an extremely busy city centre branch. Bills were being missed because I had no use of my account it was a complete nightmare and I was offered zero support from bank after couple months I had to change my Universal credit payments etc to my mothers account which was a lot of hassle for both her and I. Now I'm being hounded with emails about paying this overdraft and referral to debt collectors as someone who struggles terribly with anxiety and depression I've been going out my mind with worry and stress. I was advised to log an official complaint and so I did this was around 8 weeks ago I received an initial reply to my complaint telling it would be resolved within 5 weeks. I must have chased this up via email about 50 times emailing customer relations and rbs complaints all I ever get back is same retyped response about how they have forwarded my email to relevant team. There live chat is hopeless I can't get on the app because I fell behind with phone bill so only means of contact with them is email which I've endlessly informed them off. When I'm trying to login there sending a code to my phone which I no longer have so can't retrieve code. I should add when on the phone to them and advised to log complaint I was advised I had £15 or thereabouts in my rewards account but I could not transfer to my current account as the overdraft would eat being short on cash I found this so frustrating I was then advised I could instead redeem the value of balance for a Tesco e voucher via email I thought OK I can get couple of days food shop. Well that was around 8 weeks ago and I've never ever received that email with my voucher but the money on my rewards balance has vanished so where did the voucher go????? Honestly whole thing has been unbelievable and terribly terribly frustrating

Royal Bank of Scotland is an…

Royal Bank of Scotland is an inconsiderate Bank in my opinion. They closed my account and app while I was abroad receiving cancer treatment. They have frozen my account stopping payments going in and withdrawals. I contacted them to explain my situation and didn't care. I am at present stuck in Cyprus without any money, not receiving my treatment, and unable to travel due to being too ill. I have a lot of money in my accounts and unable to access them. Every time I call I have to put my account details in and told go speak cora or my details can't be found. A very worrying time for me and fighting cancer which they don't seem to care about. I have asked them to open my app to enable me to transfer my funds to another bank and they say they can't. They closed it so surely they can open it

Flawed process on opening of a business account…

To actively open a business account have proved almost impossible. I started application November 18, 2024 and as of today (January 17, 2025) the account is still not opened.
I have been asked to submit proof of ID and address twice, all cleared both times. The accountant submitted the required proof of registered and trading address back in November, and I'm still being chased with request for further information. This time they want to know how i can run a business from home !!!! Like any sole trader / independent consultant do.
RBS is appalling in their interaction, timing and reasoning. I cannot recommend anyone to even attempt to open a business account with RBS.
